with a gunt and a thump Lily fell backward, the crowbar flew down the hall, just past the back tire of the truck, and the door slid open a couple of feet. She closed her eyes and lay back to rest for a moment, now that she had gotten it to move opening it far enough to drive through would be easy but that much had taken almost an hour.
Before noticing she found herself asleep, same dream she'd had every night that she could remember, standing in a big box, sterile white with a single bright domed light on the ceiling, curled up in the corner across from a mirrored wall. The room was cold and everything about it made her want to leave. She could feel vague pains and dried tears but it was all blurred out by a blaring noise, it didn't directly hurt her ears but she couldn't think through it, making her feel an uncomfortable numbness.
The dream always seemed to last forever, not much changed during the dream but she could tell time was passing. It always ended the same way, the noise would get louder, the mirror would shudder then pull away a few feet to reveal a door in the space , the door would begin to open, and she would wake up with a jolt.
Upon waking Lily found herself scrunched into the corner between the door and the floor, she probably rolled herself there while sleeping, for warmth. After rubbing the sleep out of her eyes she stood up and remembered what she had been up to, and with a stiff shove the door slid the rest of the way open. Tossing the crowbar in the back Lily pealed out in the little truck.
where the other sections of the hall had been wildly curved this one was a straight shoot, and had a light on at the next door. The door was also different, just a sliding glass door, but it was still to far away to make out anything behind it.

For the first time that he remembered Iroe was pushing himself. After discovering the heat signiture below he had gone to work repairing and reactivating the tether station, almost seven hours ago. Just about everything other than the hatch controls had been blown out by a power surge from the tether, probably caused by the detonations but sensors were off at the time. Seven hours work and it was almost operational but there was no telling it it would work.
He had opted to work alone, drones would just clutter the small capsule and few of them had the knowledge required. He worked at a speed no human could hope to match, but even he wasn't meant to do this much and over the hours his metal limbs had been heating up to the point that he steamed lightly in the small station. It's environmental systems were unstable, causing the humidity to rise while still keeping within the safe range it was set to. The steam was annoying him but he had finished all the delicate work hours ago.
He stepped back from the console in front of him and reached up to a covered switch on the low ceiling, with a click the room lit up, some parts flickered but according to the display said it would work, Iroe might need to override some safeties but it would work. In a reassuring way the car readjusted its locks and opened its door with a hiss.

The hall echoed with the sound of squealing tires as Lily slammed the brakes to stop only feet away from door, various things clanked about the truck bed as it fell back from the powerful stop. Something about this door put Lily on edge, she had to walk through it, something on the other side was very important; This was becoming a familiar feeling, it had lead her all the way here. Stepping out of the truck and grabbing the crowbar again, facing the door the whole time with an anxious, cautious, somewhat paranoid attitude she moved to it, to a dark blue circle at about chest height in the middle of the door. Timidly she put her hand on it, in response it flickered weakly and a set of motors in the wall groaned even more pathetically. The door jittered and slowly pulled apart; when the seal first broke a strong wind pulled Lily towards the door but it settled quickly.
She stepped through and it closed behind her in much the same way, another one in front of her opening more powerfully when it finished. Presenting her with the freshest air she had breathed in days, though the light was florescent. The room was big, about the size of the missile silos she camped in most nights but it felt bigger. The floor and walls were coated with pure white tiles patterned with black in a spoked wheel around the floor. The walls were mostly bare, a large console on one side and an array of black circles about ten feet up, the middle seemed to be a set of steel doors, right above each a black dome, probably a camera. Literally the centerpiece of the room was a large cable coming down from outside the silo, must have been at least four feet wide running straight into a steel plate taking up the inner half of the room, fenced off too.
