"Hey, look! Just like I thought!"

Certain key points in the walls to either side of the runes shifted and pushed outward, forming a series of handholds and footrests, roughly at the same height and width apart. They were about four inches out from the wall when they stopped abruptly. Apparently, that was all they were going to get.

Now all they had to do was use the hand and footholds to get across the fifteen foot runic trap in the floor. One slip could cost them...

"Okay, let's move."

She certainly sounded sure of herself as she walked towards the impromptu "bridge" across.

The thing was amazing. One moment one place, One moment the next. The creature, during the study of the trap, passed into view as the way acrossed was revealed. Stone box under arm, Hood drawn tight, mask likewise. He just watches, eyes appraising of the group.

Ruuvan

Ruuvan moved up to rejoin the other two as the stepping stones came out from the wall, showing them the way across the deadly trap and over to the other side. Four inches wasn't a lot of space, but his Elven blood and agility would help him get across easier than Claire, so that left little D to think about.
"Can ya get across on your own, D, or dya want a ride across?" Ruu was of course hinting at a piggy-back ride across the trap, moving his bow to the side in order to make some space for the child. Regardless of whether he climbed on or not, Ruu started on the first step and followed quickly behind Claire, making sure she wasn't taking any wrong steps that might make her fall to her death.

Something exploded within Sun as the creatures head came into view. He had to struggle to maintain a grip on himself as the voice boomed in his mind. So even though his face was still human, barely, it was a clawed, black hand that slipped around Vahn's upper bicept, the other arm holding Tellus comfortably in place.

"Antharas?!" He whispered to the other man in a bit of a panic. "Isn't he...I mean...weren't you supposed to have... He collected himself, shaking.

"Vahn...why is the demon god of lizards stuck in the floor and not dead?"

The thing's mask twitched with the vestiges of a smile. "Step wisely, for these paths have not been taken well with time. Even the lightest overweight can bring you to fall." His voice carried casually, though the echo brought it to feel ominous. His stomach still had that tear from the damnable blade. Running a finger over this, tip glowing black, he sealed it in silence. Lightly replacing his hands back within his sleeves, he checked his reserves.... Hmph.

Piggyback!!

: biggrin shouted out in responce to Ruuvan's offer, and after a slight kick off the safer portion of the wall he snugly grabbed Ruuvan around the neck with his feet gripping on the elven warriors belt. It was a pretty solid grip, if this was a fight the pose be seen as similar to sort of extremely weak Headlock.

But for now, D was enjoying the piggy back ride. He even giggled, it was fun! Sure, he might have been able to run across the careful path all by himself, but where was the fun in that?::

So then, both were now carrying weights on their backs- one carried her pack, the other carried a boy. The going was thus much slower than usual. They had to be careful; whoever was at the end of the hallway was right. This was probably all the weight that the weathered stones could handle- any more and they would crumble.

So they proceeded to cross, one set of stones at a time. She didn't even talk to... whatever was there, waiting for them, to ask who or what it was, or how it had gotten inside, past the trap.

Questions would come later- work came now.

((*slips in behind Sunny in post order*))

"ugh..." Tellus' voice mumbled somtething slightly incoherent as she slumbered against Sunny's back. "...So warm..." snuggling closer into the lizard's back, sounding much like an exhausted child.

"Just remember Lover, I can wake her if need be, but I'd rather not kill her just yet. We might have need of her in this."The voice where only Sunstrike could hear her, that of Tijae. "If I do, it will be damaging to her body. I can feel what's wrong with her. Something has happened. But I will use her to keep you safe.

Ruuvan

Ruuvan didn't mind the weight, what with normally carrying a duffel bag full of heavy metal weapons and the like, so having D there was a pleasant change from his normal luggage. He had noticed something earlier, though just out of the corner of his eye so he shrugged it off, but now the thing seemed to have a voice and was warning them of what they were doing. If there was one thing Ruu couldn't stand, it was being warned of the obvious by some dark and mysterious figure hiding in the shadows; why couldn't they just come out and make themselves known instead of p***y-footing around? It was lost to Ruuvan.

A few more minutes of tedious stepping brought the trio safely down on the other side, Ruu sliding D off his back and onto the ground carefully. Turning to look back and the space they had covered, he could only hope this Guardian would teleport them out once he was done, just like the previous one.
"Right, let's keep moving. Whatever's talking to us might not be friendly - if he comes out, that is." Ruu had no doubt the being could hear him, so it was a subtle enough message to get it to come out, but he'd be ready to strike if it became hostile. Other than that, it was up to little D to lead on with the compass.

: razz lop!

D's boots slapped against the flat rune-less floor. He did a little hop, just to test the ground and then turned around to wave at the shadowy figure. Figure in the shadows. Shadows....it was safe to say that while hiding in the dark, the figure wasnt hidden from D. He shouted while waving::

Bye bye Mistewr Darky Dark!

::And he was off. Again the ruby was his compass, only this time he was a little more attentive. It went without saying that the shadows wouldnt hide any creatures or runes from him, and with his soul sight he'd see the glowing aura of anything in the area with a soul. But he took it a step further, he would stop at every rune no matter how big, or how small, or how decorative, and he would point. And then turn to Claire and say.::

What do's dat say?

::He even mistook some cracks as runes and asked about them. He was a curious boy! Progression down the hall might have been alot slower, but at least they were progressing!::

And it was good that progression down the hall was a bit slower.

They would have heard something heading towards them. Not exactly following, but heading towards them none the less. Still, it was of little importance as they soon came upon another trap. Definitely not like the last one- the runes decorated the walls to either side of them now. Claire sighed- this was getting frustrating.

But she knew this one.

It was the old trick of the walls caving them on them, sliding towards them, or something else. The markings on the wall were too obvious... but just to be sure, she threw another flare- her second of three.

Nothing...

She quirked an eyebrow. What the hell?

She tried to speak what the runes on the walls said.

"Beware the path before you- hidden dangers lie in the earth below. Be sure of footing and yet be swift of movement, for the cost of sloth is thy life. Only the cunning and bold may advance further."

She waited a few minutes, pondering. What the riddle meant was that the trap was not evident... not yet, anyway. Not to mention that no signs of something being triggered or disabled were shown as she looked around.

"Looks like the only way to go is forward..."

"Uhh, okay then." Brass said blankly as he strung his bow over his back and turned around to follow the man, hopefully out of this God forsaken heat and into the cool of the cave that they were suppose to go. Brass knew he couldn't entirely trust this man and was bacially putting his life into his hands. But, what other choice did he have? It was either follow this man out of here, putting all faith and trust into him or trying to stick it alone. The worst of the two choice.

This walk was just as short as Halycanos discribed, a mere hours walk. Three miles of blistering heat, but only an hour. Besides, thet didn't seem to be short enough on supplies they might die or anything. And if they were, Halycanos would eat Brass with no regret.

An hour did pass, and the adventurers had entered a sand storm. All that appeared to be at the designated spot was a marker that read [DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES]. Comforting. But as usual in Gaia, nothing is as it appears as Halycanos moves in close to a particularly large dune, placing his hand to it. With a short blast of fire, a quake began. This quake kept up right as a huge, glass door rose from the sands, opening up Halycanos' Sanctum.

The inside was a stair case that lead to massive glass cave, and because of being so many stories below ground, it was quite nippy inside. It was, however, a great reverse to the oven of Barthavos. Walking in, one will notice it is not the classic odd mideval style cave, but it is actually rather roomy, a couch and a large TV running on electromana stones, picking up a signal through a metal pole that travels right through the roof. Off to the left of the enterance is what appears to be a kitchen type area, and the right holds a bedroom and a bathroom. This place must have cost a fortune.

"Get you a Dr. Pepper?"

The thing followed them, quietly, and with hands still in sleeves, like some monk. He neither closed the distance nor swelled it, only coming up next to Claire as she threw the flare, watching it. "Those should be saved." Came velvet voice, followed by a flick of white fingertips, issuing forth ribbons of cloth to collect the stick. It was assumed that it wouldn't be lit. "It requires movement. Weight. More than a stick...." He was quiet, though that blue stone of an eye hinted that he was scowling thoughtfully.

Ruuvan

Indeed the only way was forward, even though Ruuvan was growing tired of these riddles and tests, but he still had enough left in him to face the Guardian and claim another soul for Evan, so he sighed slightly and rolled his shoulders as Claire finished talking.
"Yep, forward it is, but as quickly as possible. I don't want to end up dying this close to the end." It couldn't have been that much further, going on the previous dungeon anyway, so Ruuvan was quite sure he would soon have to draw swords against the Valkyre of fire.

Making sure the other two were set, Ruuvan took the lead and started off down the path. He once again relied on his eyes and Elven agility to get him through this, especially if the floor gave way at times or something worse happened, but he was confident in his skills and speed should anything bad happen. Ruu was also confident in Claire and D getting through safely, what with being able to see what happened to him before it happened to them, they had time to prepare.
