Reading about the nerves gave Wrath a great deal of information of what he was doing to his opponents but even now he still felt no sympathy for them. As he continued on he began to get into a section about the brain that followed right after the nerves. And he found out what the part of the brain where he was gathering chakra for one of his clan's jutsu. Reading was actually helping Wrath a lot.

Wrath read on and on, flipping page by page. His eyes were fixed on the text and he was just absorbing all the information that he was reading. Perhaps if he hadn't become a ninja then he would have been a scholar of some sort but it must have not been intended since the way of the ninja was the path he followed. However as he continued to read about the brain, his started to hurt. The brain was very complex and he had to stop reading for a moment to rest his eyes. And after reading a couple more paragraphs on the brain he decided to skip that section of the book and continue else where.

Wrath started skimming the section on the respiratory system and found little interest with it. The only thing he really looked for was was how long it took for a human to lose consciousness and then die from drown or lack of oxygen. It turned out that it wasn't very long. And know this information only made him more eager to try out his own developed jutsu on a stronger opponent that whom he had already tested them on. Wrath was slowly earning a reputation of drowning his enemies. He wasn't able to do it much since there weren't any large bodies of water except for the lake but he would dare performing anything of a hostile nature remotely near the temple.

After finishing a few more pages Wrath gently closed the book and set it back on the shelf, exactly where he found it. He decided to let his brain rest and watch Elruda read for a little while longer. She was actually doing quite well for an outsider. Perhaps Wrath had found someone with talent.

After a while, Elruda had finished the book on Amegakure. She only briefly scanned the parts about the economy but read in detail the history, trading partners, and alliances of the village. Briefly, she wondered if she had a made a mistake interpreting the history somewhere. Nevertheless, she found it pretty weird that the village was founded by a salamander named Hanzou. ((Yes, she did misinterpret it. =D Accordingly to the most recent Naruto chapter.)) Pretty strong salamander, too, to defeat the three legendary Sannins of Konoha in battle... She thought. Strange...

And the salamander got killed (around 600 years ago) by the Akatsuki leader named Pain. The section following was very interesting on Amegakure under Akatsuki rule and how the sannin Jiraiya was murdered trying to stop Pain. But of couse, the Rokudaime Hokage, as a Genin, came in and stopped Pain once and for all.

The book was pretty recent and she read short excerpts about famous people of the current Amegakure. Interestingly enough, she found a page on her sensei. Ah! So he is the Taijutsu master of the village. Oh...and he has a...uncle...? Hm... Oh...so his style relies alot on brute force. She remembered how he sent the alligators flying back at the river.

When she was done, Elruda wondered what she should pick to read next. She noted her sensei had join her in reading, lost in thought over several large volumes. It won't hurt to take a peek...right? She thought to herself. Wrath was sitting a few tables away.

Feeling a bit more reassured, she held her hand up in the seal to activate her Byakugan. "Byakugan." She muttered, hoping her sensei won't hear her. Veins bulged around her eyes and she could see better. Her bloodlimit allowed her to look over Wrath's side and she saw what he was reading. A-n-a-t-o-m-y. Anatomy? She wondered why he would read volumes only most medical ninjas would bother with. Focusing her Byakugan a bit more, she saw a passage come up clearly. How to deal pain to the human body system... Elruda raised an eyebrow. She was sorry she looked. But then again, she took the Hyuuga bloodlimit for granted, and their natural ability to see chakra coils.

Before she turned her attention away, she noted that her sensei appeared to have quite an impressive chakra reserve. He was not that much older than her but a pity the same couldn't be said of her chakra. Not wanting to waste any more chakra keeping up her Byakugan, Elruda quickly began using her bloodlimit to scan the shelves around her for interesting titles.

This was proving to be a very good excercise for her Byakugan as well.

10 minutes later, Elruda found herself staring at a shelf. Huh...? I could've sworn this wasn't here... ((Yup, first time Elruda gets acquainted with the blindspot in the Byakugan. ^_^ Though she doesn't realize it's a blind spot yet.)) Shaking the nagging feeling aside, a bit more wandering took her to the shelf she was looking for.

Elruda took a black book from the shelf. A volume on kinjutsu. A small grin tugged at the corners of her mouth. This is going to be fun... Back at the Hyuuga compound, books like these were kept from younger clansmen and Konoha's library did not have these at all.

A bit later, Elruda found herself shuddering uncontrollably. Well, she eventually understood why the elders back at the Hyuuga compound forbade these books to be released to the younger clansmen. Horrible... She thought. The worst, most brutal ways to kill people...

Among the kinjutsu section she learned alot from how the sannin Orochimaru was forcibly evicted from Konoha due to his passion for human experimentation. When she saw a picture of a half human girl, half fish creature, she felt as if she wanted to puke. It was that disgusting...

For the rest of the book, Elruda only browsed through it. If there was one thing she did not want to read about, it was in-depth information on the corpses retrieved from the ex-sannin's human experiments. However, the section she found on the Shiki Fuujin especially interested her. To her, it was quite strange why the Yondaime Hokage would seal a demon in his own son and expect the villagers would take care of his legacy after his death. Hm...why didn't he just take the Kyuubi fox with him to his death?

It also greatly interested her to learn how the Rokudaime Hokage later learned to master harnessing the great demon's powers and added to his own incredible stamina, created many power Jutsus. The best was learning about how the Rokudaime Hokage completed his father's Jutsu, the Ransengan, to create the Ransen-Shuriken, an attack that wrecked great devastation.

But it also saddened her to learn that both father and son used Shiki Fuujin in the last moments of their lives, to protect their beloved village.

Afterwards Elruda read a few books reviewing basic techniques and chakra control, to reinforce what her sensei had already taught first hand. She read a section about water walk and remembered how her sensei got them across the lake. Interesting... She thought. It was supposed to be much harder than basic chakra climbing but she was sure that if anything, that just might be her next assignment. Brutal. She thought sourly. Even the elders back at the Hyuuga compound weren't this mean. In fact, she was almost certain the academy teachers back at Konoha were much nicer to their students.

A pity they went into hiding (away from the village or in their homes) after the Fire master took over.

When she was done reviewing basic techniques, Elruda felt compelled to read on about Taijutsu. If she was lucky, maybe she'll find something on the Juuken style. She doubt the book would teach her much except a basic overview but who knows, it might prove to contain invaluable information. The Kinjutsu book sure did... She thought to herself.

With that, the raven-haired girl racked herself on the head, fingers tapping impatiently on the wooden desk and she tried to remember where she saw the Taijutsu books with her Byakugan earlier. After a while, it came back to her and when she was done returning the basic techniques book to their original place, she went to find something to read in the Taijutsu section.
PostPosted: Tue Sep 11, 2007 2:51 pm

Well, as she had expected, there weren't that much information about Juuken. Apparently, the Hyuuga clan until recently, did a very good job of keeping their clan techniques within their village. She did find one book about the Juuken style by Konoha's famous Branch Hyuuga member, Hyuuga Neji. But there were much more on Konoha's legendary taijutsu masters, Maito Gai and Rock Lee, with their more brute force style. While technically not considered a taijutsu style, there were also interesting books on Konoha's Godaime Hokage and her legendary strength along with her student, Haruno Sakura, whom inherited the Godaime's power and medical ninjutsu talent.

She returned to her desk and began to read on the background stories and Jutsus surrounding these legendary figures. She was particulary interested in Hyuuga Neji's story, even though she heard the elders recounting the tales fondly many many times. What interested her the most was how he learned techniques that were only passed through the main house during his time. A true prodigy. She thought to herself. He even created some long-ranged Juuken techniques of his own.

Elruda was also quite drawn in to Maito Gai and his student Lee's story. According to the book, Hyuuga Neji was also part of the same team Rock Lee was on. But while the legendary Hyuuga figure was the prodigy of the team, Rock Lee was a lackey. Oh... He had no chakra at all. But he became a ninja still, with brute strength and taijutsu alone. Indeed, it was remarkable, the fierce spirit of Konoha's generation at that time. Also, most notably, the village wasn't that strong when the legendary Konoha twelve grew in strength and prowess. But they, along with Uzumaki Naruto who became the Rokudaime, surely made the village powerful and prosperous once more...

The readings on Godaime Hokage and Haruno Sakura was much shorter, as the books did not go in detail about their genius in the field of medicine. But it did interest her how the Godaime Hokage sent the young Rokudaime Hokage flying with one flick of her finger. Amazing... Just amazing... She thought to herself. Elruda then remembered a passage on Godaime Hokage's kinjutsu technique and how that made her almost immortal on the battlefield.

When she was done, Elruda returned the books to their proper positions on the shelf. Afterwards, she went to the medical ninjutsu section, interested in learning more about Godaime Hokage and Haruno Sakura. To her delight, she found many books on the two figures.

Carrying the books in her arms, she returned to her table and continued to read. To her, it seemed that Amegakure really did admire Konoha, especially this legendary generation that produced many sannin level shinobi. In fact, she was quite certain several medical treatment styles were derived from the Leaf. Elruda felt a flicker of pride in her heart. For the first time she truly appreciated being born into Konoha, to be part of the descendants of this famous generation. Then she remembered not everything was so perfect anymore. Now, all that got to go is the Fire master, and everyone'll be happy... She thought darkly to herself, for the first time a hint of malice in her white-gray eyes.

When she was done, Elruda wondered what else she should browse through. There was just so many topics to choose from! But this time instead, she decided she wanted to walk around the library. Noting that it was even bigger than the Hyuuga's private library, she wondered how long it took Wrath's clan to collect so many volumes.

Her eye was caught by some forbidden looking scrolls. She debated whether or not to look over them but decided against it. It it was sealed, then that means it's not for her to see. Besides, the kinjutsu book already did a good deal on her conscience... Last thing she needed to read was more about torture and such.

It had gotten late and it wasn't necessary to train Elruda deep into the night so he escorted her to a guest room for her to sleep in. Meanwhile Wrath slept outside where he was most comfortable, also the rising sun would wake him. And sure enough it had and the first thing he had done was roll Elruda out of bed and onto the floor as her wake up call. And all Wrath could simply say was, "Lets go". After waking his student he wandered into the kitchen and prepared a small bowl of rice and set it on one of the many tables for Elruda.
And when Elruda had finished her brakfast, Wrath took her outside again and outback behind the temple where his second uncle's shop was. His uncle Batou was a blacksmith so he had all kinds of contraptions out there. The shop was actually a small hut and when they both stood before it he told her to wait where she was while he entered. But he was quick to exit and he emerged from the shop with a trap. He then set it down beside Elruda and told her to disarm it.

Disarm Traps - Disarm some traps. Be careful!
DC: 10 and 16
Check: 1d20 + Int mod + Disable Device Skill.
0/2 Successes with each trap. If you fail a trap, a shuriken shoots out, with a dodge DC of 10, dealing 1-2 damage.

((The trap automatically resets itself right after you disarm it.))
