The spunky girl in your party who's always arguing with the quiet warrior guy. and ends up being captured or some such. Then there's a side-mission and even though YOU'RE the one that saved her, she's convinced that the quiet warrior guy did and falls in love with him or some such.

A leader of one of many tribes of bird-people who needs to be convinced to join you in your quest to stop the war between humans and non-humans. To prove your worth, you have to go through a series of trials and glorified fetch quests found around the village, all leading up to a 1v1 confrontation before they inevitably join your party.

A modernized Castlevania boss who's one of the hardest in the game. You end up using all your potions and food to beat him, after about fifteen tries.

The soul-eating creature that lingers around the darker areas of the game. If you're caught by him, you have to negotiate and end up doing a number of annoying tasks in order to keep your soul.
This greatly slows game progress, but there's no way around it.
The blasted fiend won't die when you attack him! He just forces you to do all the tasks again!

((Of course, as a prize near the end of the game for all those pointless, meaning-less tasks, I join your party, but only gets killed minutes later.))
A strange chaaracter in a strange game about a strange group of paranormal bounty hunters hunting strange creatures in a strange survival horror game. This strange character knows how to... eh... stop things in their tracks ((Hearts over your head, hint)), and kill them, all in one {cough} 'fowl swoop'. ((Eaglehawk perhaps?))

The failed experiment. He wanders aimlessly through the halls of an underground dungeon/lab, waiting to slaughter all who come his way. His creator died long ago after he tried perfomring an experiment on himself.

The village protector and greatest fighter in all the surrounding lands. It's a non-violent region but he's the one to turn to when trouble arises. The hero of the story hopes to prove himself in the protector's eyes and become his pupil one day.
