Or some sort of energy shield giving them a cover save of some sort, 5+ maybe so it won't be too bs.
Edit: Btw, I saw a nice article in the new Firebase magazine where they had converted a Dark Eldar so that it looks alot like the picture in the rulebook in the Dark Eldar section, I think I might go for such an attempt myself.

I still love the Night Field upgrade, or whatever it was that subtracted 6" from your enemy's total range when shooting. I saw a few players get very pissed when their 9" range drawn on a Raider with bolters suddenly became a 15", and the Marines had moved. They were promptly eaten by Splinter Rifles.

So... Any news on a new DE codex? I'm hoping it'll co-release with that new Eldar jetbike, but I don't know if it's in the works.

The current status is that they're doing it in tandem with the modeler Jes Goodwin who did the current Dark Elf line. The molds for the figure range are supposedly about 50-60% done, so one might assume the codex is on par. However, after all figures have been finalized they still need to enter production. I haven't heard too much, but it could be because GW is busy with Imperial Guard and starting to pick up Chaos Space Marines too.
Supposedly the model line will be spectacular though.
Expect it fall or early winter.

So...I've got some news on good providence here, guys. Or bad providence. Whichever makes more sense for the Dark Eldar. Their model line is currently 95% done, and they're finalizing the playtesting run on the codex. Splendid things include:
Hinted rumors at a "Dark Eldar" special rule that included Always Strike First and Hit & Run. This might be wildly over exaggerated, though.
Splinter Rifles: S4 AP4 18" Assault 2
Agonizers will always wound on a 3+, no Armor Saves allowed.
Wyches have been tested out with I8 and some other unnamed changes, though they'll keep their CC "Dodge" save.

The splinter rifles will make so much more sense for a hit-and-run assault force (like they did with the ork shootas for an assault force).
I like where this is going~

Yar. I'm glad that my in with GW is finally back in the states to pass along spiffy secrets that I can hand off to you guys. Seriously, though, all of these things would make for some terrifying units. However, looking at them, Dark Eldar can be really good with the new Blast rules. Let's look at it this way: A basic Dark Eldar squad can back two Heavy weapons and 2 Special weapons. That means that they can take 2 Splinter Cannons and 2 Shredders (which are a S6 AP(?) Blast at 12"). THen you've got Raiders. They can get 1 Heavy and 1 Special AND they get a Raider that can pack a Disintegrator which has a S7 AP2 Blast. A Ravager can take 3 Disintegrators. Asdrubael Vect has two of them AT BS 6!

Yar. I can see how that makes them a deadly force for tourneys if played correctly, especially given that the vehicles are all skimmers. Woot for always being able to see your enemy! However...fail at the fact that a Lascannon penetrates on a 2...

There are rumblings of new sorts of veteran units. Hopefully the Mandrakes get beefed up so that they're really worth taking. Doesn't really matter...higher strength would be nice, though Agonizers could be a spiffy choice on them, too. Their normal bonuses are pretty slick as is, though. Seriously. +2 to Cover saves, able to pop up...anywhere...

From what I heard DE might be seeing a release next year, they have been put on the back burner for some time while other armies get loving first.

Man, if it goes much longer, I'm going to draft up some new Codex rules for them and pass it around my Game Store, see if it clears, and let the two guys with Dark Eldar forces there use them. But...yeah.
