"Let's find out, shall w-" He broke off as he saw two more targets out of the corner of his eye. He swung around, shooting sparks and telekinetic force at one target, which was-a boy standing silently behind them. At the last second, he put up a barrier, bouncing the force to the other target, which was curling up into a ball as it shot over her head. {Great. I almost kill some of the new people.} He turned his attention back to the shadow hounds: three were laying, twitching, on the floor, one was about to leap, and the others were ramming into his barrier. "But if you try, you won't be protected by my barrier, because the only way to attack one like that would be to either let it in or let you out." He turned back to the other four. "Hey! Now would be a good time to use your powers!" He looked at Mara. "Telekinesis, right? Could you, after testing to see if a shadow hound will be penetrated, hold up the sheild? Just weave your psi around and through mine and it should sustain itself...and make sure your psi regenerates quickly." As he said it, he worked with a small ball of psi in his hands; a miniature sheild. He tweaked a small part here, moved a current there, and as he did so the big sheild quivered with anticipation. Finally, when he felt the minisheild was ready, he crushed it, and the large sheild mirrored what the minisheild had looked like. If he had done it right it would be sustained by any psi that touches the outside, while psi on the inside would pass through a hole that would automatically form. He tested it out by connecting his mind with one of the hounds', then causing it so much mental anguish that he hoped none of the people behind him had Empathy, or they would be screaming in pain right then. "Make it fast, my sheild won't last long!"

"Unlike me, unlike me... Do you think I'm strange?" +++
Although her face was still buried in her lap, Alyssa felt a rush of air as the force slammed into the books inches behind her head. She whimpered and pulled her head in tighter but froze as she heard a boy's voice echo in her mind.
{Great, I almost kill some of the new people.}
I know that wasn't me, she thought. Is this some kind of telepathy? And what did it mean, 'new people'? She raised her head slightly, just enough to see the boy who appeared to be the source of some kind of sparking barrier that was keeping the shadowy dogs from attacking him and four others. Wow. This is so far beyond anything I can understand. As she watched he turned to the confident-looking girl beside him and said something. He was toying with something in his hands, a ball of energy? She shifted, rising onto her knees to try and get a better look, the danger of the dogs all but forgotten, relegated to insignificance by the sheer strangeness of the scene before her.
She craned her neck, trying to see what he was doing, and noticed his spark-shield seem to twitch out of the corner of her eye. Suddenly, his hands stopped moving and she thought she caught a hint of satisfaction, and maybe a little worry in his expression. Then he brought his hands together.
There was only pain, enough that she could see it, her vision turning white, blinding her. The inside of her skull was closing in, or maybe her brain was slowly tearing itself apart? It was like nothing she'd ever experienced because this pain wasn't physical, it didn't affect her body. It went straight to her mind, and that was worse, far worse. She heard a girl scream, long and drawn out, and dimly she realised that it was probably her. She couldn't stop, though, not even when her throat began to hurt, another kind of pain layering over the white-hot agony stabbing somewhere behind her eyes. She could hardly even think.
Her muscles twitched involuntarily, spasming in some automatic reflex. She felt herself begin to fall but she didn't care, not even when she felt her head hit the ground, hard. Blackness began to encroach on her perception and she felt as though she was falling away from her body and away from the pain. Thank God, was the last thing she thought before she blacked out.

Eli noticed the new girl who seemd scared. She was scared and confused. He though about this for a moment. *You shoudn't be afraid. There's nothing to worry about. Everyone here is nice. I can tell* Without even thinking about he projected his message towards the girl, this new ability facinated Eli. He couldn't do this before at home, or could he? He didn't remember, he didn't rember much actually. Not even the name of the book he had been reading minutes ago. Or was that yesterday? He couldn't remember that either.
He was starting to get scared, he wanted to go home. But he didn't remember where home was. He couldn't remember his parents, he HAD to have parents. Didn't he?
Everything was whirling around in his head, nothing was making sense, and he didn't like this place so much anymore. His head swam, when suddenly a sering pain engulfed him. It hurt so badly, he couldn't think straight. Everything blurred as pain shot throughout his body. His muscles tightened and he fell to the floor in a ball. He didn't think he'd ever felt anything this horrible, because if he had he would have remembered it.
Eli lay on the floor in agonising pain. His head hurt so badly he couldn't stand it anymore, his head was screaming out loud without control. He was beggining to feel angry and hatred towards the group of people. He hated them, he wanted to rip their throats out. Wait, was this even his own feelings? He couldn't think, it hurt too much.
With whatever he had left of his strength, Eli sent a negative energy after out into the room to try and stop whatever it was that was causing him so much pain. He just wanted it to stop, it hurt so badly. He wanted everything to stop. Then the pain began to lessen and what was left of his strength vanished as he collapsed.

Mara looked back at the new arrivals, and then back to the trenchcoat-clad boy. She really hoped this barrier transfer-deal worked. She continued to draw back, lining up for the strike, and trying to focus her energy into the barrier. As soon as she felt completely in tune with what was going on, she told them what she was about to do.
"I'm about to test something here. If you can fight, I suggest you get ready to do such. Defend who you can, and kill what you can." Her voice sounding more authorative than she would have liked.
Taking one last look at the confusion behind her, she brought her full force forward and drove her silver-sharded fist towards the target before her.
{{Sorry, but I don't know how much control I'm allowed over these situations. Would you decide if it works, or am I able to do such?}}

{{You can choose, although think about your options: Sometimes the semingly right choice can have horrible effects. In this case, the Shadow Hound Mara's about to stab has a Mindfang (see the beastiary) inside it.}}
Mathias swore, mentally using a few of his choiciest words and then some he didn't know he knew. {Great. First an attempted murder, now agonizing pain. Looks like I'm a lot of fun to be around.} He stopped torturing the Hound, and thought for a second. {Alright...Maybe if I did this...} Hesitantly, Mathias created a pocket of psi in each hand. He waited a second, then slammed his hands together. The sparks covering the hands shot out like a rocket, engulfing three of the hounds in one shot. One of the few remaining ones shot out a matching beam of shadows from its gaping jaw. The two beams collided, then a small black ball of shadow started streaking towards Mathias, who countered with a ball of sparks, whick hit the other, exploding it and revealing...another shadow orb travelling down the line of dark sparks, which was quickly countered with another pure orb, revealing two...three...five...eight...{I'm seeing a pattern.} Mathias thought. Did the Hound seriously think it could win that way? When the Hound sent out thirteen, Mathias sent out fourteen. Most connected, but the last one shot down the line like a rocket, colliding with the hound, which exploded. Not surprisingly, there was another right behind it, which lunged. Mathias, unconcerned, looked at Mara, to see if she had stabbed it, and at that crucial moment, the sheild broke near the top, with a Hound about to land on one of the other people behind them.
{NO!} Mathias thought, repairing the sheild. There was no way to stop it, and in ten seconds the fight would be over. If only they had more...time...With a yell, Mathias thrust out with his psi, crossing his arms in a defensive position as all around him, time stopped. He lowered his arms, then gently tapped each of the people behind him, speeding them up to his speed. "I can't hold this up for long! Quickly! Get rid of this pest!"

Mara swore loudly as she stopped her blow at the edge of the shield. She had started to lose control over the barrier, allowing the shadow beast to slip through. Instinctively, she threw her unfocused arm back, sending a harsh whip of blue flame across the shelves of books. And then...
She just blinked out.
It was only for a moment, but it was long enough for the situation to turn drastically. Her pot-shot telekinesis would have fallen on the others, and probably wouldn't have taken the beast with it. Then she realized she had little time to waste. Making a dash for the nearest shadow, a diamond like mist had formed about her energy. With a single motion, she froze the beast through. And with one more, had landed a shattering blow.
Breathing heavily, she called out to the others, "Well this certainly isn't the 'walk-in-the-park' I expected it to be." With a slight chuckle she began to survey the room, not knowing how much time they had left in this sort of stasis-field.

"Get...back...to the...sheild." Mathias grunted, the strain of stopping time beginning to affect him. {I've been using my energy poorly...Now...One of the books in this room said something about...Oh yeah! Using your energy to make more energy!}"I'm going to lower the time stop in ten seconds. There are only a couple of Hounds left...but still be careful."

Turning her attention back to the shield, she once more intertwined her energy with the boy's own. She couldn't help but wonder just what they were to do. The barrier wouldn't hold forever, and she was already starting to feel drained.
Calling over her shoulder, she posed a question, "So what do we do from here?"
She really hadn't meant to come off as condesending as she had.
{{Thanks for the heads-up, HEARTS. I, for one, appreciate it.}}

Mathias dropped the time stop, feeling its energy fade away. As he did so, he saw the hounds shimmer, then their shadows rose up and solidified. "They're multiplying!" Looking for a means of escape, he glanced at the dials where the Seven Portal was held, and the black door at the far end that connected to the room with the Six Portal, a magical conduit that sends people to other Six Portal loctions all over the world. Then he had an idea. Telepathically, he told the rest of the group where the hidden door was, then changed their sheild to one that sent anything that touches it back at double speed. Slowly he started moving back, then stopped concentrating on the sheild and started going toward the door. {guys! We can't get rid of them right now. Let's escape through the Six Portal until we can fight again.} He opened the door and walked it, waiting for the others.

[[Small note, me and beyonds characters are unconcious if ou guys don't pull us then...*sigh* nvm I'll get up]]
Eli awoke to the sounds of gears and a door opening, he looked to where those wolves were and he felt even more anger and hatred. As if there were more sources.
He saw the group of people heading towards another door and it looked like they had forgotten about him. He saw the girl he was 'talking' to before was still unconcious.
Eli slowly got up and staggered over to the girl, lifting her with his hand underneath her shoulders and began to drag her slowly towards the door that everyone was going in, hoping that they wouldn't close it on them before he got there.

"Unlike me, unlike me... Do you think I'm strange?" +++
((Thanks, Lumi, that's much appreciated~ ^u^ And Aduial, glad it was of some help.))
Alyssa's brown eyes fluttered open, immediately squinting shut again, a reaction to the flare of pain in her head caused by a deep, resonating rumbling sound emanating from somewhere behind her.
The next thing she noticed was that she was moving - being dragged, more specifically, by strong hands underneath her shoulders. Her ankles were dragging along the floor, though, feet catching on even the smallest bumps in the surface. She had no idea who could be dragging her, or even really why, but she had no wish to make it more difficult for them.
She opened her eyes again, more cautiously, and this time the pain was much less. Testing her strength, she momentarily dug in her heels to gain purchase on the ground and pulled away from the grip on her shoulders. She bent her knees quickly and was able to get to her feet, although she was pretty unsteady. Attempting to turn round, she wobbled and was left to grab the shoulders of the boy who had just been carrying her.
Looking up, she noticed that he was short, maybe only the same size as her, and he looked rather - well, geeky, to say the least. The last type of person she'd have expected to be trying to drag her anywhere. Still, she managed a shaky smile and told him, "I think I can walk, if you'll help me. Should get us wherever we're going that much faster."

Though she knew she had to make a quick escape, Mara couldn't help but think that if the barrier fell before they all escaped, there was the chance th beasts would follow. Thinking quickly, though barely at all, she gave one last burst of energy, placing a thick wall of ice between the shadow-pups and the party's escape route. As quickly as she had thrown up the wall, she was moving. The two latest arrivals were just ahead, but seemed to be rather drained. Throwing the girl's free arm over her shoulder, Mara smiled to them both.
"Looks like we should be going, eh? Need a another pair of legs?"
Smiling once more, she turned her sights toward their exit.

Eli smiled as the girl got to her feet. He was glad that she was ok. The other girl came to help them to the door. He could tell the people here were nice. He just knew these sorts of things.
With a nod the group headed for the door.

"Unlike me, unlike me... Do you think I'm strange?" +++
Alyssa blinked, startled, as a girl she didn't know slung her arm across he shoulders and helped support her. But, wait... she remembered something... blue lights? She shook her head, clearing it. Maybe I'm concussed. Nevertheless, she smiled her thanks as the girl, then concentrated on walking as they'd begun to move towards the door.
Although at first her movement were sluggish and shaky, she couldn't feel any pain coming from her limbs and she quickly began to gather her strength, moving forward with more confidence thanks to the arms supporting her. There was now only a dull ache at the back of her head - where she'd hit it on the floor, she assumed, considering where she'd woken up.
Now that she was thinking with more clarity, it was hard to ignore the flashes of memory, things she must have seen just before she'd passed out. The girl - yes, it was definitely the girl beside her - wreathed in what were almost curling flames of blue energy, in a ready stance behind a shield of sparks maintained by a different boy to the one now supporting her. The shield had been all that was protecting them, protecting them from--
The dogs. She flinched at that memory. She'd never much liked dogs, but those things had been like nothing she'd ever seen. She suppressed a shudder and sped up a little, now anxious to put as much distance between them and this room as possible.
