Kibo: I have several memories of you from the other Kibos. You were never happy in any of them.

Storm drew on the anger then.
"So you have been following me around, yes? For how long? Obviously not long enough to see me with Joseph, and Nivia, and Columine!"
She felt close to tears.
"I loved them. They were my world, my bloody life."

Kibo: And if they saw you today, do you think they'd like what you've turned into?

Storm closed her eyes.
"I...I don't know."
She sounded uncertain.
"But, if I am enjoying my life, now, what does that mean, about then?"

Kibo: How do you know that you're truly enjoying life? How do you know that you're not thinking about it too logically? You're completely free now. There's no one to hold you back or tell you no. How do you know your brain hasn't tricked you into thinking that ultimate freedom is ultimate happiness? because let me tell you. Losing a bit of freedom in exchange for true love is a steal. Take the love every time.

Storm bit her lower lip.
"Everything has logic, an equation to make it right. What would make love so different? Why shoudn't freedom make you happy?"

Kibo: Because love is in a completely different field than any other emotion. Love is the only emotion that can cause extreme happiness and crushing depression simultaneously. And true love is even greater than that. It flushes all sadness; all emptiness and solitude; all negativity from your life. No matter what happens, you'll know that as long as you have this one person, and they have you, everything will turn out alright in the end. There is no equation. There is only love, and when you're with that person, you're freer than any solitude could give.

Storm hugged herself protectivly. She was refusing to met Kibo's eyes, knowing he was right, knowing she'd had it all, and had killed it.
"But that's impossible. There is no exception to the rules; the so called exceptions merely belong to another set of them. You can't change what happnes by merely wishing it to end up all okay. You can't be free, can't be empty of harm by being chained to another."
The drow prefered her pretty delusions to the painful truths.

Kibo stepped forward, hugging her comfortingly.
Kibo: It's alright, Storm, it's alright. You'll be fine. You have quite a long time to find someone new. And who knows? Maybe he'll make you feel happier, more complete, more loved than all of those three combined.

Incongrousily, an old wean nurse's story came to her: If you give a larik a raw piece of meat...If you give a disparing drow a weapon...Storm felt like crying, laughing and returning Kibo's hug, anyone just to know she wasn't alone at once.
She stepped back from Kibo, glaring at him.
"Don't. You. Ever. Say. Those. Words. Again. Or I will make certain you have no after life, and no prospect of a future, marks aside."

He began to walk away, smiling gently.

Storm spoke a word of power as Kibo turned. It spun him around, so that he once more face the drow. Or rather, her fist as she punched him. Storm ignored the slight sting in her slipt knuckles.
"It wouldn't have felt right hitting you with your back turned. Don't presume to do that again."

Kibo: Tsk tsk tsk, Storm. I can see emotions, remember? You have a distinct aura of calmness, and... hmm, that's the word for it? Umm... warm fuzziness?

"I didn't say it didn't help."
Kibo probably would never know just how hard it was for Storm to say that.
"I just said don't do it again."
A vauge feeling of childishness come over her then.

Kibo: I promise I'll never say that again. But that by no means makes it untrue.
