"Oh, erm, these? N-no, groceries, and a book." He said, not without embarassment. He called them groceries, but his bags were really full of nothing but peanut butter. He hoped she would not look though, as to avoid any questions about diet. Truth is, Jericho didn't even eat peanut butter.

The book was real though!

"I've just moved here." He explained while pulling the bags in a comfier position in his arms. "I was taking a look, and getting my first groceries."

"Oh. I'm not exactly a local, either," she admitted. "I... don't really know where I'm going."

She went to stuff her hands in her pockets, but remembered her injury and just let them hang awkwardly at her sides. Her cloak hid most of the motion, but she frowned a little.

"What's the book about?"

"Oh, it's ... erm ..." As the book was sitting at the top of a bag, he could somewhat see the cover. Twisting his head to look at it, he grimace, and read: "Understanding Humanity. It's by a lizardfolk philosopher. I heard it was fascinating." Indeed, simply thinking about the secrets such a book could reveal excited him to no end, and it's with a big smile that he opened the door to the tourist info office, to let his injured companion through. "I think the bathrooms are at the back there. I need to clean my hands too."

"Sounds... fascinating," Merdice said as she stepped through the door. She strode toward the rear of the little place, looking for the appropriate signs and going through the appropriate doors.

Once in the bathroom, she rolled up her sleeves and went to the sink. Turning the knob for the hot all the way on, she stuck her hands under the steaming water for a moment before getting a handful of soap and scrubbing vigorously to get the remnants of dirt out. It stung and bit and she made unhappy faces at the sink. When she was satisfied, she stuck her hands under the steaming water again, wincing more.

Merdice scrabbled at the knob and shook her hands dry. A moment later, she pushed through the door, looking around for Jericho.

Jericho was already out of the restroom by then, having only a smear of blood to clean up. While Merdice was still in, he had started talking to the booth clerk, asking about the area, the people and, most important, a band-aid or two. When the door to the bathroom made a noise, he turned and waved at the woman, free of the bags he left next to the entrance, and motioned her over.

"These guys have band-aids if you need. Oh, and they have a listing of cheap healers too, but I don't think you need that?"

"I'm fine now, really," she said, smiling a little. Her hands were stuffed into her pockets at this point, to avoid further inspection. They'd stopped bleeding and were just weeping small drops of clear fluid at a slow rate. Bruises were starting to show up, but it was nothing that wouldn't heal.

"Thank you."

The smile crinkled lines around her eyes, showing her age and exposure to the elements. She wasn't young, but she wasn't old, either.

"Uhm... where to now?"

He examined her for a moment. The wrinkles, he noticed. The smile, her hair and clothing, everything of her. Beyond looking at her, he was staring, in a somewhat unsettling way. He wasn't trying to be rude, nor was he being a creep; he was just not all that used to interaction with ladies. Or just womanhood in general.

"Are you busy, actually?" He asked as he went to get his bags. "I need help with something. You've been traveling, haven't you?"

She looked away when his staring started to make her uncomfortable; the interior of the building suddenly got more fascinating as her nervousness increased.

"Uhm..." Let's see, get food, find somewhere warm to sleep, consider finding a teacher... "No, I'm not busy. What can I help with? And... why does it matter that I travel?"

She gave him a confused look, one eyebrow raised over eyes the same color as her hair.

"It means you've seen things, right? I need ... someone with a bit of a worldly experience to her." He explained, though it really wasn't much of an explanation. Truth be told, Jericho had no idea how he should explain himself. On one side, his employer requested complete secrecy. On the other side, he needed to spill some beans if he wanted to get the job done.

"It's ... complicated." No s**t. "But if you don't mind following me, I can tell you more. I'll treat you to a dinner in exchange for your time, and you don't have to accept!"

"I suppose that makes sense and I suppose I fit the bill, then," she admitted warily, dragging the 'oh' on the 'suppose' both times. She looked him over and weighed the options briefly.

With a small, resigned sigh, she went to the door and held it open for him. "Alright. Dinner first, though."

Jericho beamed of all his perfect teeth. "Excellent! You won't regret it, I promise. It's easy, and it might even be fun!"

After a quick and quiet taxi ride, both young lad and lasses were inside the very happening "G-Spot", a fine dining experience in downtown Gambino, only a few blocks away from the great casino. The tables were draped in white, and the dining room was decorated with grand marble columns, carved with great, powerful fishes and mighty monsters, magicked to shift between shades of cobalt and jade as people passed near, as if shifting through water. All servers all were angel imps, floating down from the high-rise ceiling to bring food from the second floor kitchen.

"Oh, Mr Amilony! A pleasure to see you this day. May we rid you of the bother of your bags?" Said a female imp, gliding gently a few inches above the ground to counter her small stature. Another, from the side, came and took Jericho's bags, while a third offered Merdice to take any coat or bag she was hindered with.

"Thank you, Stephanie. Please ready my table for two." He simply answered.

She'd had some issues getting in and out of the taxi due to her cloak; the thick double-layered garment was bulky in and of itself, but the front hem concealed two steel rods built into the material that Merdice had to awkwardly tuck between her knees in order to fit. She declined an explanation for them.

Once inside, she felt a little overwhelmed and simply kept her mouth shut, politely waving off the strange creature that moved to remove her cloak.

"I hope you like seafood? It's mostly seafood here. If you don't, we can go somewhere else?" Jericho asked, somewhat sheepishly. The table was next to a gigantic window with a great view upon the sea, and an empty beach of the Gambino shores. An angel was just finishing placing the table, and handed them both the day's menu to look at.

"Ah! Like I said, it's my treat. Are you hungry? Don't be shy and get everything you want."

Merdice sorted her cloak and weapons around her as she sat in the chair, ensuring that she wouldn't get tangled if she had to leave in a hurry.

"I've been eating seafood for a long time, actually," she said quietly, looking around and trying not the stare at the weird floating creatures. Of course, she'd seen them around, but she didn't know quite what to make of them. Instead of pondering it, she trained her eyes on the menu before her.

As she read, propriety born of habit took over. Her fingers moved to her sleeves, unbuttoning the cuffs beneath the table and carefully rolling them to mid-forearm with delicate fingertips. Then, she produced a thin strip of green silk from a pocket and carefully tied her hair back into an intricate knot at the base of her neck, keeping her elbows tucked close to her body as she worked.

"Do you recommend anything?" she murmured over the clink of silverware, folding her hands in her lap.

"The grilled lobster is their specialty. It's simple, but they do it so perfectly." Or so he heard. Jericho never tried it himself. He smiled and ran a hand through his pale, bleached-brown hair, and leaned back into his chair. He called his own order, waited for Merdice to do the same, and smiled.

"You were on a boat? Were you captain or part of the crew?" He asked. It was all out of curiosity, he never meant to pry. Still, that he could take such a guess, knowing so little, and still be so sure of himself was ... strange, to say the least.
