rainyeyes29 The First Doctor lasted for three (and the beginning of a fourth) season, the Second, Fifth, and Seventh (not including the start of the movie) Doctors were there for three seasons each, the Third Doctor had five seasons, the Fourth Doctor (longest run) had seven seasons, and the Sixth Doctor had the last story of the Fifth Doctor's third season and two seasons of his own. I don't think three seasons/series isn't a bad run. Eccleston definitely went quickly with that one series. alright. my bad. maybe 3 seasons isnt so bad. but, just asking, how long were those seasons? i've never been a real tv buff, but it just seems these days, nothing lasts as long as they used to. tv included. and a "season" is relative. when i saw the series, i thought 'wow a whole 13 episodes in a season!" by me a 6 week/episode season is normal, even long, but in anime 30 episodes is ok but short, and 50-52 is considered a full "season." i know my parents say in general that a "season" has gotten ridiculously short compared to "their day." i'm really not trying to be argumentative. i honestly don't know. the show was different back then. it very well could add up to the same air time. my parents are the "classic who" buffs. they said that they used to come in short (less than 30 min) 'episodes,' several being in a story line. i've read about that too, and episode guides show 4-6 story lines in a "season" but i myself don't know how long those were. maybe it does just seem like it's just gone by really fast. i did end up seeing all of them in the span of a year or less. it's possible that my perspective is just off. and maybe i'm just mad at the eccleston era for not keeping that regeneration longer. it just feels like we're running out somehow, you know? some people have been watching this show for 20 years or more, but i started a year ago and now it could be over in less than 5. cry

HappyBanana I still think Rowan Atkinson would make an excellent Doctor. I can see him as slightly upturned and smug, but still having his goofy moments. Sort of like a mixture of Three and Six. heart Enomine4life What if his regeneration is botched, and he turns into a chick? *tsk* They did both of those already in The Curse of the Fatal Death, or whatever it was called.

They started longer and got shorter as time went on. Looking here, I made this table. The first numbers are the Doctors in question, and the seasons where First Doctor had first story in Second Doctor's first season and Sixth Doctor had last story in Fifth Doctor's last season have both numbers. The other numbers are the number of episodes in a season, which are about 25 minutes each, unless there's a note; each season is separated by a comma. 1) 42, 39, 45 1,2) 43 2) 40, 44 3) 25, 25, 26, 26, 26 4) 20, 26, 26, 26, 26, 26, 28 5) 26, 22 + 90 minute movie 5,6) 22 + 2x45 minutes 6) 13x45 minutes, 14 7) 14, 14, 14 I hope the series doesn't end to quickly, too. And I'm not happy about how quickly Eccleston left. sad

Detective Hare I could picture Simon Pegg as a new doctor. Yeah...but now that I've seen 'The Long Game' it seems impossible for me to picture him as the Doctor. *Smacks head* Dammit think of him without ice blonde hair.
Simon would be an interesting Doctor...

If there is going to be a new Doctor, it won't be during Series Four at all! This was posted on David's website about an hour and a half ago...
23/08/2007, 13:20pm BST David To Stay On As The Doctor It has been officially confirmed that David will be playing the Doctor for the entire run of Series Four of Doctor Who. When asked if the constant tabloid rumours that David would be quitting the show halfway through the next series were true, Russell T Davies told the latest issue of DWM: "No, he's doing the whole series. It was never even discussed that he might leave after six episodes. That's completely invented by the papers." So you can all breathe easily now! wink

Gigglemeister Cow Demon Gigglemeister Oh, gawsh, my mom's going to throw a hissy fit if they replace David Tennant. Um, he's leaving at the end of S4. XD I know, but she can't grasp the fact the the Doctor has to regenerate at some point in time. Ohh, Gary Oldman would make a decent Doctor. Sooner or later, all Doctors regenerate, and people are always sad to see their favorites go. You should have seen the upropar when Tom Baker left, about 25 years ago. Some people stopped watching the show completely.

Not to worry, it was all done in fun and it was a very funny story, Jonathan Pryce was the best Master ever, and almost made me like the character. I am NOT a fan of the master, and was sorry to learn he's coming back.

If it's in the sun chances are it's not true.
And....I mean, I like Nesbit (don't find him sexy though) but...I can't see him as the Doctor.
I have very little idea who I'd want. I mean - how can I pick someone to replace Ten-inch?! gonk There are only two people that come to mind - and neither are gonna play it - John Simm - yeah well, he isn't going to be the Doctor is he?! - or Johnny Depp (no I am NOT another Depp fangirl - but he is one of the greatest actors ever) - who I seriously doubt would do it.
