“That’s not what I was asking….” He snapped, a bit of his bratty tone coming back into his voice, “And I’d thank you not to poke your beak where it doesn’t belong.” He hated it when others mouthed off to him… even when they were right. Cocky was he then? Perhaps he was doing the pride a favor disposing of himself. He’d do both himself and them good. They wouldn’t have to feed a mouth that wouldn’t feed back and he’d find somewhere else to live. Of course he felt he could always come back if things didn’t work out. Sure his father would be cross but he could always come up with the excuse that he was out trying to hunt. It was a good enough lie to fly- he wasn’t the best hunter the world had seen and the game was scarce so he could be gone for a long time and not have anything. Even better if he were to return with a kill- they’d probably forgive him and think twice about ignoring him so.
“Answer my question so we both may be along on our way….”

Kinja arose from her slumber and stretched her body out. She glanced down at her little ones who were all still sleeping peacefully, but as she gazed at the group of cubs she noticed something looked odd. With a quick count of heads she realized one was missing, Kijinga. She stood up, making sure not to arouse the others. Kiu wasn't far from the den so she felt sure the cubs would be fine without her for a short while.
The red pelted lioness darted from the den in search of her lost daughter. Her nose took in all the scents around her and her tiny daughters was one of the many things that filled her sensitive sense of smell. She took off in the direction the scent was coming from in hopes of finding her little one. The sand wasn't as compact out in the desert as it was near the pride den, the sand out here had very little lion passage over it. Kinja just hoped her little one was alright and hadn't hurt herself on her little adventure.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity to her a tiny speck formed on the horizon. Picking up speed Kinja ran as fast as she could to the speck which quikly took form of a tiny, red lioness. Kinja slowed her pace, a growl escaping her throat as she walked up behind her little one. "WHAT were you thinking wandering away like that!?" She was completely livid with her cub. Not only had she put herself in danger and given her mother a near heartattack, but she also put her siblings in danger because she, Kinja, had to leave them to find her little explorer.

kijinga sniffed the air and smelt her mother, as kinja grew closer, kijinga felt more and more frightened. like she knew her mother would yell at her. she quickly spun around and lowered her body, her ears flattened as her tail curled under her. "I-i'm sorry mom....i was just so bored...and there was nothing to do! my brothers and sisters were resting! i did'nt want to awaken them" she let that out with a yelp as she crouched lower to the ground.

Kinja looked at her cub sternly. "You should have woke me up and I could have taken you to your father if you were that bored." She didn't regret yelling at her daughter, but the look that the red hued cub was giving her was making her soften a bit. "Let's go back to the den. I don't want your brothers and sisters waking up to find me gone. You will be confined to the den for a day for wandering off like you did. Do you realize how scared I was when I noticed you were gone?"

Kinja watched her daughter for a few more moments before picking Kijinga up by the scruff of her neck and headed off back to the thicket.
As Kinja walked she began thining of her little ones and realized that soon she would have to take them back to the pride to be introduced to everyone else. She didn't think any of the lionesses would do anything but Makadari just didn't make her feel safe about the whole process. She shuddered when she thought about the time when the cubs were just recently born and she could smell Makadari not far away. That had scared her tremedously.
After a long but relaxing walk back to the thicket Kinja placed Kijinga down.
Kimeti had awoken while his mother was gone but didn't worry. He yawned and stretchedhis tiny body before leaping to the entrance of the thicket to see if his mother was outside. Not seeing her he assumed that she went hunting. His father wasn't anywhere in sight other. After stretching his body once again he walked back over to his brother and sisters and layed down by them as if he were their protector while their mother was away.
When Kinja entered the thicket and placed Kijinga down she smiled at the way her son was positioned. She shook her head before nudging Kijinga towards the group of youngsters. "Thank you for watching over them Kimeti." She smiled at her 2nd born son.
Kimeti looked very proud before he got up from his spot so his mother could resume laying her her spot. "It was no trouble mother, but where did you go?"
"I had to retrieve your sister but everything's fine now." She walked over to the area that Kimeti had left and layed down again beside her little ones, curling her tail around the encase them.
Kimeti looked over at Kijinga. "You left the thicket?" He looked at her in wonder while the wheels in his small head began to turn with ideas.
[EDIT: Thanks Moo for pointing out my little mistake. I forgot to put son after it]

Matakas small dial rested upon the sand, her occuli flickering to the lions as she heard them speak. She meant of nothing to them, perhaps she was like a mere fly. Her tongue still hung out of her mouth, tips of her ivories showing. He respect for lions may have increased, as she sees the power they have and the respect other people feel for them. She wondered what she had done wrong. And at the same time she wondered about her siblings, her thoughts proceeded to her mother and father. Had they abondoned her? She had often heard stories, but her high and mighty attitude told her never to take it seriously.
She was a few paces behind the lions, and as she was still wary, she stayed where she was, paws half embedded in the sand. She wanted to talk to get answers. To find water...But her tongue seemed un-usable. Her ears perked in hope to catch a snippet of conversation that would lead her home. But she tried in vain. They were talking of their far cousins, as the vultures were once described by a lioness. Matakas eye let a single tear fall. But then she shook her dial. She wouldnt give up. Not yet. Her sweet accent low she ambulate closer to the creatures, her tail and ears low as she spoke in a wispy voice. "Excuse me? Could you help me?" She asked, eyes widened in supressed fear.

((Kimeti wasn't the second born... o_o; He was the fourth, wasn't he?))
Kwana awoke just as her mother returned, yawning and stretching out before climbing to her feet. "Hallo mother," she chirped, ears perking towards Kimeti moments later. She rolled her eyes, muttering 'suck up' under her breath before slinking around to Kijinga's other side. She flahshed her sister a grin, tail swaying thoughtfully. ""Good job. Gave Kimeti an excuse to act the protector..."

He turned from the birds with a huff, hearing the plea for help. His nose wrinkled slightly at the request and the pathetic tone in her voice. He stood for a while, pondering whether or not he should even bother. If she couldn’t get back on her own it was almost not worth it - at least in the eyes of the pride. Then again, if he were in the same position would he call for help? This trip across the desert might take quite the toll on his body. However, he had heard of his sister traveling from the pride and she was among the few lions in the pride he could stand. She was like him - spoiled and snotty but perhaps she was also like him in thinking- perhaps she wanted something more as well and had journeyed far away. What if she needed his help? Or perhaps she had found what he wanted to seek in the first place. Perhaps finding her was his first objective… she would know if anything were out there.
Of course that would mean helping someone…, he reminded himself, shaking his head slightly to return to reality and leave his thoughts for later, Question is- are you willing to offer it?
He answered himself by walking towards the voice. The bird was probably only going to mock him for this as well. That damn heap of feathers sure gave a lot of lip for a bird and seemed to know him. After a short walk he stood before the exhausted lioness, looking down on her with a raised brow, his proud tail swishing behind him and his form standing just as regal as he had been expected to- chest out, head raised and tilted only slightly to look down, his paws spread apart and his tail high from the ground.
“What is a lowly lioness asking of her prince might I ask? Stand yourself up…” his tone was his usual one, casual for royalty but too regal for common.

Daimyn ((Doomi: Maka's actually already charged at Taka, heh. I'm waiting for Exalla to reply... o.o <3)) [; ; Sorry guys! I've been sick *pouts*]
Taka quickly caught Jasi by the scruff of her neck and dragged her back behind her, mumbling something like 'run' before she turned back toward the lion, head low and claws flexing, her shoulders quivering under her taut golden pelt as she least to the side of the oncoming claws, hoping to draw his attention from her 'pride'. He ahd the advantage over her in strength but she could probably match that in speed. Sure he wasn't going to go down easily, so she had no choice but to fight until the cubs and fox were safely out of the way, hopefully they would be able to find somewhere to conceal themselves from the brute lion. Hissing a question, the cheetah's two tone eyes darkened warily, now waiting for him to lunge or take the first attack, her tone of voice blistering with hate as she circled him a few feet away.
"What do you want, lion?"
There was no way she was going to lose these cubs, not again.
Teule, after being pushed in a bit roughly from hsi mother, now saw the reason why. The lion was dangerous. He'd never seen his mom like that before, not even when she was hunting. She seemed angry and hateful, something at which Teule had never heard before. Taka had not yet spilled the truth of her previous offspring and their unfortunate deaths. Catching his mother's short warning he turned to Yakuti, ears laying against his head in rage at the new lion's attack while his tail crinkled up under his hind legs in fear for his mother.
"I think my mom wants us to run. If we get to somewhere safe then she won't have to fight..I-I don't think she can win with that lions strength.."

Jasi rubbed her head against Taka's paw before she was pushed into the den. She knew what was about to happen, and she secretly wanted to go help Taka, but she knew she was to weak to fight a grown lion. She turned to Tuele, who must have felt the same way she did. She heard what he said, and she could feel a hint of worry in his voice, and nuzzled into him, trying to comfort him. "Teule, ill go see if theres another place to hide ok?Stay here where its safe, and ill come get you. Ill be quick." She headed towards the exit, and seeing that the two fighting were pre-occupied, she pulled herself out and started to run. She could see a thicket not so far off, so she decied to check it out before she told the others.
