"Alright, let's go!" Colton said as he stepped outside, took two steps to the left and tossed a Pokeball into the air to release Trapinch. "Alright. Based on the electromagnetic signature of the Ruins, it appears the we need to go straight down at 45 degree angle until we hit some metal object." he noted as he looked at the hologram hovering above his TADS.
As if on cue, Trapinch made an enormous hole that trailed straight downward.

Caleb followed Colton and Maddy outside. He blinked a bit as the Trapinch was sent out and started digging. At least he didn't need his own. That one still seemed to be going through her teething phase and those teeth hurt! He let his Chinchou out though as he prepared to head down into the tunnel.

Maddy crossed her arms, waiting with Ginji and Caleb as the tunnel was dug. "Charmander, help out, will ya?" She said to her Pokémon, nodding her head towards the slowly growing hole. Charmander nodded in response and rushed forward to help dig the tunnel, widening it as Trapinch dug downward.

Together Charmander and Trapinch dug and dug downward as exactly a 45 degree angle until Trapinch's teeth landed squarely on a metal door handle. "I think this is our stop." Colton smirked as the door was uncovered. Colton tried the door handle but it wouldn't budge. However, words started to glow into the metal surface of the door.
What force and strength can not get through, I with a gentle touch can do, and many in the streets would stand, were I not as a friend in hand.
"Arceus' beard, what does that mean?" Colton said, puzzled.

Maddy blinked a few times and then shook her head. "That's certainly an odd way of telling us the door is locked." She peered around the tunnel they were in. "Think there's a key buried nearby?" She asked the others.

"I think we have to answer the riddle." Colton said as he looked at the stability of the door. It didn't look like the door could be knocked down.

Caleb stared a bit as the Charmander pitched in. He looked down to his Chinchou, "I don't suppose you know how to use Dig too?" The Chinchou just blinked at him. "I didn't think so..." he sighed.
He stared as they came upon a door that suddenly glowed when touched. Before he could say anything about the riddle, Maddy announced the answer. A key? Yeah that sounded about right.
"I didn't see any key on the way down...it could possibly be burried still..." he shrugged.

As the two Aqua members said the word "Key" The door busted fell inward and a bright light bathed the group as a large room was laid out before them.
The room had giant stone platforms raised out of steaming hot water. On each platform stood a single Pokemon, growling menacingly. To give an idea, some of the platforms had Charmeleon, some had Slowbro, Torkoal, or a variety of other Pokemon that would enjoy the hot springs. and On the far side of the room, a treasure chest could be seen out of the fog. The based on the thermal convection, the group could tell that the temperature of the water increased as they neared the chest. A misstep into the water near the far wall would certainly be painful. The group could see some of the platforms moving around the room "I assume those will try and stop us if we get too close to the chest." he noted to the others as he pointed at the platforms.
"Wow! So this is a Ruins." Colton exclaimed as he hopped on to one of the three empty stone platforms in front of him and the Charmeleon across the gap immediately let a Flamethrower attack right towards him.
"Looks like we'll have to fight our way across. A minimum of three battles each should be able to get us there." He said as he turned to Maddy and Caleb.

Caleb flinched as the door fell inwards when they spoke. His Chinchou shook a little. Although there was plenty of moisture in the air, it was still a little too warm for her liking. Caleb called her back. It was bright enough for him to not need his pokemon for the time being at least.
He followed Colton and Maddy into the room, looking at all the pokemon relaxing on the platforms. When Colton pointed out that they would have to fight three pokemon, he was more than eager to do so. He hopped onto the closest platform, before stumbling. His face was pale, hoping he would trip and fall into the boiling water. He breathed a sigh of relief as he caught his footing. Until he realized he was stepping on a tail. A tail with a tip engulfed in flames.
Caleb turned his head to see a growling Charmeleon. It looked none too happy about being stepped on. "Sorry about that..." he said, moving his foot. The Charmeleon just snarled in reply. It looked like it definitely wouldn't just let him pass after that either. He sent out his Fennekin. She looked furious about where they were. Her fur was starting to get all frizzled from the heat.
"Use Psybeam!" he ordered. The Charmeleon countered with Dragon Rage. "Umm...Light Screen!" he offered. The Charmeleon's Flamethrower bounced off the screen, but the heat from it was still quite intense. "Psychic!" he ordered. His Fennekin's eyes glowed a light blue. The Charmeleon became outlined in light blue. It was now frozen in place.
"Now that you can't resist anymore..." he muttered, taking out a spare poke ball. He tossed it at the Charmeleon.
Caleb recalled his Fennekin and moved onto the next platform. A Torkoal was on this one. Caleb regrettably sent out his Trapinch. "Use Bulldoze..." he ordered. The Trapinch stomped across the platform and into the Torkoal. "Superpower!" Caleb called, noticing the Torkoal was moving even slower than usual now. After defeating it. Caleb called back his Trapinch quickly and moved on.
A Slowbro was waiting on the next platform. Caleb greeted it by sending out his Mudkip and ordering it to use Mud-Slap. Then another.
"Take Down" he ordered as the Slowbro's next attack missed. After knocking out the Slowbro, Caleb called back his Mudkip and jumped over to the side of the room with the treasure chest and waited for Maddy and Colton.

Maddy looked towards the first platform and found herself face-to-face with a Charmander. She sent out her own Charmander, to see which of the two was the stronger. The two Pokémon jumped across the platforms at each other, showering each other with fire. Neither of them were phased by the attacks, but kept at it anyways. It seemed they had quickly established a rivalry. After a few intense moments, the two Charmanders came to a stop; standing on opposite platforms and breathing heavily. Maddy decided it was finally time to give some guidance. "Slash attack!" She barked. Her Charmander nodded and leapt forward slashing at his foe with sharp claws. The other Charmander stumbled backwards, almost falling off the platform. It regained it's footing somehow and blasted Charmander in the face with a Flamethrower attack. Normally, the attack wouldn't hurt much, but both Charmanders were weak, so Blaze had come into effect and in his exhaustion, Maddy's Charmander didn't quite have the strength to defend himself. "Hang in there, Charmander. One more Slash should do it!" Charmander weakly nodded and attacked once more, sending the other Charmander flying off the platform and down below. He almost fell and tumbled off the platform himself, but Maddy recalled him. Maddy jumped onto the first platform. It was quite sturdy. On the next platform was a Camerupt. She sent out her Greninja to face this one. "Surf!" A powerful wave of water rushed over the field, drenching the Camerupt. The Pokémon nearly slipped off the platform, but managed to hold it's ground. It responsed with a Take Down, jumping platforms and hitting Greninja hard in an attempt to knock the frog off his own platform. Camerupt took a bit of damage itself. "Finish it off, Gren. Water Pulse!" Camerupt went flying off the platform and down below. Maddy recalled Greninja and hopped forward a platform. The next one was a little smaller and sway a little, but it was nothing the ex-thief couldn't handle. The last opponent was a Charmeleon, so Maddy sent out her Sliggoo. The Charmeleon started the battle off with a Dragon Claw attack, it's claws glowing with a bloody light as it slashed Maddy's Sliggoo. Luckily, her Sliggoo was holding an Eviolite, so she had boosted Defenses. "Muddy Water!" A wave of brown water washed over the Charmeleon, which hastily rushed to protect it's tail. The attack was strong and reduced the lizard's accuracy, but it still had enough energy left to fight. It rushed forward with another Dragon Claw attack, but missed and almost fell of the edge of a platform. It glared angrily in Sliggoo's general direction. It couldn't afford any more reckless attacks like that. "Rain Dance!" Sliggoo turned around in a circle and waved it's little arms in the air (it couldn't really do much else for a 'dance') and it began to rain, increasing the power of Water-type attacks. Charmander growled furiously and shot a powerful Flamethrower at the small Dragon-type. The attack hit but didn't hurt her very much. "Another Muddy Water!" The attack was much stronger this time, washing Charmeleon off it's platform and finishing the battle. Maddy crossed the gap and awaited her partners.

"Wailmer Surf!" Colton called out as the whale Pokemon descended into the boiling hot water, its Water Veil making it immune to the heat. A tidal wave of biblical proportions washed over the nearest Charmeleon. The fire Pokemon hissed as it launched fireballs in Wailmer's general direction. The fire attacked seemed to do nothing as Wailmer attacked with another Surf, this time doing lethal damage.
On the second block, a Torkoal attacked with a Fire Blast, seriously injuring Wailmer. "Trapinch, you're up." Colton called as he switched his Pokemon out. "Use Earthquake!" he yelled as the water and the blocks a like shook with vicious malice, knocking the Torkoal into the water and causing it to faint.
Together the team hopped to the next block and came face to face with a vicious Goldeen that attacked Trapinch with Water Gun for the knock out. "Drifloon! Thunder!" the teen yelled as clouds gathered in the chamber and a flash of lightning struck the small fish Pokemon and fried all nearby water Pokemon antagonists. "That's how we do it." The teen smirked as he recalled his Pokemon and headed for the treasure chest.

The group stood at the far end of the room. The Ruins were defeated, so the stone pillars rearranged themselves to cover the boiling hot water and lay out a flat floor like surface. The water has disappeared and all that was left was the stone tiling the floor and the treasure chest.
"So... who wants to do the honors?" Colton shrugged as he looked at the ornate chest. There didn't appear to be a lock on it and it seemed to just open right up.

Caleb was glad to get past the puzzle and the angry pokemon. Not to mention the scalding hot water he did not want to fall in. He was more than relieved to see the room change, although a bit curious as to what mechanism enabled it to do so.
When Colton asked them who wanted to do the honors, Caleb raised an eyebrow. He looked to the chest as well while pondering for a moment.
"Ladies first?" he offered.

"Hah!" Maddy laughed. "I bet it's trapped somehow. Someone else can open it." She stood back a ways, her arms crossed. "Colton, you brought us here. How about you open it?" She said with a smirk.

Colton sighed. "I doubt it would be trapped at this stage." he smirked as he kicked the chest. "Think we can pawn whatever comes out of this?" he said as the lid fell open and the wall behind the chest lit up with a picture of three Pokemon.
On the left looked like a distorted version of Groudon, the right looked like Kyogre. And finally, there was Rayquazza in the middle, flying over the other two. [At this point, the party's fossils would react and attack the party. However...]
After glowing for a solid minute, the picture slide apart three ways. In the wall a Sail fossil appeared under Groudon, a Helix fossil under Kyogre and an Old Amber under Rayquazza. "Well, I call Helix!" Colton yelled as he grabbed the fossil and pocketed it.
