Yumea-chan Noticing the new girl sitting over at a table, Yumea wondered if she should serve her or if someone else would. She decided to go over since the other serevers weren't in the room. She bowed and welcomed the young girl. "Welcome to our Okiya! May I get you anything? She was kind of aware that it was not the place for her, but she dismissed all the odd looks, meant or not. "Yes. I would like to know if I can have a room, a bath, a meal and some entertainment. I am not here to cause any trouble, be assured." Etiquette was vital to her, and seemed even more important in these kinds of place. She gave the woman the purse and gave her a brief but polite smile. "I hope this would cover some expense." Inside was a hundred golds.

Kyoku smirked a bit as she watched Yumea take care of the odd quest. Although it was highly unusual, she had on occasion seen a wife or two come to a company zashiki. The woman spoke like the teahouse was an inn, perhaps she was from out of town, more so the Kyoku had first thought. She certainly didnt look familar, and Kyoku knew everyone in the city. The young geisha let her curiousity get the better of her and she went to help Yumea, she was just a maiko after all.
"Hello miss!" She piped girlishly as she gave a slight bow "Im assuming that you come from another town? We have plenty of sake available if you would like some, any food may take awhile seeing as everyone is working!" she giggled and smile.

She looked at the other girl, trying not to be annoyed by the pitch of her voice.
"Oh? uh... thanks.... sake would do..."
She looked around the teahouse.
"Yeah I'm sort of a gaijin around here. Fairly new, and sorts."
She was almost lying. She's been around for a while now..... Only, nobody cared to notice her. Hiding in plain sight. But she had a smile, yet again.
"And you...." She said, looking at Kyoku, "you look like there's something really important you have to tell me. I can read a bit of it in the way you're looking at me, but I can't quite figure it out. You'll have to tell me what's wrong."
She wasent really looking for an argument, she was just direct by nature. If she was doing something wrong, she wanted to know about it now.

"What? Oh." Her voice lowered but still remained gentle. Years of living with women who's job it was to care for customers was throughly ingrained.
"Its very unusual to see a woman in a teahouse that doesnt work here." Kyoku continued talking as a maid appeared with sake and Kyoku began to pour for the woman out of habit.
"I cant say many women prefer out company! We have a very...close knit community, as im sure youve seen. If you are planning on staying in the area, i would suggest you be very polite and try to make friends, there are alot of...social rules here." She smiled warmly "So, may i ask your name?"

"Yes, I will check for a room. And you'd like some sake then? 'K, I'll be back ma'am" Yumea said going to the back from a bottle. She walked slightly slower than usual, listening to Kyoku talk with the stranger. Dismissing it, she went back to Nitta-san and questioned about a room and everything else the girl asked for.

*Pixie stepped in quietly, her cropped hair barely hiding the pointed tips of her ears.* Hello all. I'm sorry I wasn't able to make it sooner. *she adjusts her kimono which is multicoloured, and embroidered with rainbow birds of paridise.* How are you, freinds?

She took the sake, and drank it. Ahhh.... it felt pretty good. she took the time to appreciate every drop of it, her paranoid feelings slowly sinking.
"I think my name is Jade..... because of the color of my eyes.... well, everyone that's not one of my bosses call me that."
She putted the empty cup down.
"I'm just looking for calm company. I've had enough chaos for this lifetime, even though I'm sure I could be called again anytime. Whatever those rules are I will abide. It's in my own Code. If I didn't wanted to, I wouldnt have come here."
She looked at the girl, who went her way to practically serve her. She felt some irony in the fact that in different ways, they were alike. They had to serve.
"Well, I come from the Man's world, and I'm just looking for a break. I do apologize for any sign of rudeness. I'm willing to hear these rules out."

Sayuri rose and made her way towards the strange woman, careful to avoid too much eye-contact.
"I may only be a maiko, but if I may interject..." Sayuri began. "These rules that Kyoku speaks of are more like our way of life. I am training to become one of these woman that are specialized in several varieties of art. As for the social rules, I am sure that they cannot be very different from the society in which we are all enclosed. Geisha are masters of art, in both entertainment and speech. Our only goal is to please the patrons that we entertain. At almost any cost. We survive by these patron and they survive this droll world by the life we bring into it..."
Sayuri waited for a response from anyone to correct or add onto her statement.

As the girl Sayuri talked, Jade's mind raced.
Masters of art, in both entertainment and speech. The only goal is to entertain. And please.
Was she a Geisha herself? She wouldn't bow down to anyone that didn't deserved it, wether they paid her or not, but she did a lot of things in her life. Being herself was an art in itself.
What she did, she did to be happy. She just never really was after all. But despite everything, she always strived and worked to keep her actions pure. And make sure that when she was doing what she did, she was not being assailed by doubts or remorse. If she wasent clean, she would fall and no one would pick her up.
It takes a lot out of her day after day just doing what she does and living with it, or rather not letting excitement, arrogance or aggravation get the best of her.
She looked at the girl Sayuki again. She didnt really liked to see a woman keeping her eyes low and her voice down. ....But she did supposed it was the way of things.
"Do what you do. We're both artists then, and I understand your point of view."
She cranked her head slightly back, squinting pensively. Damn! is it ever hard to measure your every words. How do these girl achieve to do that all day long??
"I just want to know one thing..... have you ever said 'no' before?"
She was staring at Sayuri; it was not a mean glare, nor was it destined to intimidate despite all appearance, but a scanning one.
She just needed to know if anyone else had some backbone......

ChibiBakaYumea "Yes, I will check for a room. "Hm...an unusual request from an unusual guest. But, yes Yumea-chan, there is an unused but small room upstairs the young lady can use. And of course the house bath. I'm afraid the cook left for the evening, but we can send one of the maiko out for some noodles or something. Hm...." She thought a moment about the strange girl and studied Yumea. "See what you can find out about this girl. She has caught my interest."

Kyoku watched the conversation between sayuri and Jade for awhile before interupting to answer Jade's question. This was not a question for such a young girl. ((im assuming that this is set before the ban of prostitution when maiko had mizu-age))
"Well, we ourselve cant really say no. Its our job as Sayuri said. The mothers though, the older women, they take care of us. If they think a request is unsuitable, it will not happen. However, if they decide it is, well, most of us are bound by some kind of debt to our mothers..." her eyes flicked to the ground as she smoothed her kimono.
At 18 she had only been a geisha for a year, turning her collar when she was 17. The passage into adulthood had been rather pleasant the mothers assured her. Many girls had it far worse, which is why she was interested in Sayuri. With the right help, her life could be quite pleasant.

"Yes Nitta-san, thank you very much" Yumea said bowing then running off to take the young woman to a room.
"Miss, we have a room avalible and a bath house. You are welcomed to stay here, although the cooks have already left. Our mistress says she will send someone to buy something for your meal though. If you please follow me." she turned and headed down a hallway.

Sayuri glanced up towards Kyoku and smiled at her kind words. She hadn't meant to be so humble, but she wanted to be respectful towards Jade.
Sayuri nodded towards Jade as Yumea came to her aid. "Yumea-san is very capable," she assured Jade.
Sayuri turned towards Kyoku and grinned, whispering in her ear, "She's quite a curious one, I would say. Are we to go to your party or follow Yumea for a while? Yumea, after all, is still only an apprentice..."

Jade looked around, unable to retain a smile at all these people buzzing about her. It felt good for once that no one was in danger and there was no emergency.
"Yes. I understand honor and traditions, believe me. In dreams I have myself seen the old woman holding me up on her shoulders..... when I told her I should be holding her up she dismissed me with the brightest smile I ever saw.... I know perfectly what you mean."
She enjoyed the conversation for a moment, and at the announce that the chef had went home, she dismissed the idea of girls going out of their way just for a bowl of soba.
"Oh, lunch can wait, I am sorely in need of a hot bath and a bed for now..... and to remove these heavy boots is all I could truly wish for."
She peeked around, and leaned onto the matron, keeping her voice down.
"hmmm...... would it be uncalled for if I asked one of the ladies in your employ to give me a back rub tomorrow? Don't worry, your girls are safe with me. I could just use one... I've been some acrobat lately indeed," she said with an unsuspectingly pleasant smile.
Yumea had come back around, inviting Jade to join her in direction of the baths and room.
"Oohh thank you, are you ever so nice. Sorry ladies, I hear a bed calling me.... I can barely keep my eyes open any longer tonight. I wish you a pleasant night, and dreams full of good omens."
having a fine ear, she heard whispers about legwork to know where she came from..... She just looked at Nitta-san from the corner of her eyes.... and had a wink before following Yumea down the hall.
