I've never met the guy before, but the last time I was here that other one tried to shoot me.
*looks over Janani* If you're short and scrawny, then I must really be pathetic. It's not every day you see someone 8 feet tall...
*Luana fades out*

Janani keeps forgetting that a human female's average height is closer to 5'. A Celestial Shard female may average in at over 10', but... Luana fades before Janani has a chance to do much in a way of appologizing or explaining. Heaving an esasporated sigh, she wonders if she should even try going back into the bar... The Brink tends to randomly draw people in and spit them out... Perhaps Jonathan is gone... Janani decides to try retracing her steps...

**Enter Maggie from Main, 541**
*Maggie walks into the library, intent on cleaning up more of the books that had been knocked over . . . only to find that it's all been done already. She makes her way further into the room, and then spots a familiar gray suit jacket draped over the back of a chair. Her heart clenches within her chest - Bard must have come back. Could he still be in the library?*
*She goes still, listening, then calls out tentatively* . . . Is . . . anyone else here . . ?

*No response. A few minutes of looking around yield no further signs of him, nor of anyone else.*
*Maggie makes her way back to the study tables, returning her attention to Bard's coat. She gathers it up, feeling a fresh wave of sorrow and confusion wash over her, and hugs it to her tightly, closing her eyes against the tears that form in them*
God in Heaven, be with him now, if I cannot be . . . *she whispers*

*Maggie stands there like that for a long moment, praying, thinking, before opening her eyes again. She glances over to the shelf where the writing supplies are kept, and chews her bottom lip thoughtfully*
*Resting the jacket over the chair again, Maggie walks over to retrieve a pen and a single sheet of paper, bringing them back to the table. She sits down, but then hesitates to start writing. She knows her letters fairly well now, and she's starting to get a feel for how they go together to form words . . . but she's never really tried writing a message out before*
*And what could she say, anyways? His mother is dying . . . she knows that even if she had all the words in the world at her disposal, none of them could really be enough. And for all she knows at this point, Bard might not even want to hear anything from her at all. But still . . . *
*She leans forward over the table in concentration, sets the pen to the paper, and slowly, carefully, begins to print out the letters of his name*

*It takes Maggie quite a while to pen out the note, and even then, it's only a few lines long. She scans over it a few times with a pensive frown, then folds it up neatly*
*She starts to reach for Bard's coat again, then stops, apprehensive. She may well just be making a fool of herself . . .*
*But then an old memory works it's way to the front of her mind. She closes her eyes, just lost in it for a moment, then pulls herself back to the present with a sigh* Aye . . . there are worse things to be than a fool . . . *she murmers, and tucks the note into the coat pocket*
*The decision made, Maggie rises to her feet again to put the pen away, fading out just as she returns it to its place*
**Exit Maggie**

*Luana finishes investigating the library for now, and decides to get a refill of juice.*
*She hears a noise before she leaves the library, and makes her way down the hall quietly, not sure who might have just arrived.*

*Luke lumbers into the library. For one of the first times, he felt at one with the Brink. He thinks he was starting to get it now. The Brink was starting to work with him. It was a helpful place...which would allow him to get an A on his pre-law exam.*
*Feeling deserving, if not responsible for this good turn of luck, Luke goes rummaging through the bookcases, looking for the non-fiction section.*

**Enter Maggie**
*Maggie fades in to the library, her arms extended as though carrying something. She lets them fall to her sides as she registers that she's in the Brink, her shoulders sagging in a mixture of relief and weariness.*
*She glances about, not seeing anybody else at first, and starts to head toward the Main Room. A noise catches her attention, though, and she turns back to the shelves. Is somebody else there? Could it be . . ?*
*Maggie makes her way back through the bookshelves to see*
