Still nothing happened. Elruda muttered something incoherent about the Jutsu under her breath. But, she still returned to attempting the Jutsu again. If one thing the Hyuuga wasn't planning to do it was giving up. Wrath will not have the satisfication of watching her fail.

It was either that this Jutsu was incredibly difficult for Academy Students or should Elruda just leave it as that ninjutsu isn't her strong point. But Elruda still continued with her attempts. "Kawarimi no Jutsu!"

This time, however, she successfully managed to replace herself with a rock. A bit off, she walked back to her previous position, and attempted the Jutsu again.

She was close, she felt it but the Jutsu did not entirely work. Closing her eyes, Elruda simply tried again. "Kawarimi no Jutsu!" She shouted, hoping the Jutsu would work.

But nothing rewarded her effort. Curse the Hyuuga clan for ninjutsu incompetence! She savagely thought to herself. But she did not say anything aloud and simply closed her eyes again before crying out, "Kawarimi no Jutsu!"

Elruda sighed. This wasn't good. She never even dreamt that she would be so bad at the Replacement technique. But, however low her spirits may be, Elruda still tried again. "Kawarimi no Jutsu!"

"I'm not giving up yet!" Elruda yelled. She was annoyed but she wasn't giving Wrath the satisfication of seeing her fail at something so basic. If the book says Academy Students could learn Kawarimi, so be it. "Kawarimi no Jutsu!"

This was starting to really get on her nerves. Elruda thought as she yelled "Kawarimi no Jutsu!" once more. Please work. She silently thought to herself. Why does fate despise her so much?

Elruda wondered how much longer could she endure before her patience run thin from the failures. Forget the patient, wise Hyuuga icon. "Kawarimi no Jutsu!" She murmured, it was best if she save some energy for kunai practice later.

*poof* This time Elruda managed to successfully trade places with a rock. She ran back to her previous position, spirits a bit higher, and shouted. "Alright! One more time! Kawarimi no Jutsu!"

"Done." She muttered to her mentor. Boy, that Jutsu was hard. But she wasn't going to admit it to her teacher, well maybe someday in the future. At least with Kawarimi, she had finished her third Jutsu tonight.
((I gotta go to bed for tonight too. Until tomorrow, Brom-san. Tootles~! <3))

"Very good. Now we'll let you rest your chakra fr a little while. But in the meantime you will work on your target practice. The targets are over there and here is a kunai for you to keep." Wrath informed Elruda as he tossed a kunai at her and then pointed at the targets.

((Ehrm...I don't quite get the last part about the check. Um...I guess for now I'll just concentrate on rolling. sweatdrop ))
"Hai." Elruda murmured as she took the kunai knife from her teacher. For the break, she twirled the small weapon around her finger, trying to get used to the weight and the feeling of cold metal pressed against her palm. "Thank you." She said, after a moment, almost as a afterthought. It was still hard for the female Hyuuga to say those two simple words. But she is gradually getting used to showing thanks; she does have a lot to be thankful for. Instead of being treated as a spy or intruder, Wrath had shown her unbelievable hospitality. She had gotten careless and got caught in a trap and he offered to help her. She had no place to stay but now she does with the other refugees. Also, where she lacked training, the Ame shinobi was now filling it in for her, at his own time.
With all the hours that had gone and passed from the training, it was now dark. However, Elruda did not feel tired. She knew she should be from her long journey and her injury was still fresh but she felt exhilarated. For the first time in a long while, she was being treated as a shinobi, with standards to fulfill. Being in Hyuuga did have many strict codes but since her parents and family abandoned her, she had not experienced this feeling of acceptance for quite a while.
She walked a bit towards the targets and stopped twirling the kunai around her finger. She grasped the cold object tightly in her right hand and hurled it with all her strength towards the first target she saw.
