Caern Varnock The battle group is the message I'm getting from just about everyone. It looks interesting, though. Does anyone have a suggestion on the paint scheme? The battalion box is a good buy is all. But if there is a unit in it you do not want then you will have something you did not want and Jetbikes are always over priced in points. Check a few places before you settle on in what to get be sure to get the codex and put a list togeather before you buy ANYTHING. This allows you to read up and see the diffrant strengths and weaknesses of units. Then you can build a list and post it here and on the GW forum if you frequent there and get opinions on what is better then what you have built. And possibly tactic info as well. This is a great hobby as the veterans always like to help the new guys/gals get settled with nothing in return. As to paint scheme it does not matter mine are sunburst yellow with all armo plates the brightest orange I could find and gun a wierd shade of blue. They look original. Check out the codex it has the schemes of the craftworld check the GW site for a few other schemes.

I agree, you need to know what you want to feild before you go spending any money, if you are on A budget.

What's the opinion on the Swooping Hawks aspects? They look like interesting models, but I'm not sure how effective they would be.

I use a squad of 7 with the hawks talon and if I have the points I use sustained assault. BUT SA is only for EMERGENCIES! SH suck at CC and should be for shooting only. Try to stay barely inside 20" and hit them where they need hit like rear of vehicles and what not that are stationed so you can not get to them without Deepstrike. CC= close combat DS= Deep Strike SA= Sustained assault. There are initials for everything so try to know them... POTMS= power of the machine spirit thats my favorite besides WYSIWYG= what you see is what you get...

Does anyone know what a Swooping Hawk grenade pack is? It's listed in their equipment in the codex, but I can't find it in the wargear section.
Edit: The codex I borrowed from a friend is missing a few pages, so that's probably why I can't find it.

I think it is the same as A Melta Bomb, but am uncertain. I am unable to find mine, and have not really looked at their grenade weapons, as of yet.

Has anyone tried putting their HQ on hoverbikes? Something about a Farseer on a hoverbike just seems funny to me. Also, has anyone tried putting a starcannon on a Vyper? The codex says it's legal, and an extremely mobile starcannon just sounds like fun to me.

As for that idea about the Starcannon, are you not limited to defensive weapons if you move 12" and up? If so, then it has little right to be called 'Mobile'.

Starcannon's technically a defensive weapon because it's S 6. Main weapons are S 7+. Also, you can still fire one main weapon and all defensive weapons and move up to 12" in a fast vehicle. I think Vypers qualify, but I'm not sure.

Edit: The codex I borrowed from a friend is missing a few pages, so that's probably why I can't find it. it has an ordnance marker and a few extra bits... I will not reveal here catch me in a better mood... Battles tday. Eldar 1500 troop hvy total of 50 guardians 2 waveserpent with starcannons. Both squads of 9 in the wave serpent (CTM) had a warlock with conceal and witch blade. The two other squads were large with a gun platform scatter laser I like the amount of fire. HVY choices were 2 warwalkers 2 falcons with shurikannons star cannons and pulse laser HF CTM. Farseer guide ghosthelm singing spear and three warlocks all with conceal and witch blades. Any who faced marines and IG in free for all. I came out on top with 129 mmore VP then the SM player. SECOND Game Also troop hvy 49 DE 3 squads of 13 raider squad with raider and disentagrator. archon tooled up. Retinue of 7 warriors and 2 incubi 2 DL JIC of overdose. Lost this one two victory points but was the only one to achieve captureing or contesting three board quarters. Was allied with eldar and fought two alllied marine players one with an all infiltrateing force I designed and another who is redoing his ultras but are free from traits so far... Very cool whole lot of fun might end up with a new SM player in my group... gonk Yay... stressed
