It just had to come to that. Sid's lips pulled into a tighter, more strained smile, but if nothing else his sunglasses hid the look in his eyes. He leaned forward to shake the offered slimy hand, and it was all he could do not to immediately wipe his own off on his jeans.

"Pleasure to make your acquaintance and all that."

"Ah... y-yuh-you as well... Muh-mister Suh-sid..." Newt wiped his mouth on his sleeve, "I... ah... I'm n-nuh-not... exactly... er... on duh-duty b-but... ah... if... if y-you... had anything you... you nuh-needed help with...?" Old habbits died hard, especially when he was still donning his dirtied uniform.

"Just Sid. Please."

Newt's offer, once it was out, made Sid take a closer look at what the frog man was wearing. From there he looked at the cart, then back, and it clicked. "You mean, like, cleaning?" He asked, one brow arched over his sunglasses.

"Ah... I... er..." Newt swallowed. His head dipped down in an embarassed fashion, enormous eyes flickering to the side, "I... I've s-sor-sort of... f-fal-fallen out of the jan-jan-janitorial business," He began carefully. Yeah, that sounded good. He cleared his throat, straightening a bit in an attempt to look a bit more impressive. "But I... I wuh-was also main-maintenence- if you nuh-need anything... er... buh-built or... um... w-well, I muh-make good bug truh-traps, but that's a start, right?" He seemed desperate for the second opinion, clutching the collender to his skinny chest.

"Sure it is," he said with a nod. He didn't ask what the traps were for, the answer was right in front of him. His head was still aching, his free hand felt clammy from the handshake, but he'd worked through worse situations... if not so surreal. Sid blinked and shook his head to get his train of thought back on track. Be polite, right.

"You know anything about typewriters? Sorta old- ah, I mean classic ones? I'm not saying it's broken yet- it's not- but you never know."

At the mention of antiques, the frog-man flinched and leaned forward with an excited croak, his eyes widening even more, if it had even been possible, "Wuh-wuh-what sort? Wuh-what year? Cuh-cuh-can I see it? Duh-does it st-still wuh-work? Where did you get it?"

Newt's sudden burst of enthusiasm- and croak, made him take a step back. "Uh... Smith Corona. I don't know what year. I've had it for, like, ever. Can't even remember where I got it." He scratched behind his ear with his free hand before he remembered. He was overdue for a shower anyway, so he tried not to let it bother him more than it already had.

"It works, but it's had a few episodes in the past. So, yeah, with no repair shops around here... Well, come to think of it, even if I was home I probably woulda been s**t outta luck if it broke again. The guy knew who fixed 'em croa-- he passed on."

The frog-man gave a thoughtfull nod, eyes distant as he thought it over, "Th'the labs cuh-can probably find spuh-spare parts if need be... I c-could fix it, no pro... no pruh-pruh-problem!" If he also got a book on typewriters- but how hard could it be? It was interesting, at least, more interesting than sweeping day in and day out. He liked machines- they were like a series of puzzles that he enjoyed solving. The people in question didn't need to know the limits of his own abilities, afterall. And he had always wondered how a typewriter looked inside...

"Well, next it breaks you'll be the first to know. Or second, realistically, because I suppose I'd know it... That's really an odd turn of phrase, don't you think?" He glanced back to his waiting coffee, but it was probably a loss by now. "How do I contact you, anyway?"

He vaguely recalled something about the intercoms involved, but like every other previous conversation the details were already hazy.

"Wuh-well... I... have a bull... a bull... a b-b-b-bu-bulletin board on my door... er... fuh-fuh-ff-fffifty two." He watched Sid excitedly, as though waiting for him to inquire about any other exciting devices.

"Fifty-two. Got it." Sid patted his pockets, but thus far the only things he carried on him all times were his cigarettes and lighter. He was gonna have to stop kidding himself and bring along a notepad at the rate he was going. There was just too damn much to try and remember.

Newt's eager look made him feel he had to offer up some kind of more immediate project. Try as he might, he came up blank. "I can't really think of anything else right now." He was lucky he was functioning at all.

Newt nodded, pulling back as though embarassed by his own enthusiasm, hopping back towards his cart in a couple froggish leaps, "Wuh-well... if... ah... y-you... th-think of... of anything you know how to con-con-contact me..."

"Will do," he said. "See ya around, man."

He really shouldn't have forgotten his name that quickly, but he blamed the hangover. Coffee would fix that, even if it gave him a new problem with his stomach. He took a step back, and almost walked away before it struck him that he ought to at least say something nice or encouraging or something to make up for the fact he'd given up on helping.

"It was nice talkin' with you." He surprised himself, as it turned out in a weird way it was... but his hand, and his hair... His smile stayed in place despite the thought. Coffee first, maybe food, then shower.

Newt's head dipped down self conciously as he pushed his cart forward towards the other door, "I... ah... h-hope to ... to see you again soon!" The croaked, he hopped off with his load of random stollen goods.

"You too," he called back. Once Newt had left Sid thought about just taking a few things back to his duplex, but then he remembered the cane... and the stairs. He could at least take things outside. And once he did, he ammended that by taking things out to a place in the shade.
