Lex looked sickened. "Eat that?! It's rotting!" She shifted into a horse and started eating the soft grass beneath her feet. She calmly listened to Siglos and Ankaara talking, but her raised her head when she, too, heard another noise.

Ankaara stared at Lex with one eye. "huh, should've told me that when you came an' snatched me out of the air and tried to eat me!" She sighed.

From his lofty position atop the tree branch, Sigilos kept an eye on all the newcomers, but his attention was really on the barn. He called down to Ankaara.
*Milady, me thinks if you wish to rescue yonder child in the barn, you might not wish to tarry. That creaking monstrosity will fall any moment.*

((Sorry! Haven't been able to go on for a LONG time... my dad blocked the site...))
Shaydra stared up at the roof of the creaking barn. She was in human form, a mere 11-year old child. The chains on her legs rattled as she pulled toward the door. The chain, unfortunately, was fused to the barn wall, and Shaydra merely tripped and fell face-flat into a pile of horse dung.
She got up, wiping the waste off her face, and sat down. Skelegar's slave master had sent her here to die because Shaydra had refused to work, even under the cruel slap of the thick whip.
The wyvern in disguise tugged at the tight band around her neck that prevented her from turning into her true form. The meal was infused with magic, and it shocked her hand; the bolt coursed through her whole body and knocked her senseless, tightening the chain again.
Unfortunately, the tug of the chain proved to be too much for the rickety barn. A few timbers snapped, and the building roared like a thing possessed. It was going to fall.
Shaydra looked up at the roof. She was not one to cry, but a few tears dropped onto her weak human hands. She was not going to be able to save her clan.

((You are right, Sir Sigilos, I must help.)) Ankaara ran to the barn, and kicked in the door. She saw a girl there, and without hesitation, sliced the chain in two with her claws. "Don't move." Ankaara blew a thin stream of flame on to the collar, which broke.

The collar didn't break, it merely burned white-hot against Shaydra's skin. She yelped and lunged out the doorway. And not a moment too soon; the barn groaned, crackled, and toppled to the floor in a cloud of dust.
A large portion of the wall lay on Shaydra, but she shrugged it off with inhuman strength. The girl clambered out of the dust and looked up to find a black dragon looking back down at her.
"Why did you save me?" she said nonchalantly, as if talking about the weather. "For all you know, I could be working for Skelegar, baiting you by being inside the barn."

Ankaara looked at the girl, and said: "Hey, that collar looked mighty not comfy. I just wanted to help ya..." She paused. "I saved you, because it is unkind to leave someone, evil or not, to die, especially in a rickety old barn. And if you really did work for him, I would know. That's a little talent my clan has."

Sigilos watched the barn with a cool look on his face, then glanced at the new dragon. He returned his gaze to the barn, but called down the forest floor below him.

Shaydra accepted the dragon's answer and looked around. There were quite a few other dragons nearby. She looked at her own skin, marvelling at how weak she was in the present state. "I wish I knew how to take this band off, but it's cursed," the girl muttered.
She looked up at the black dragon, who was looking at her expectantly. "And who have I the pleasure to meet?" Shaydra said. "I'm Shaydra Silversky... Say, do you have a spare pencil?"

*I am? Whoops.*
"A pleasure to meet you, Shaydra. My name is Ankaara. Wait a sec..." She ran into the ruined castle. "Ah, here it is!" She ran out with a glimmering pencil in her hand. "This pencil never needs sharpening or something of the sort. I found it in a safe it's very odd, really, how only this wasn't destroyed..." She handed it to Shaydra. "I've got no use for it now, all my stories and drawings were destroyed along with my castle. You can have it. I am happy to help, really." She smiled.
