But, yeah. They are battle monks, especially Chaplains. They go into battle chanting litanies of faith or, in the case of Chappies, screaming their own litanies of hatred against the enemy.

First of all, chapters are modelled after structure of Knightly Orders of medieval age. Add to this crusades, Inquisition links etc. and you have very monastic/religious theme. Some chapters take it more to extremes with Dark Angels using monastic robes over power armor, and Black Templars literally borrowing name from one of medieval Orders...

Plus they are chaste and an all-man society of men who are incapable of normal life.

They are not just Super Human Holy Monk; They are ANGRY Super Human Holy Monks. xD
I think that´s the most common joke about space marines, but can´t blame it being incorrect. <.<

Hey just a quick thought here; what would you say is the best tank in the Space Marine armoury?
Personally i say a Redeemer, its tough, durable and can toast an enemy within seconds.

Comes down to the person. Some say Land Raider (and its variants) because it packs a formidable weapons layout, large passenger capacity, high armor, Machine Spirit rules, and their general shock value.
I personally love Vindicators. They're comparably much less expensive and, given the power that is a S10 Large Blast, they can fit into just about any role. The only thing that I really dislike about them is the short range, but I honestly haven't had any serious issues with being outmaneuvered by enemy armor or units in recent battles.

The other thought that I had after posting was the Ironclad Dreadnought. With AV 13-13-11, it's one of the most heavily armored things out there. That and, given the armament that it can pack on, it can be a very serious threat.
That and it can slam in via Drop Pod on the first turn and seriously screw over your enemy from turn 1.

The regular Land Raider is and remains the end to all means toolbox tank for the Astartes. Plus it has the longest ranged weapons of the three established CODEX variants, ignoring the rare FW and Apocalypse variants for the sake of keeping my sanity. The only problem with the Land Raider is that players can't decide on how to properly use it. It has lascannons, a heavy bolter and depending on the flavour either a storm bolter or a multi-melta. Now, are you go to use it as an assault transport, mobile bunker or tank hunter?

I've always loved the Whirlwind. A barrage of missiles each turn plus its nasty against a horde army as you can equip castellan missiles and cover into absolutely nothing as it ignores cover saves
