Like those girls from that small town in Massachusetts back in the year 200-[something]. They got pregnant on purpose. 3nodding I blame the media, parents, teenagers, the government and most importantly; Adam and Eve for biting that fruit. The fruit merely gave them genius stupidity..all those top lab scientists that have no idea the light bulb died, intent on checking the fuse box instead.
Listening the to Snakes and not that phantom voice that keeps giving useful advice was their downfall.

Single and childless for life ftw. Save society from further corruption. Though society's already too corrupt to be worth saving.

X_of_Pentacles Divorces cost far more then the marriage I'm afraid. Court house fees to get married>practically free. Courthouse fees for divorce? At least 5k and X amount of months to be finalized. Couseling is relatively cheap in comparison; friends, coworkers, self-help books.. These are also relationships, which are much more complicated to solve "talk to your friends" or "read a book". And usually, people just don't up and divorce at the smallest incident. More to the point, effectively promoting good marriage costs more than fees for divorce, which costs more than marriage. Quote: The government should know better. I figure it'd all be good. Personally, that commercial features two circus clowns holding a sign saying "working together gets you more..not less. Counseling FTW." I think it would be disastrous for any country that places importance on personal choice. Besides - that commercial would imply married people are clowns, which is not only offensive, but an incorrect analogy. Quote: Abusers get couseling once they're in prison, infidelity/campatible/won't listen..all have counseling value. Never said it was good, but reality has taught me those who won't listen would need to be deaf for a week to understand what the victim is going though.(has two incompatible parents who refuse to adapt/adjust.) You assume all people who abuse others are A) caught and B) the only type of abuse is physical abuse. Quote: Never said it didn't complicate matters. It's assumed in the criminal justice system I'm afraid. :S All those executives stealing money in AIG and such..they happen to be the minority. They didn't exactly donate the lump sum to the poor either. We could cut cost of soldiers in Germany and bring them back, or cut the after school programs..the latter seem to have won..:S Generally, we tend to say "military first, school later," because it's a lot harder to keep the children in school if the city is on fire because the military failed to do its job. In times of economic hardship, the social programs are usually some of the first to go, since that is a privilidge of the wealthy. I'm not saying I like it, of course - and in truth, we probably can cut back on military spending - but I at least understand the reasons why. (Grudgingly.) Quote: Our Government, We as society..I hate to generalize, but anyone who doesn't seem to riot somehow have to scream and create general terror to be heard (Example-criminals/ marches/women/children/liberals). A one man army doesn't get a response from Government officials. Fair point. But I'm guessing you're meaning the United States, as opposed to someone in Sweden, Canada, South America. I just wanted to make clear that I was arguing as a person living in the society you're speaking of, since I wouldn't feel comfortable arguing for a society I'm not familiar with. Quote: Alas, another stumbling block in econamics-The Feds can put back all that money they took from the original fund, but not get that bonus. The same Government is backed by insurence companies who refuse to cap the limits or meet the minimum pay net for the year (thus the need for Medicaid-Working a fast food joint, I can't pay for Blue Cross Blue shield-I know I could pay for one month and still not use it in a year. This is something that could follow phone hour credits. I'll agree that there's too many fingers in the Government's pie, so to speak. (Mmm. Pie.) Quote: I feel your pain, but realize that while I hate to generalize, I did generalize. 1 out of 4(It's close at least) is a criminal. While a minority in society, virtually all had divorced/ single parent homes where polygamy would have worked out..*one inmate supposedly had 9 children from 4 girlfriends-he was also dating someone on the inside as well* Ahhh, but polygamy starts cutting into ethics. Quote: We could cut out the Soldiers in allied countries, the NEEDED bonuses for politicians( I work more hours then they do..they got $50+ an hour! and they didn't have to work holidays.. sad ) or put all that inevitable money towards After school programs and counseling commercials all over the place. Like I said..bad behavior runs the country. Good luck getting the guys in charge of everyone's pay to lower their own pay. Personally I'd like to see a boost in mental health. Most of the Asylums (asylum, meaning, a place to go to find safety and help) got closed in the 80's. Quote: *This was fun..oh dear. I'm turning into my parents! 0.0'..(Runs off to check for back problems and bad cholesterol* No worries. Oppositional discourse makes me all warm and fuzzy, too. heart

Alysoun I hope I'm not kicking a dead horse or anything here, but I'd like to blame retarded/shallow teenagers for also screwing up society/marriage in general. I was sitting in English class today, writing my essay. This girl that sits next to me was discussing/ranting with her friend about how she and her boyfriend are gonna get married and have a kid before her boyfriend goes off to be in the army or whatever. She went into great detail about how she believes she has all the costs of everything taken care of and all that. She mentioned having to get a 'job' [the words 'career' or 'vocation' never came up.] To me, her plan sounded a lot like 'just barely getting by in life' which doesn't seem stable enough to raise a family. Really, I'd love to commend her for taking the time to plan some of it out in her head, but the catch is? SHES 16. Damn. Your brain's not done developing AT ALL. Someone you like at 16's gonna be a different person in another 10 years. Wonderful setup for problems in a marriage, which usually leads to a divorce. And, like X said, there's a good chance the kids could be doing the same exact thing their parents did. Wonderful vicious circle, people, well done. [/endrant] [[Wow you people post fast. Or maybe I take too long to post.]] Just part of being a teenager if you ask me, but yup. That's pretty stupid. I dunno. Maybe folks like you and I can roam the Internet, finding girls like that and educating them like masked superheroes. Which means we need to come up with secret names and a secret handshake.

Alysoun No, I do believe she is. There's too many stupid teenagers in my school. Obviously practicing safe sex or even getting an abortion at some point very early on was out of the question to those 14 or so pregnant girls in my 3500-person high school. I'd like to bet half of them did it on purpose. A lot of scientists concluded that it might be based of off teaching abstinence instead of safe sex. Wish I could find the news article where I'd read that, though. gonk

^ Yea, I've read about that. My highschool sort of teaches the facts about both in Health A, which is required for graduation [hooray for MA school systems?] Ironically/Coincidentally there wasn't a single pregnant girl in my Health class. rolleyes

They should say, "Wait to have sex, but if you're gonna do it, use a condom." It makes more sense than just saying. "DON'T HAVE SEX!" But then there's Catholics; apparently they don't believe in contraceptives? confused ...Except for my dad. I found a condom once in his drawer. biggrin ...He is such a whore, but I'm glad he wraps it before he taps it. cool ADD: Btdubs, Aly, there were no pregnant girls in my health class either, but there was one in my English class. 3nodding And in my sophomore year of college, one girl was like 4 months pregnant when we graduated in May. And that's my pregnancy report. biggrin

While there are those who have a fear of clowns, it's not the worst case scenario..they could use badgers or Tasmanian Devils instead surprised
Whether abuse is caught or not, the couselor is required by law(In US) to report it anyway. Abuse will always seem to go unreported. Unless your family/doctor/co-workers/friends haven't been pushed away yet, you have to work up the emotional courage yourself. Tad hard when you feel lower then dirt. While the stats of women reporting it keep going up, it's only recently that boys/men who were abused have risen. Our big strong men apparently don't get injured..unless they're doctor's patients' or Catholic boys.
I think we learned both abstinence and Safe Sex, but our 'children' were edible chicken eggs and even the teacher saw failure before he gave us the assignment. That was a depressing class period.

Jehovah's Witnesses don't report sexual abuse; they believe that that's a family matter and should be resolved without the police.

Someone who works for both sides. I'm a failure as a JW, but would totally report the abuse anonymously anyway. I'm just that kind of person.
