I wasn't meaning to insult, Snowman . . . just joking about how connections seem vital to do anything anymore. I know that my school stresses networking and connections. That is why I am having some cards printed up so I can hand em out ad nauseum . . . "Hi, have a card!" "How are you? Have a card." "Ohhh, your family couldn't make it, have a card!" rofl Still, meritocracy is preferable. I want people who actually know what they are doing to be in positions. That is what happened all those years ago when I promoted you and a few others in the guild. Of course, that may be a bad example. sweatdrop
At the moment, I am trying to review doctoral programs to try and see where I am going. My initial thought was to go to Educational Psych, but an in-depth analysis seems in order. Meanwhile, the career center might be of some help in finding something-ANYTHING that will make all this education worthwhile.
Honestly, without cable, my access to newer anime is limited to word of mouth and televised entertainment has not been grabbing me lately. I know I was going to give blue exorcist a go, but that is about all I had on my horizon. I also have the first season (or is it two) of Game of Thrones on a zip drive. Been meaning to go after that for a while now. The friend that gave me that also gave me "Vikings" to watch as well.
What did you have in mind for a RP? You haven't shown interest in that in forever.

No, you didn't insult me at all. Sorry if it seemed that way; I was only stating my view. I suppose I'm a tad bitter about the business world, since my school stresses business networking as well. That and I wish Software Engineering was treated more like Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (Science fields), not a Business field. The impetus for promotion at the time was due to inactivity, but I believe it was still based on merit.
True, especially for Doctoral degrees there are a lot of avenues you would be qualified to pursue.
We have basic cable (~70 channels) at my house, and they decided to remove Cartoon Network in our area. It's Toonami block was the only way I saw televised anime. For a while now I've been using the internet as my anime medium. Though not always through legitimate venues in the past (international copyright law is murky when works have yet to be licensed in one's own country), I've seen a lot. Crunchy Roll is my preferred site now, since they support the anime industry directly, though they only have subtitled anime.
As for RP, I'm really not sure. I could go for a variety of things, but nothing in particular has my attention. Perhaps something in an era in the setting I have been PMing you?
Okay, I'll read that whopper in the coming days.

I just was covering my bases. We've been friends far too long to let a misunderstanding ruin things. I was actually discussing similar aspects today with my older daughter. America is not a democracy, it is an oligarchy. In order to gain power or success, you have to ingratiate yourself to those already in power. To do that, you create a reputation, those willing to attest to your skills. Such can be customers, clients, coworkers, or even prior employers. Networking is a necessary evil . . . but that doesn't make it any less evil.
The impetus for their demotion was inactivity. The impetus for your promotion was merit. At worst, you could say our friendship drew my attention, but does not negate the fact that you were always active, and worthy as a ranking officer.
Quote: POTENTIAL EMPLOYMENT SETTINGSPolicy and planning• Advocacy organization • City, county, state, or federal agency such as the Department of Health and Human Services • Public interest group Private sector• Nonprofit organization • Church or other religious organization • Employee assistance program • Consulting firm or practice Child welfare/children’s services• Adoption agency • County health department • Department of social services • Early intervention program • Family preservation agency • Group home • Therapeutic school/camp • Residential facility Educational institutions• Land-based or online college or university • Community college • P–12 private school • P–12 public school Criminal justice/corrections• Community-based living facility • Court • Police department • Prison • Probation department • Victim service program • Juvenile justice program Health care• Health maintenance organization • Hospice program • Senior housing facilityMental health • Community mental health center • Family service agency • Managed mental health program • Partial (day treatment) hospital • Psychiatric hospital • Residential treatment center
That list of potential career paths outshines the other three options for me by far, while showing several interesting parallels to my passions. Thus, I have chosen to pursue the path of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior with a specialization in General Advanced Studies in Human Behavior. I can only have faith that such is what will work for me. I am in too far to grow timid now.
To be fair, I still need to read the latest Era . . . for that I apologize. Life has been catching up to me lately. sweatdrop I'll see if I can get back to it soon.
No need for a hurry. It will be there when you are interested and have time. smile

Okay, no problem. Well, America is still a republic on paper, though much of what made it a republic has been diminished to the point of a near-democracy. Free markets are flexible enough to, as you say, make most things functionally/practically an oligarchy.
Whew, that's no short list of options! All right, that sounds like a good plan to me. I wish you luck in pursuing your PhD.
That's fine, I understand how busy life can be w/ balancing school, family, and work.

Yeah, the advisor was impressed with how much work and thought I put into my choice. Originally, I was planning on a PhD in Educational Psychology . . . but this one seems to be more applicable to things beyond just schools.

Oh, did you compile that quoted list by yourself? Yeah, being a bit more general can be a benefit, as it's often easy to pick up the particulars of a sub-field later.

It was copied from a file sent to me. The advisor sent four files, each with potential specializations, potential job outcomes, and some of the focus points of the degree. Kind of a mouthful, though. A doctorate in Avanced studies in human behavior . . . sweatdrop

And you've every right to be confident in your accomplishments. Cool, glad those finally came in.
EDIT: I finished reading the paper you posted; it was very thorough. As I'm sure you would expect given the subject matter, I disagree with your analysis of the "hate sin, love sinner" ideology, though our opposing views are the result of our differing worldviews.

In all honesty, I did not put that ideology out there. That is a direct quote from the paper cited nearby. The point of these papers is to keep as much emotion and supposition out of them as possible. This is a research paper, citing further research from reliable sources. In the literary section is merely touching on previous research to build upon. I do not have nearly enough experience with religion to make any remarks with certainty. Goodness knows I have some bias and issues with organized religion to begin with. sweatdrop
My stance is that gender and equality have serious gaps in several religions, but I don't have to agree with other's beliefs to accept the depth of belief in others.

That's fine. The purpose of the paper is to propose research, and in this case to make certain assumptions on what kind of results to expect based on previous research. The "love the sinner, hate the sin" is something I have seen many times, and seemed valid. It also was cited from a peer-reviewed and scientific paper. I have no problem with others agreeing or disagreeing with it, but the results are meant only as a basis for the current experiment. My portion, that is to say what I came up with, begins in the Methods section. From there, the expected results and conclusions are based off of data, but authored by me.
