paladin programming update:
got the affinity thing working and testing it out now, but I realized the point range is ridiculously small for a game with attribute ranges in the hundreds. The point range appears to be -12 to +18 realistically, and -24 to +36 as a theoretical upper limit, with 0 being a neutral reaction.
That's because one 'neutral' affinity automatically negates it's mate regardless of what the other value was. This seems incorrect to me - as people who strongly represent ideas often attract people's interest in these ideas even if those people have no experience with it.
this could either lead to a powder keg effect (if you barely dislike them, all the things they like that you were neutral on become hates, and vice versa for things they hate),
or could be resolved using the magnetic effect/cult of personality - if you are negative to stuff they are neutral on, it counts against you, if you are positive on stuff they are neutral on, it counts for you...

I don't really know what tools your working with.
And I don't know s**t about programming to begin with.
However...
a sort of patch over the problem solution might be a if statement.
If Alignment A x Alignment B=0, Then +1 or some such.
