Sadly, Vin.
I'm not trying to be mean, but I roll with a LOT more then I should.
Understanding through books and real life experience really don't even come close.
I don't care, its just roleplay. But if I was like OUT TO WIN IT OR ELSE.
I could find a lot of holes in some of the s**t you did and the logic you use.
No offense.

Which is usually why I don't use, or rather don't make characters based around the art of grappling in it's most complex forms.
Either you know too much and the opponent knows too little creating "the mess;" OR you both have similar knowledge and one of you think you know better and create "the mess" regardless.
Of course, you do get some good matches, though it isn't very exciting to me. But a good text grappling match is few and far between, then again the same could be said for RP fights period.
Though, you will probably see takedowns or clinches which are many things aside from just grappling/wrestling moves.

Aguentar Bjorn Kearney Sadly, Vin. I'm not trying to be mean, but I roll with a LOT more then I should. Understanding through books and real life experience really don't even come close. Well, rolling with it usually how it goes. I'm spoiled, though. Back then, not many roleplayers understood grappling, so I had it easy comboing into finishers with submissions. I was able to get off arm bars, ankle bars, even triangle chokes cause no one knew HOW to fight against grappling. So yes, when I did the Athena vs. Bear Round 1 fight, I was expecting that my current experience would help me. But after the first clash and the two breaking away, I knew then you knew what you were doing. I may not have that trained experience like you in real life, but you can't immediately just throw out all credit that I have when it comes to simulating grappling in roleplay. I knew what I was doing, but you had yourself look like Judo was like superior to anything I did. Athena wasn't even committing to some of the amateur stuff you see in regular Judo training sessions, which was why I didn't think she was suppose to be thrown that easily in the first place.

That's what you should be, Fiend, a grappler for hire.

Vintrict However, Athena is probably going to end up beating Bear to death with strikes rather than grappling once she sees he's too experienced to get into favorable positions. Basically, my solution to just about everything when it comes to someone who just want to hug you.. Trying to out hug someone isn't going to win you the fight. That's when you break out the swift knee to the nuts. Or the unexpected elbow to the face.

That is actually just my character THINKING THAT.
In reality Judo isn't the end all be all. Though most of its throws are very hard to counter if execute properly.
I would like to rematch though. I'm not trying to discredit you, I'm just saying. Real life experience really helps. Especially when it comes to throws and momentum and foot placement.
That s**t is hard to realize until you get thrown.

I completely understand, Fiend. I had a lot of sparring and training sessions at my college's martial art club and they make you reconsider really quickly your perceptions on fighting.

Vin: Cool. We do need to rematch though.
But don't think i'll roll over and die from strikes!
I can strike too! Just not as well as I can grapple.
