Thanks. I mean, a lot of punks think signing big record labels and getting big is a bad thing. And in some cases I'd agree, if the band who signed loses sight of what put them so high up on the ladder. Green Day hasn't forgotten. Matter of fact, Green Day's supposedly done the wrong thing by getting big, yet didn't they themselves say 'if you're going to do something wrong, do it the right way'.

Punk's gotten waaaay too overcomplicated. When people ask me what Green Day is as far as music and style is concerned, you know what I say? 'Green Day is Green Day'.

Some of what that guy is saying is truth. Like how it's pathetic that girls are writing fan fics of them going out with him. But most of the rest I don't agree with.
I just have to say this: Green Day isn't punk. It's part of the diluted version that has become the modern-day punk. Billie Joe himself has said that he is not punk, nor is his music. Evem though the punk of it's original day was what has inspired Billie Joe and the gang in their song writing. I'd quote his exact words, from the Guitar Legends issue about Green Day, but I'm afraid the part where he said that was behind a poster page and is now up on wall.

I would like Billie to go back to his warning days and then see the reaction on all the teenies.

I personaly like Mike and Frank a lot better than I do Billie. Its kind of hard to explain the way I feel about it. And others might get offended. So I'll keep it to myself. mrgreen
