Toby laughed. "Toby's right here--" but they were already off on the adventure of clothes-shopping. He didn't like it much, although he didn't mind when it was with Maia. He was simple. He wore simple clothes. Girls got all of the fun stuff.
Dari was already making his way through the clearance rack with a furrowed brow. Hmm... "Skirts? Vintage? Nothing tight."
"Hey, good guess, Slimebag," Toby said, nudging him as he finally caught up. Dari smiled. Nobody knew these boys better than their partner, except maybe for Maia.

Maia kissed Toby's cheek when he caught up. "Hey love," she greeted. "I haven't picked anything out yet. Want to help?"
Dari was good at picking things out, but maybe Toby would be better at it than he'd been the first time they'd gone to the mall.

"What size is she?" Toby whispered. Dari just chuckled and continued searching. He saw a knitted shrug that was far too warm and a sweater dress and decided that 'Clearance' meant 'left-over winter crap' and abandoned that search for the rest of the store.
"What about that?" Dari asked, pointed to a light white spring jacket with no closures. "Or those?" He pointed to the pleated skirts. Price didn't concern him. Whatever it was, he could afford it for his friend.

Maia picked up the jacket and beamed at Dari. He knew her tastes! She selected two skirts and looked to the guys. "Do you think they'll have spring dresses out?" She asked hopefully.

"They should," Dari said, "...yeah. Over here." He pointed behind his head and started for a corner of the store where there hung an array of spring dresses in all different styles. Now Toby joined the frey, approaching a polka-dotted print.
"How about this one?" he asked. Admittedly he knew very little about fashion, but he knew what he liked when it was on Maia.

Maia took the dress from Toby and studied it before beaming at him. "I like it," She said. "Ooh, and this one," She selected one with a solid color except for a sash around the waist. "Do you like it, Toby?"

Toby smiled so broadly his eyes were wrinkling at the mere fact that Maia was so blatantly enjoying herself. He nodded. "It's cute."
After a time the group continued plus a few bags. Seamus wasn't too sore about being left outside of shops to wait, especially when he got ice cream in return. The second store, however, led to nothing but an empty building.
"Damn it!" Toby cussed. Why wouldn't they update their listings?! Maybe it was for the best. It had to be a really shitty shop to close, right? Augh, it was still dispiriting.

Maia took Toby's hand and squeezed it. "Let's go to the next one," she said. She was disappointed. She had hoped this place would be the right one. "I'm sure we'll find something there." They had to find one. Dari's happiness depended on it.

Dari tried to not show his own disappointment, but his expression did go a bit blank. He smiled only when Toby looked to him, and the werewolf nodded. Sure. They'd keep going. If it wasn't one of these today, they'd just have to... order one offline and rush the shipping or something; hope it wasn't counterfeit. Bah.
"Third time's the charm, right?"
Seamus meowed and trundled beside them toward the next shop.

Maia entered the shop, hoping to find what they needed. "Hello," she greeted the person at the counter. "Do you have any jewelry? My friend here's looking for something specific."

The shop smelled of incense. That in and of itself wasn't disturbing, but the chime as they entered was. Dari waved as he was metioned, but he shifted his weight slightly. He didn't really like it here.
Once more Maia took initiative and the hipster-looking young man from behind the counter nodded. "Sure, we have all kinds of jewelry. What are you looking for?"
"Crystals," Dari said.
"Wait, crystals or jewelry?" the shop boy asked. Toby rolled his eyes.

"Jewelry with crystals," Maia specified. Was this boy slow in the head? Weren't crystals common in jewelry? "Or just crystals, whichever," she shrugged and looked to the boy expectantly.

"Oh, sure! Yeah! We have these-- here, let me show you." The boy motioned for Maia to follow and brought her to a terribly overpriced but decent-looking jewelry selection. Many of the pieces involved crystals, but almost all were altered from their original state, not raw as the list Lori gave suggested, and generally small and/or on necklaces, not rings. A little basket of 25-cent "stone bands" sat atop the counter.
Dari began to look over the rings in the basket. 25 cents? Really? It was what they were looking for, wasn't it? He looked up to Toby hopefully.

Maia picked up a stone ring to study it. She looked at it suspiciously, and then looked at the shop boy. Genuine crystals were usually much more expensive, weren't they? But maybe... "We'll take these," she held up one that resembled Aventurine, and another that resembled jade.

Dari felt nothing. Toby felt nothing. Seamus, however, knew a fake from the real thing. He was a natural sort of fae after all, and those were not genuine stones! The sidhe walked to Maia and bit her hard on the ankle, not enough to break the skin but enough to definitely hurt. Toby looked at him inquisitively. Dari's mood visibly sank. Oh, what now?
