Tenkai Matsumoto notmuch_23 Due to the lack of physician/healer posts by those not being treated, I might have to RP in the infirmary as Dr. Todd Quinlan from Sacred Heart (i.e. Scrubs). Quinlan? Yeah, I looked at the Scrubs page on TV.com and they list High-Five- Todd's last name as Quinlan.

I don't know if I want to join this debate to end child porn stories or not.
On one hand, yeah, they should be banned...
On the other, when you turn on the light, you scatter the roaches...
Decisions, decisions.

Well, if there are no objections, Dr. Todd Quinlan from Sacred Heart Hospital, and a recurring character from Scrubs is going to operate on some fighters.

Eh, screw it. I think it might be tough to roleplay even a normal physician if you're not one.
Oh, excuse me, I forgot a key component of what I should put with every one of my posts.
A DUUUUUR! I'm a Wetaaaad! De de deeeee!
[/heavy sarcasm]
All I was trying to propose is perhaps a little more roleplaying in the infirmary, since there are quite a few characters in there that need medical attention, and I thought I could do it in a humorous manner.

Well, yeah. I usually ramble about all sorts of s**t.
In this case sex stories in general. They're pretty popular, either in book format or... well, online. It's sort of amusing that people will go out and buy a novel about that kind of s**t when there are so many capable writers giving it out for free online.
That being the case, obviously stories range different genres, or tags. Most porn sites will restrict certain videos for legal or moral reasons ( true rape, child pornography, bestiality, etc etc ) while the textual equivalents are largely overlooked. It's usually because the text is secondary, and more of a community thing.
Since there can be sex stories about those immoral subjects ( among many others, but I digress ) the argument arises that communities can form in support of these things. The idea is that if a site hosts material of this type in any way, then it will be celebrated and reinvented, or distributed, to harmful effect.
Now, the argument itself is whether or not these things should be banned. Some people think that by having these as a form of "release" it helps keep the real-world activities down. This is unfortunately not the case, and people who think this are ignorant to the patterns of sexual predators. Like other common addictions they follow patterns of increasing need or intensity, so what can start as simply reading fictitious material will never remain so indefinitely.
The other main argument is the expression of writers, or freedom of speech. This is a whole different can of worms where you have people who support FoS within reasonable limits, and those that think FoS should be able to explore anything. This is actually a debate all its own that spans all of the US, ( its representation in other countries being less fanatical )
I was simply wondering if I should involve myself. When you take away an opening like this and lay down the law, the sickos simply move to another forum. It's impossible to regulate them ( due to staff restraints I imagine ) unless you're like... the FBI, and even then, since these are communities of like-minded individuals they warn one another about "hot" places where law enforcement is taking effect.
To be honest, I think it's an understudied facet of the internet, roleplay and amateur writing in general, sexual or otherwise.

Freedom of speech? Now that's quite amusing. People might think we have such a thing, but in reality, we don't. I believe, people were aiming for having the word, "retard", banned from public speaking. That's quite reasonable, but the fact that it's not normally used against the mentally ill, I don't see the point in it. Then again, I'm quite the hypocrite, and I'll probably be hanging out in Hell.

Nobody is harmed by it.
Well, aside from the English language, but if you're gonna go read kiddy porn stories or fap at loli, then it's arguable that you know more or less what you're looking for.
Tasteless? Probably. My business, or the government's? No.
