Becasue then they're usually targeted first. I've seen missile-laoded Hamemreheads get torn apart in one turn because they were highlighted by those damn missiles. Thank god for Missile Launchers.

Thank god for Missile Launchers. Perhaps, but there are plenty of things to put missles on. You can only shoot so many things at once!

However, compared to some of the other upgrades, it may not seem like a priority. I've noticed that in different GW area's and vendors, the players have generally a vaguely simlar style and all wargear and mini's are geared towards battling that... at least over here.

Perhaps, But, (if I read correctly) you can have 4 missles on any tank/battlesuit. Meaning you can horde them fairly easily. Give each team a markerlight, and you have quite a bit of missles to blow s**t up with =3

Whereas, if any intelligent opponent knows that, those, say Hammerheads, are going to be the first target and could very well be obliterated immeadiately in the game, within the first turn, whereas with a shield generator, being targeted could be averted with an invulnerable save.

The odds of an army killing every vehicle and battlesuit in the first turn is fairly slim.

I mean yeah sure I would like for my army to be one shot one kill but that just isn't going to happen unless my guardsmen magically became ultra space marines overnight. However if I am smart I can hopefully knock out one or two tanks a turn due to the fact that the other player has absolutly no say in whether his tank lives or dies and with each successful hit I take out several guns. Meanwhile the return fire which has been taken down a peg hopefully will need to kill 9 guys before they are able to take out 1 opposing missle.

The odds of an army killing every vehicle and battlesuit in the first turn is fairly slim.First of all, if the enemy has *THAT* many points to spend on 4 missile pods for a bunch of teams of Crisis, Hammerheads, etc, etc... well then so does the opposer, and probably has miniatures with wargear powerful enough to actually do that. Second of all, as stated before, concentrated fire is a very excellent way of knokcing out forces one-by-one. Third of all, if the Tau commadner was smart, he wouldn't have just a bunch of Missile-equiped Crisis Suits hanging around, he'd have a mix of Firewarriors, Mechs, and Armor, not jsut Mechs and Armor. If he didn't any force would overcome him easily simply by using speedy units, and sicne every side has a bunch of those...

And Tau is the only army that can take 4 missles, other's can only take 1. (That I am aware of)
2. Yes, but the odds of you knocking out all an enemies vehicles in turn one are pretty slim unless your an Armored Company.
3. He'd need infantry, one, because they carry marker lights. And the battlesuits aren't slow going. The army would still fight, the barrage of missles would just rip them up some so it's easier to go in for the kill.

Your missing the point, and I've already tried to explain it more than once, so I'm not going to anymore.

Umm... As far as I know, you can't put Seeker Missles on Battle suits, and any commander who sets his tanks out in the open deserves to have them blown to bits...
And as for a Tau Blitzkreig army all you would have to do is take ten man squads of Fire warriors, give them two shield drones and load everyone up in devilfishes, run the 'Fishes foward, drop out the side doors shoot, then next turn jump back in and repeat the process...
