DP - yeah, she's had a little fever off and on today and has had some really fussy moments where I can tell she doesn't feel good. I hope she does better tomorrow, but if she's still feeling kind of crappy, that gives me an excuse to skip out on this thing tomorrow night that I really don't feel like going to. Heh heh...I wish they would have given the shots after the checkup because after the shots, she was hysterical! I've never heard her cry so hard - not even when she had colic!

Nopen - I've got playgroup tomorrow and am going to ask around where the other moms in there go. I know a few go to a different ped and they love them. I have a visit to my family doctor in a few weeks and was going to ask them too at what age do they like to start to see the little ones because I do love my family doctor!

A friend of mine said that the secondary doctors always seem to have a fast turnaround at this clinic. It was the main doctor who came in today and like I said, he hadn't seen her since she had jaundice at a month old! I got passed to the other doctor and eventually the nurse practitioner (who I actually liked better than the two doctors!). He said Lauren should be weighing 19-20 pounds now (she weighs 17, but has always been small and has always been breastfed) and that I needed to feed her 3 bottles of pediasure every day for 3 months. OK...pediasure is like $14 for a 6 pack! Yeah right! I'm just going to give her more servings of milk!

I don't think I'd mind the different doctors so much if we didn't have this weight issue (aka...I have a HEALTHY, HAPPY, PETITE little girl) hanging over our head all the time! If the NP had seen her today, knowing her history beyond what was graphed on the chart, I bet she would have said, "Ah, she's fine! Just give her more milk!"

Sorry to gripe so long! >_<

17 lbs instead of 19.

pssshhh that doesn't sound like a huge deal to me.

OH about shots ask your doctor, like call up or at the appointment previous if the shots they get next cause fever and pain.

Dr. T always tells me. Because there are some shots that apparently have Zip side effects and as soon as the shot pain in the leg wear off they should be good as in the antivirus just DOES NOT cause fever, EVER. Then you can know whether how your child is acting as they should due to the shots or is really sick/having an adverse reaction.

Pfft, 17 versus 19.

Although tip from friends and hubby, don't buy Ensure, it is sooo expensive! Slimfast, when NOT a meal replacement works just as well. Or put instant breakfasts in her milk.

As for shots, I was surprised by Logan's last set. Apparently, the MMR causes delayed fevers, 7-10 days later. But I myself prefer NP over docs when it comes to being more personable.

It's perfectly okay to gripe.

My son has actually been seeing a family doctor all of his life. He loves his doctor though and completely trusts him.

At least you didn't do what I did. I accidently scheduled his first birthday party too close to when he got his shots and he was not a happy camper all that day. He actually cried when he got his birthday cupcake.

eek I'm kinda glad the DoD does things how they do: kids can't get their shots until after they've had their Well Baby check-ups. No check-up, no vaccines.

Speaking of which, Ethan has his on Friday, I hope he doesn't have a level 5 poo bomb again. sweatdrop Our friends' daughter is turning one and we're going to the party a couple hours after. Would be a shame to have to cut and run early because of an explosive baby. Heh.

Alienarose -
Poor baby! They shouldn't have made you wait that long after shots to see the doctor. Actuall they should be like 98.9% of other Dr offices and give the shots after the check up. Want me to go beat them with cast iron for ya?

Nickki had her 6mo shots monday. She's been so fussy and clingy since then. But for her it's normal, she'll be back to playing all the time in a day or so more. I don't care for our Pedi. They always tend to rush us out and even though we've asked them not to use latex gloves or bandaids on her they still do. My sister in law as a lethal allergy to latex, we just want to be cautious in case Nichole has the allergy as well. Not likely she does, but better safe than sorry. Our Pedi also only give you the shot information packets if you ask them for it a few times. I really want to switch her doctor but with Nickki being on medicaid (Grrr) we're really limited on where we can take her. Though once I'm finished with school and have a job, we should be able to afford some better health care for her.

I think I've typed enough xd

@Manda - Don't feel bad. My cousin Ricky would get poop in his hair EVERY time he pooped while he was wearing diapers. It didn't matter whether or not he had just gotten shots. He'd just explode and it would get all over him, his hair, and his clothes.

I prefer NP also. Yeah and giving shots before the check up seems like a bad idea.
We are having shot issues. The preschool claims Sascha needs 3 more shots. But I think it is a mix up. *sigh* I hate dealing with this kind of stuff. I don't even know where to begin. I have her shot records and the military said she was up to date. Now we are civilian again, and uuuhhh I don't know, it all makes my head hurt.

In other news... Tomarrow Alex becomes a US citizen. It's crazy that he's going to be american now. But it's about time they finished all this up, it's been 2 1/2 years since he started. I'll be glad to not have to deal with it anymore. So WHOOOO HOOO!

I was kinda shocked when you posted here that he was not a US citizen. I don't know why. Not like bad shocked or anything.

I knew his mom was German but you can have parents from anywhere XD!

Good for you guys! Citizenship PARTAY!

Silver- that's exciting.

Sorry it took me so long to get back. Thanks everybody. The citizenship ceremony went really well. Yeah Alex is from German. He's only live here about 12 years but has no accent, so that's why you'd never guess that he wasn't american. Of course now he is. lol

oh and Manda it's the Hib dose 3&4 that she is misses but I swear it's because she got the cocktail shots.

Dedrick slept in his toddler bed last night for the first time. Other than a nitemare the night went by rather smoothly actually.

I hope tonight goes by just as easily.
