I just wish we could get a wave of people to post. You know? Tons. Where you've got two or three ppl replying at once. I always thought that was fun, a bit. And the action was going so fast you couldn't afford to get more than two pages behind otherwise you were screwed (metaphorically speaking of course). What ever happened to the good o' days? *eyes glaze over as a black&white flashback takes over*

That would be my department...
The flash back anyway

Wee, homecoming. And of course, it'll be a crazy homecoming since we won last night and are still #1 in our district. This is our first ever winning season in the course of 4 years. Oh the fun that shall endure tonight.
Now to go get ready to...get ready. If that makes any sense at all...

Yeehaw. I'm getting ready for the next round of the MLB playoffs. Tigers SPANKED the Yanks, 8-1 tonight. ******** sweet. I know they lost the first game of the series, but...to essentially shut down a team like the Yankees in three games they way they did (The Yanks only scored 4 runs in the last 3 games), it's UNHEARD OF!

And to rub it in LJ's face....her Penguins lost to my Red Wings. Go Detroit!

Oh, the Motor City Kitties pwnage of the Yanks was one for the ages. That's for sure. Next up is a possible 7 game series against the Oakland Athletics. I tell you what, the A's looked DAMN good against the Twins, sweeping the AL Central Champs. But the Twins got really lucky last Sunday, cause the Tigers were swept by the Royals in the final series of the season, and the Twins HAPPENED to win on Sunday, popping them up a game. But...My God. The A's SPANKED them. So much for having the AL Batting Champ in their line-up. Hell, LJ will tell you having the batting champ in your line-up doesn't mean jackshit. The Pirates had the NL batting champ in their line-up this year and they finished second to last. In all of baseball.

The greatest thing about this Tiger team, even if they lose to the Athletics, is that they made the playoffs, gotten to the ALCS and they DESTROYED the proverbial giant of the MLB in the Yankees. Just three years ago, they had one of the worst seasons in the history of the game notching 119 games in the loss column. I've been a Tiger fan my whole life, and....that season stung. Big time.

Anyways. It's October. Playoff baseball. I LIVE FOR THIS s**t! I've been following the Tigers since I was 5 years of age. Or less. I can't remember, but I know my Grandpa and myself used to watch the Tigers all the time after he'd get out of work at nights. Listening to George Kell and the Tiger's great Al Kaline call the television games, and when we'd camp during the summer, we'd tune the radio in to Tiger's games and hear the LEGENDARY Ernie Harwell calling the games over the airwaves.

I tell you, I was nearly moved to tears last night watching the Tigers/Yankees game when ESPN brought Harwell to the booth to call a couple of innings. I don't know if it's a guy thing or what, but....man. I haven't heard that voice calling a game in over ten years. It was a great moment for Tiger's fans and an even better moment, in my opinion, for the game of baseball. Harwell's been associated with the game since the damn 1940's. And I do know, when the man does end up leaving this mortal coil, I will shed a tear. He means that much to the organization, to myself as the voice of the Tiger's, and to the game of baseball itself.

I totally understood ALL of that.

biggrin

the last baseball game I went to was an A's game with my stepdad and lil brothers.

Funny thing though, my stepdad went for the Red Sox. I went for the A's. Third grade was my first baseball game. Remember that Jumbotron? Yup. 3rd grade. THen fith then I think Freshman year and then a couple of years ago. xd

but I never follow the sport. Love going to watch though.

I've never been to a Major League game. I always lived too far from the park to go. And that correlates with one of the biggest regrets in my life: not making it to Tiger's Stadium before they closed that and opened Comerica.

It does. It does.

Hey, get this BA. A's and Tigers last played an ALCS.....34 years ago. Back when Reggie Jackson was on Oakland's club. Gonna be a helluva series this year.

I was watching the news yesterday and saw some stuf on that, people were going nuts.

Thought I thought I saw that the end score was 8-3, obviously still a spanking for the Yanks, but anyway.

I don't really follow baseball that much. It falls under the catogory of sports that I find very fun to play, but not so to watch.

Football and sometimes Hockey I like to watch, everything else isn't that big to me (well except for Olympic soccer, Lindsey Tarply went to my highschool, now that was one hell of a game).
