As he stopped abruptly Bella did her best not to run in to him. She jerked her head up at his sharp reply, ears twitching back against her head. He really was annoyed by her presence, wasn't he?
So much for wishing the best. . . so much for hope, reassurance and optimism. Bella really didn't understand how to deal with his denial and his defensive walls and barriers. Best to think about it later and come up with another course of action.
Of course she could do as he suggested and let him be, leave him alone, and never return. . . . but was the gentle spirited mare strong enough to do that? Could she just abandon one so broken to his standoffish ways and negativity?
. . . . not forever, no.
She'd allow Azumoth his time and, perhaps if she were lucky, she might once again meet the every shy shadow of the woods. Of course, Bella decided it wouldn't be easy, and she wouldn't blatantly go out of her way to hunt him down or interrupt his territory. . . .but she didn't forget about his title. If these woods were his and if he really knew everything, then he'd know if she returned.
She had every right to revisit the woods so long as she stayed close to the recognized trails. Maybe she would. . . . Bella had made her promise not to stray, not to disappear completely from his life. If he chose to remain unseen and never once appear, than fine, that choice rested on him and her oath would not be broken.
. . . . but, in case she was killed. . . the girl made a vow to choose the most beautiful day to relinquish her fate to the woods. The sun would shine and the light would clear the way. Yes. . . .
At least she could thank him after his irritation had faded. But it would be her little secret, Azumoth needn't know her plans. He wouldn't believe it to be so to begin with, or would push his threat of death back on her. Well, it wasn't fair that everything was 'what Azumoth' wants. . . .
For once in her life Bella would be forced to have to break a rule. . . But breaking made it sound so harsh! Bending it sounded better and was much more agreeable. She'd leave him alone, but that wouldn't mean she'd never return to the edges of the woods.
Slowing her pace as she walked beside the stallion, Bella glanced up at the stars, then at the hills and finally returned her amber gaze back up at Azumoth. If this was indeed the last she saw of the shadowed beast, she wanted a good mental picture of her friend that was never meant to be. Pawing at the ground, she ducked her head and offered him a small smile.
She wasn't happy to be going but. . . what choice did she have? It wasn't as if she could stay. . . He deserved a break from her company and hollow arguments.
"Well, sir," she began softly, glancing over her shoulder back at the woods from which she'd came. She'd think twice about wandering so far from the familiar next time and to take his advice and look for landmarks, not just pretty plants and foliage. "I appreciate your help and patience. . . Take care in all you do. Perhaps. . . . well. . . . until we meet again!"
She trotted forward, allowing her hip and tail to brush up lightly against him as she passed. Her thoughts were heavy, permeated by the shadows of Azumoth's land. It had been a most interesting evening. . . .
But the night was still far from over, at least for Bella and her thoughts.

The stallion suppressed a shiver in response to the brief touch. Unaccustomed to contact with another, it took every ounce of discipline to resist the urge to react. It was so foreign against his thick pelt, and yet so tender. Had it lasted any longer he would have made an accusation of teasing but instead...He did what his mother told him; he kept his mouth firmly shut.
Continuing to watch the mare as she proceeded towards the edge of the forest and towards a more desirable location he was met with a sense of relief and a little guilt. She had been nothing but nice to him - yes, she was an idealist and yet he had chosen to ignore her words. She made her promises and as usual he had claimed them to be lies. His mother was right, the reason he never got hurt was also the reason he did miss out on so many opportunities.
"You know," The quiet voice from a nearby tree caused his eyes to shift from the young mare. He was met by the amber eyes of his companion. The bear, now resting one paw against the tree in a rather unlikely fashion, had a rather peculiar expression on his face. His overly fluffy ears twitching at the slightest sound.
"Spit it out," The stallion ordered in an equally low tone as he turned his back to the edge of his land and began to move towards the overly fluffy (yet deadly) creature.
"You may need to work on your social skills," The bear informed him, offering a toothy grin as he dropped his paw away from the tree and padded towards the mutant. The bear in comparison to Azumoth was rather tiny but what was most unusual was the manner in which they matched - even the little feathers that adorned the bear matched the teal sphere.
"Visitors are rare -"
"Because you make sure they are," The bear interjected, glancing over his shoulder briefly at the disappearing cream tail of the mare. His heart went out to her, she had tried so hard to make him see and as usual Azumoth had been blind. Really, one of these days the bear was going to knock him off a cliff and hoped he banged his head on the way down - might knock some sense into him!
"Giruvegan, you know as well as I do that it is for the best."
"Is it?" Apparently the bear could be equally as stubborn and with a small, growling chuckle he quickened his pace to match the stallions lengthening stride. With the patrols done it was evident that it was time to go home.
With the mutant's shoulders slumped heavily as though crushed beneath an unseen weight and the sphere in his chest only a dull glow it was perfectly clear that he needed his rest. His mother would automatically launch upon him and tend to his hair but he needed his quiet time.
Nevertheless, while Azumoth had absolutely no intention of ever leaving his forests again - Giruvegan had a cunning plan...

((I'd call this one a wrap! But I would be more than happy to start another one whenever you're up for it. x] You wouldn't think Bella would actually listen to his orders, would you? She won't go hunt him down, but she has every right to come back to the woods! Just let me know when you'd like to RP again! ^_^ ))

((I think that would be great! I do have to run out and visit my ex's mother (ironically she and I still are close/keep in contact) but I'll be back in a little bit. :3 I'll keep my eyes out for it, for sure! *glomps and runs*))
