terachi+KAIshaku Merciless Darkness terachi+KAIshaku Nah, spacers are the worst of all. I won't say braces won't hurt, but it's never quite so bad and it doesn't last as long.
Don't be afraid to use the painkillers, and chewing sugarfree gum helps with the pain as long as you're sure to brush well when you spit it out. (this is advice my orthodontist gave me; you should be fine as long as it's sugarfree) Getting braces wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be. I still have to go back and get the bottom one put on though. I think the best part about it was picking out the colors. Mine are like black and a metalic dark green. X3 Awesome! I always liked dark colours on my braces, so I looked like a vampire in all of my pictures. ^_^ My parents want me to get braces... but then playing my instrument would be even more of a chore than it is..

He's got the patience for it though, I want to learn the bass guitar myself
