Nikolai stayed silent, as silent as he could be telepathically, and continued following Anya. As Sydney's message sank in, Nik pondered what she had said, wondering what her reasons were for contacting him, after all, he had failed at saving any part of Sydney. Nik thought about this for another minute or so and replied, "So you're contacting me, the guy who couldn't save even one of your emotions? You're still trapped there because of me. What can I possibly do for you?" Nik had a sinking feeling he knew where this was going. People only ever tried to contact him if they had something for him to do, or had something to tell him to then ask him to do something for him. It was really rather annoying, no one ever talked to him to just say "Hi." aside from Anya, but she was different, for obvious reasons. "I hope you realize that last time you technically contacted me, I not only failed miserably but could just barely hold my own against Rage. Granted I think I've gotten stronger since then, but still... you don't want anyone else?"
PostPosted: Sun Apr 01, 2012 8:25 pm

If she could, Sydney would have shook her head at Nik's reply. This sort of reaction was to be expected though. "Even though you think you failed, I do not believe you did. Something tells me that you are more capable than you give yourself credit for, Nikolai..." The darkness herald then seemed to go quiet. To Nikolai, it even might appear that their connection had been severed. When in reality, Sydney was just gathering her strength for the last of her message. "The reason I contacted you out of the few shadow manipulators that remain is because I know you are the most capable and perhaps you will even surpass me in time. In Azarath, Rage had the upper hand due to location, but the earth is your territory. You will be on more even playing ground. You know it better than she does, use that to your advantage. This crystal keeping me here is not as strong as it was. Rage fought Roulin Presidiomini and was injured. That will play in your favor as well. I shall do my best to help you, even from my position here in Azarath. Rage will be distracted after almost being defeated by the new Life Owl. She will not be thinking as clearly as she has been.

I realize this is asking a lot of you, Nikolai Krane... I spent centuries keeping my emotions in check, but I would rather die than spend my life as a shell without them."
Hopefully, this would be enough to give Nikolai a hint as to what she was asking of him. If not, then the next thing probably would. "The next time we meet shall be our last. I trust you will do what is necessary..." With that, Sydney stopped fighting against the regenerating crystal. This would sever her mental connection to Nikolai as well. But her message had been delivered and that was all that mattered to her.

Lucien's words were the only thing keeping the 'laziest' man alive from losing himself amongst the flashes of orange and red just outside of the cracked windows. It was strange that the airport was still standing amidst this war torn area, but it had taken it's fair amount of damage from what Che saw before landing at the terminal. Another thing that stuck out to him was the amount of people that just seemed to stare blindly forward. Their expression didn't suggest at all that they'd been petrified by fear. Their expressions didn't suggest anything at all for that matter and it drew the elder Owls curiosity. When they passed through their field of vision, their glazed eyes did follow them, but after passing on, they did nothing but stand like wax statues or like dogs waiting for their owners to return.

"Anytime kid...anytime." Che finally replied to Lucien after at least a minute or two of walking through the desolate terminal. This was eerie in it's own right, but the bushy haired man had seen much stranger things like Will or...Will. "Yeah, I do what I can despite not wanting to do a damn thing at all. It's my job to be yanked around I guess." Che looked over his shoulder to Lucien and smirked both at him and his choice of hand wear. Being the gambling man he was, he thought about shaking his hand to see if the gloves were made of Negation. He decided against the foolish thought and carried on until reaching an escalator. As they descended, Che felt the hundreds of eyes on his neck. The sooner they got out of the place, the better.

~~~
Lomoli, the blondest of the Presidiomnis, was starting to get his fill of the eyes bearing down upon him. Unlike Che and Roulin who obviously were concerned but did nothing, he stopped for a moment to look one of the statuesque individuals in the eye. They seemed to be dead mentally or something like that. They were standing vegetables, but ironically their eyes still worked perfectly. Lucien's words had entered and exited his mind and to the younger Owl, he nodded, acknowledging his pay of respect or whatever he called himself doing. Lowering the blue hood of the hoodie Cecilia made for him to his shoulders, he looked around and shuddered even as they passed more and more people.
To his side now was Lucien and behind him was Cecilia, the new Gravity Herald. In front of him was Che and Will and to his right was Roulin, the frustrated Life Owl. Anya wasn't far behind and neither was Nik. Kate was very close as well, but she seemed to be lost in thought just as Che was earlier. Moli, the lesser tactician when compared to Che, couldn't see this setup prevailing over the opposing forces of Exire, but his father could and so could Will. Even after a full day of arguing, they'd stuck with Che's plan and not his. His soldier tendencies brought him to going along with it all though. The blonde and the raven haired men knew what they were doing Moli hoped. Keeping silent as he walked, occasionally scratching his spiky hair, the Herald of Light awaited anything out of the ordinary to arise. It seemed as though nothing would as the exit to the airport was in sight now.
~~~

Roulin, like his suspicious brother, had began to take notice of the mannequin-like individuals spying on them with that creepy, unsettling tenacity. They were....like zombies in a sense. The only difference was that rather than chase them, they let their hunger pick at their already degraded brains and prod at their churning stomachs. Needless to say, Roulin wanted one of them to move. His leveled, calm, wisteria hued eyes begged them erupt from their cemented stance with the hopes of killing one of them fueling their hearts. The young man wanted to see just what Exire had to offer, but he was above throwing the mission to do so. As long as they remained still, he would remain steady.

When Lucien placed his hand on his shoulder, Roulin stopped and almost snapped around even though his sight allowed him to see that it was Lucien. It took a moment for Lucien to go on giving him the speech he'd expected him to give him long, long ago. A sigh...a roll of his eyes and the talk was over just as it began. With Roulin listening only to slivers of what Lucien had spoke. He did smirk when Lucien gave him the promise that if he lost to Raven, he'd come after him. This was the best sign that Roulin could give to show he still had a shred of that humanitarian half his old friend mentioned left in him. "Mmhm. I hear you Lu. I might as well promise you here and now that I'll be killing her the next time we meet then. You have my word on that. What I cannot promise you is that things will be the same. Hell man, do you think killing Raven will really stop all of this anyway? I'm only doing this because it'll bring us closer. Not because I believe it'll make our troubles go away." His innate ability allowed Roulin to understand completely where Lucien was coming from, but it didn't prevent him from walking off with the rest of the team.

What Roulin had hoped would never happen was taking place before him as he walked. Each moment that passed saw him becoming more and more intolerable of the relations between...everything. Owls and Humans, from what he'd been gathering all these years, couldn't co-exist peacefully and Exire might've been the best choice if it weren't for it being a superweapon. The other thing he'd picked up upon was that he was becoming something he didn't. The true essence of Life. Hard, rigorous, coarse and callous until the sweet and easy relief of Death. Lucien in his own ways had become that. The Owl of Grey would never admit it to his old friend and elemental opposite, but he was jealous of this conversion and that was a part of his current demeanor. Roulin stopped walking as the team got further and further away and looked back at Lucien with a gaze that would assure the Death Owl just where his mind was. When everyone else was far enough away, he said to Lucien in a lighter tone akin to the welcoming voice he spoke in years ago, "You know what? You're right about one thing Lucien. Cecilia does deserve better...so much better....I'm not better." Trailing off, he, gave one final shrug to the matter then briskly continued forward until he met with the group again.

~~~
Along the road, the Owl who now sat looking across a somewhat starry bay as the snowflakes fell had managed to garner many different titles due to his escapades for his kind. The Red Death, The Crimson Disease and by small children, The Melting Man. The latter brought a smile to his features. The red-eyed revolutionary sat back in the bench next to his partner in crime. The snow that would occasionally fall onto his back from the top of the bench was kept at bay both by his output of heat and his tattered, dark red trench coat. Although it was cold, the blonde rather enjoyed this weather and the scene it produced. Even if it was brought on by another Exirian Owl and not by natural occurrence, he still found it perfect.
"We're just miles away now," said Soliel to the girl next to him. "Miles away from success, power and a new home. Tell me. Does this prospect excite you? Owls finally having a place to call their own in this hellish, Human-manipulated wasteland? Once we raise Exire, we can begin to wipe them out you know. We'll do to them what they tried to do to us." The Magma Owl couldn't help but feel elated at this. This progress that allowed them this opportunity that they needed to clench for their own kind. He placed the cowl of the coat over his short, blonde hair and smiled beneath the shadow it cast. His glowing red eyes prevailed through the shadow of the cowl as well. Looking to his side, his eyes meeting with Lorna's, he grinned toothily at the thought of it all before asking the girl, "What did you want to become when you were a child? Would you laugh if I told you that I wanted to become a doctor and that I still intend to?"
The icy cold wind whipped the emerald hair of one Polaris Owl about her face. As she breathed in an out, the cold temperature caused her own breath to form in front of her. Covering her physique was a tight fitting long sleeve shirt and a pair of khaki jean pants with pockets on the legs with a pair of brown boots. Despite the little warmth her clothes provided, she wasn't cold at all. Of course, it could have been because the one and only Magma Owl was sitting next to her on a bench overlooking everything. The scene was breathtaking that it almost brought tears to the Metallic Owl's eyes.
Lorna's eyes fell upon her lover, his crimson eyes a great contrast to her own silver orbs. "This day...I've been waiting for it forever," she spoke in a silent voice, yet still loud enough so that he could hear her. Her eyes filled with emotion. "We will finally create our place in this world, a place that we have always deserved. A place above Humans, a place with our own kind. The Humans will suffer ten times worse than they have made us suffer. We will hear them begging for death. It will be sweet music to my ears." Her rosy lips curled into a smile as Soliel spoke of his dreams. "Well would you believe that it's always been my dream to become a Scientist?" she asked as her hand lightly touched his, holding it with what could be seen as a tender affection.
Soliel lifted one khaki covered leg over the other and patted down the dark shoes he wore freeing them of the snow that collected over time. Onward he stared across the bay, his spirit in awe at that majesty before him. Even among the war, there was still something beautiful to be found. The Magma Owl was gracious that he'd found it and that it'd been untouched by human hands or the frigid weather. His crimson eyes once more floated to Lorna. His lips still wore the smirk that only the Owl next to him could bring to him.
Lightly, the fighter chuckled after Lorna responded. The blonde thought that it was possible to do anything with the right education so neither his dream nor her's was out of reach. He nodded dismissively before saying to her, "I believe it fully. It's not impossible as long as you stick with it. If that isn't your intention, then you'll fail." His answer flowed outward, his morose wording adding an ultimatum-like appeal to the answer. He meant not to scare her though but rather to assure her of what she'd need to attain her goal. "I think you'll make it though. When everyone gets settled down after this, we can work towards our jobs together."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 02, 2012 2:17 am
Lorna tucked a few strands of her emerald tresses behind her right ear, her eyes moved away from Soliel towards the beautiful scenery. It was something unsoiled by the hands of man, something of pure nature with its own life. They would both live to see their dreams come true. Her silver eyes fell upon those of the young man sitting close to her. "I don't believe in something called failure. To me, such a thing is only inside our minds. As long as we work towards our goals thoroughly, we will succeed," she spoke with confidence.
She knew that failure was not acceptable. One needed to succeed to move on in such a world to achieve their dreams. Failure would only hold a person back and often times bring about a destruction in their dreams. "Yes, we'll work towards our dreams together," she said moving herself ever so closer to him until her face was merely inches from his. The scent of his warm breath enveloped her senses almost overwhelmingly as she pressed her lips against, her heart, body, and soul becoming warm from the passionate kiss.
Soliel nodded in agreement with the emerald haired girl next to him. She was right with her philosophy that failure only existed in the mind. It was a nice school of thought to revel in when thinking of perseverance. Their sitting here was a proof of such. The Magma Owl, thinking things over now, only hoped that each and every Owl and Exirian carried with them the same ideas and shared the same hope of attaining what was rightfully theirs to begin with. Soliel placed his foot down into the snow once more and in mere moments, the area around his muddy print became damp after the snow melted, then dry following his ability's influence on the area.
"Good. That's what I like to hear," Soliel said before resting his elbows on his knees. Before he could go on though, he was engaged in a kiss with Lorna that he held fondly for a good moment. It had been too long since he shared any kind of moment with her so the embrace of her lips was a welcome one. When they finally pulled away from each other, the red-eyed Owl stood and brushed off any droplets of water that melted upon him as he was sitting. Holding out a hand to the girl, he said to her, "We have to report to Raven soon though. I can't sense aura like you all can, so I'd like to know if our friends have arrived yet." It was a drawback to his ability, but it didn't matter. If he'd come this far without, then he knew he could go on infinitely just the same.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 02, 2012 3:37 am
Lorna's lips touched his affectionately. The setting was perfect with the bay acting as their background. While she did not want such a kiss to end, it had to. Pulling away from him, she took his hand and stood up, her lips still moist with the taste of him. Past events had prevented them from having a time together such as this. Perhaps it would be the first of many to come. "I suppose you're right. The real battle is about to begin. We don't want to let the others have all the fun now do we?" she asked, her lips curling into a well practiced smirk. The lids closed over her silver eyes as her shoulders relaxed.
Her breathing evened out slowly as she sought the auras of those that they would soon fight against. It was not too far away and it was at ground level, meaning that they had landed. Her eyes snapped open. "They're here. I can sense them. Even their little fledgling Heralds are with them. I think it's time for all baby Heralds to be tucked safely into their cribs...for eternity." There was a score she still had to settle with a certain Poison Owl. She was ready to do whatever it took to make sure that she came out on top.
((Will))
If everyone else thought that the "statues" were odd, Will apparently didn't seem to think so. Like Che, the Satan Owl pretty much ignored them. Unlike Che, the blonde elder wasn't one bit curious about the standing people. He could guess what had happened to the point that it was probably equivalent to knowing what happened. The chitter chatter and mumbling behind him didn't go unnoticed though. Those Italians... Che and his sons couldn't even make proper pasta. A disgrace to Italy. Then again, Che was the bum and not a cook. It went to say that his kids had genetic risks of becoming true bums too. Meanwhile, Daryle was being unnaturally quiet as he brought up the rear end of the group. The Breezy Flame, though younger than Nikolai and Anya, had immeasurably much more experience for these types of situation than either of the two.
"Alright kids. Enough with the chit chat. You really want to see how stoned these people are? Well, look alive." Without blinking, the Satan Owl swiftly grabbed Che's hand and molded it into a fist with the exception an index finger sticking out and then shoved the finger into the eye of one of the still standing zombie like people.
Internally, the lazy Owl was ecstatic, that the team of Owls were nearing the exit of the terminal without any problems. They hadn't encountered any problems yet so that meant that they were forever once doing something correctly in terms of tactics. From given from the lack of hostility in the area, Che could deem their arrival unnoticed. His contemplative scowl soon became a thankful and gracious smirk. Hadn't he been surrounded by others, he may have even twirled at the ease of the team's entrance into Exire. Unfortunately, what was all progress to Che was thrown away in mere seconds by the devil next to him.
Before the Mastering Owl could master the situation, his finger had already poked the eye of one of the people standing there just surveying them all. Che's first reaction to it was silence as he stared up at the stewardess who didn't even so much as blink. Following that was a stream of curses that flowed from the Italian who's face was now tinged an angered, intimidating pink. "You....simpleton...F***! Why'd you do that damn it!? Idiot! They're weren't going to move you re--" and then, just like that...the stewardess moved.
The woman who's eye had a finger in it now didn't blink although that's what Che had expected her to have done by now. The fact that she didn't only proved that she wasn't in her mind right now. The woman garbed in blue and white lifted her hand and pointed forward and not at anyone in particular. In fact, there was nothing between her finger and the wall across from her. Once again, the elder Owl fell silent, his curses stifled by his expectation. Seconds later, the woman was bellowing. Loudly. Incredibly loudly. Her cry couldn't have been her own voice though as it was deeper and louder than a human's voice. Che would describe it as a foghorn played an octave lower than normal. When the noise got to him, which it didn't take long at all to do, he yelled back at the woman, "Shut up, b***h!" Her voice, which was deeper than his own at this point, overpowered his and only those standing next to wouldn't be rendered to just lip reading.
The bushy haired Italian ducked as if she'd swung at him when her jaws opened wider to yell more, then began to run towards the exit. After the woman started, the other statues did and the terminal became filled with deep, almost deafening reverberations. Che and Moli knew at this point that they were all an alarm system and they'd activated thanks to their blonde friend. Still crying out in unison, the people of the terminal began to run after the team at a brisk pace. Killing them all dead by tearing them to pieces was all that went through their otherwise empty minds.
Lucien's head snapped around as the sudden sound of piercing screams and howling brutalized his ears. He grunted slightly as he saw that the people who had remained statuesque were in fact the alarm system set up by some psion. "Clever I'll give Raven that much." He said softly, though no one besides him could probably hear him over the screaming alarm. His eyes widened a little bit as the people suddenly flew into a frenzy and rushed forward to attack them. Lucien gripped his hand into a fist and steadied himself. He exhaled loudly as waves of psychic energy began to slowly drift from his body they resembled heat waves, unseen but still undeniably there. He shot one of his arms out releasing a psychic wave which lifted a group of people clean off their feet, they floated in the air as if in stasis trying to run towards them but going absolutely nowhere. He looked to the right seeing that more were coming in a frenzy. He readied his other hand just before a silver energy wave tore through their path causing the ones in front to fall over and into the crevice it now created. Lucien looked up towards the source Anderson.
Anderson walked slowly forward holding his trademark sword in his hand the blade still emanated a soft light from his previous attack. "They're using civilians as an alarm? Well that won't do." He said softly. As more came running frantically around the corner Anderson slashed his sword horizontally releasing another bolt of energy from the sword which collided with the people knocking them backwards. He was holding back to keep them alive they didn't ask to be turned into some kind of robotic human sensors he didn't know if they could be returned to normal or if they would even want to but it was better to give them the chance. He looked back towards the others, a more serious tone was expressed on his face, the usually happy upbeat Anderson seemed to have taken a back seat in spite of the area they were in and what was to be expected of them.
The shrill sounds of the human alarm systems resounded like the shrieks of a few hundred banshees, the sound threatening to burst the eardrums of one Gravity Herald. To use civilians in such a way...it was sickening. Cecilia didn't want to kill them. They couldn't help what they were now. They certainly didn't ask for such a job. The Cosmic Owl directed her stoic jade eyes towards a group that came running in her direction.
True, she could have crushed them easily by bring down a powerful force of gravity on top of them, but she chose not to. Instead, the pressure of gravity she forced onto them was only enough to bring them to the ground and restrain them, but not enough to be a fatality. With another light pressure of gravity, Cecilia targeted the pressure points on the upper parts of their necks close to their ears and pressed hard enough to force them into unconsciousness. The shrill banshee-like sounds began decreasing because of this act. True the act she had performed was simple, but it seemed to get the job done just fine as she was not looking to truly bring harm to innocent civilians who had no free will at the moment.
As the plane landed, Vincent got what he needed and headed out of the plane with everyone else. The natural red head walked silently as they were now in the terminal. This place was definitely weird...Vincent studied the stoic faces, it seemed to be like something out of a Stephen King movie...definitely not something he'd want to stay around. Everything was calm until Will grabbed Che's hand and poked one of them in the eye. Facepalming Vincent awaited for trouble to come out of this.
For a second, he didn't think anything would happen, they were completely still. Then one moved and opened her mouth...and an eerie sound was released. Tensing up, Vincent was annoyed by the sound it was loud...what were these women? Then more and more came out as well and began to scream. It was an alarm system. He began to freeze a few at time in their places but then more and more people came out and began to attack. As the crazed civilians began to attack Vincent got on the offensive...since they were fighting in a war there was no reason at all to take prisoners. Utilizing his hands a few here and a few there began to explode, leaving nothing but filthy carnage.
Amara's consciousness was now split...her mother being much stronger than her was able to do this...the only way to completely control Amara's power for herself. As they sat at a "post", Evelynn was running through Amara's mind and after a while managed to take full control. Amara then projected a psychic projection of herself as a young girl who wanted nothing more than to obey her mommy. Amara sat there a lifeless shell under the control of another's will.
Finding the nearest liquor cabinet, Aeon grabbed a bottle of scotch and a glass. Pouring the brown liquid into the glass, she added no ice, just decided that she would take it back with no ice and straight. As she finished pouring the alcoholic drink she tightly put the cap back on, and drank the scotch straight. The liquid burning down her esophagus, the projector then let out a belch. Grabbing the bottle again, she repeated this process three more times, she took a seat in a chair as she exhaled deeply. "Come with me Aeon...you're an Owl.." she muttered. "Thos ******** words ruined my life...I ******** swear" she said to herself. "Parents...what a joke....a freaking joke" she scoffed and closed her eyes halfway.
((TFP---Raven))
The cold air whipped Raven’s hair around her face as she trudged forwards. She wasn’t moving away too far from where she and Timothy had once stood. Her phone buzzed to life inside her coat pocket and she knew almost instantly what the message would be. Roulin & Co had landed and was now walking carelessly through the airport. Each step they would take towards the exit was being watched by the soulless eyes of Exires very own unique security squad. The French woman flipped her phone open only to confirm what she already knew. With a smirk she tucked her phone back away and turned to face the direction of the airport. “It is only a warm up for all of you. I do hope you all have fun killing those poor humans…”
She knew that the ‘puppets’ were relentless when they attacked. Their movements may be somewhat sluggish and lacked precision…but there was such a thing as power in numbers. That was another reason why it had been decided to keep so many people alive and in the airport; not just for ‘360 vision’ but for this moment as well. With a soft laugh the blonde female pulled her hair up into a ponytail to save her the annoyance of having her face whipped constantly by the silky strands of gold. She pulled her attention away from the airport that lay just out of sight and continued on her way.
((Daryle Saxton))
The airport was silent, eerily so. Daryle strolled behind the others, bringing up the rear of the group. His pale green eyes remained on the floor as his mind continued to lay elsewhere, lost in the sea of thoughts that continued to plague his mind. He only looked up when he heard Che shout at someone for doing something that they shouldn’t have. It was probably no surprise to Daryle that the one being scolded was Will. He was probably as bored as Daryle was currently. Well, not too bored…because that would be disastrous for everyone. And then came to screaming.
For a rather petite, business like woman, her voice sure as hell didn’t suit her at all. It was actually rather manly…and had this kind of inhuman edge to it. In fact, Daryle was pretty certain in her normal state of mind she could never produce such a sound. One thing was confirmed and that was the sound she was making was extremely annoying. “Shut her up alre----“ and then the others began joining in like they were a group of bass singers and gotten drunk before a performance. The sound was enough to startle anyone who had not been expecting it. This included Daryle. The blonde male narrowed his eyes as the once still life scene was shattered and its subjects began to move.
Soon enough a fight had broken out and the Owls were now forced to defend in order to gain safe passage through the airport. At first Daryle figured that they needn’t harm the people attacking them for it was not their fault, they were under someone’s control. But somewhere in the sea of flailing bodies, people began to explode. Apparently not everyone was feeling the same way. Daryle narrowed his eyes and shook his head. Spinning around, he launched an elbow into the stomach of an elderly man who had sort to attack Daryle from behind. Quickly, the blonde male grabbed the old man and aimed for the occipital ridge, one of the more ‘kinder’ ways to knock a person out.
“Heh…And here I was falling asleep on my feet…” Not even 5 seconds had passed between the old man’s attack and Daryle was already being approached by various other people. There was no need to get serious. Sticking with hand to hand combat would be more than enough for now. With a smirk, Daryle proceeded to fend of the mad frenzy that continued their onslaught like mindless zombies....Ah, zombies…. “Ehe…hehehe….Lets not think about that for now, hm?”
Zombies again? Zombies again. Nikolai had gotten done with his mental conversation with Sydney just in time to hear an earsplitting screech and who was at the center of it, but the Satan owl and Che. Rolling his eyes and putting his headphones up, Nik turned on some music and muttered, "Why am I not surprised?" The music was to deflect the screech, to help him concentrate on the task at hand; the zombies chasing them. Of course they were still alive, they were essentially brainwashed hostages, and killing them just didn't sit right with Nik. Of course, it was late evening, in the winter; it was dark out, and the airport terminal was lit by fluorescent lights and not much else. A plan quickly formed in his head as he saw the growing mass of zombie civilians (Zombilians? Civvies?) behind them. If they didn't want to hurt them, all they had to do was block them off.
Nik threw a few balls of shadow at the lights above them, breaking them and slowly but surely throwing the airport behind them into darkness. He used the darkness to create a wall of shadow, one that would be about as solid as brick, in between the group and the zombies. Nik made triple sure he wasn't blocking anyone in, their attackers were out for blood today. As the group continued further through the airport, he knocked out more lights and made new walls, eliminating the ones he created before in sequence, making sure the majority of the brainwashed humans were stuck behind a wall. He left it up to the others to deal with the more immediate ones, pausing in his light breaking only to directly defend himself when necessary. "You know, maybe we should give them Will, as like a peace offering. No one will miss him I don't think." Nik said aloud to anyone who cared to listen.
