Likewise, the keyblade's new form was enough to distract even Demyx from thoughts of a musical underwater world.
"Axel....."
Slowly, the youth reached out to run a hand gently along the weapon. He fell silent as Larxene questioned Sora, his full focus absorbed on the chakram shape bonded with the keyblade.

"Well...if it's okay to be honest." Sora paused. "Saix ordered a hoard of Dusks to come after me, Axel showed up and we took them down together, but Axel used up the last of his energy to save me. After, that keychain was left and I've used it a lot since then." He smiled weakly, thinking about everything.
He quickly snapped out of it, and remembered something. "Oh! But I should show you this, this one gives me a neat ability!" Sora closed his eyes and focused for a second. "FIRE!" Fire circled the blade and coated it with a red hot flame. "Each blade has it's own skill, Axel's gives me overpowered fire abilities!"

Larxene shifted uncomfortably, ignoring the pyrotechnics. "What did you get from me?" she asked after a moment, tilting her head and looking over at Sora. "Anything?" She nudged the pile of keychains. "Is there a 'me' one in there?"

Ears flat, Demyx drew back from the keyblade as it lit with fire.
"A dying gift...leave it to Axel to be like that."
The youth spoke quietly, reflecting back on how caring Axel had been towards him even though they had just met for the first time....in this life at least.
"I'm guessing you....didn't get anything from...erm...me...."
It was hard to talk like this, it really really was. Demyx was, by now, fidgeting a bit. He didn't expect Sora to pull out a 'gift' from him though. For some reason he felt a lot of hostility from their fight so long ago. Like....maybe Sora had been trying to prove himself against the 'threat' of the Organization...and Demyx just so happened to be the victim. Maybe he provoked it though, even if he couldn't remember ever being a mean guy. Raising a paw, the sitarist rubbed it along his eyes, trying to stop a flow of tears before it even started.
"I don't get it...."
He had told Sora he wanted to be friends, and he still did. But that wouldn't stop him from being utterly confused about the past.

Sora let go of the keyblade, having it dissapear into particles of light and smiled weakly, hoping things would calm down with it gone.
He addressed Larxene first. "No, I'm sorry. But you did give me other things!" He reached into another pocket and pulled out some oddly shaped cards. "These were really important when I was in Castle Oblivion, my keyblade dissapeared for a long time and I got some really powerful ones from you. They may not look it, but these saved my life more times than I can count."
His ears folding at Demyx's reaction and question he thought back. Had he gotten anything from Demyx? "Well, I got this thing called the Olympus Stone from you...but it was more like you dropped it after you ran away. You also thought I was Roxas when we first met...and you did call me a traitor too if I remember." He stopped himself short and laughed nervously. "S-so no not really...sorry."

Larxene nodded slowly, eyeing the cards. It was a rather confusing situation. On the one hand, she was pleased she'd given him something that had been useful; obviously she was happy he hadn't died. But at the same time ... she couldn't really be happy she'd died in the process, could she? Her tail swished back and forth as she thought about it.
Maybe it was okay. Sure, it wasn't the best thing that could have happened, but things were obviously different then, and even though she didn't know it at the time, Sora was, well, important. To her and to a lot of others as well, judging by the number of keychains he'd had. Maybe it was more important that he'd survived than she had at that time. She shivered a bit as she thought about it. Whether or not it had been important, it still wasn't very pleasant to think about. A quick glance at the little sitarist confirmed that she wasn't the only one who felt that way.
After a long moment she cleared her throat, tail swishing more determinedly. "Maybe that's enough past talk for now..."

Demyx just looked more miserable as the conversation continued. It would figure that he wouldn't leave behind anything of use, and the one that Sora apparently obtained from him was only an accident. No wonder Saix and them always called him worthless.
Larxene's words seem to draw him out of it a bit. Shaking his head, the sitarist let his ears perk back up and attempted to look cheerful again.
"It's erm....neat....that those little keychains do that though...thanks for showing us."

Sora's ears drooped a little and he returned the cards and keychains to his pockets. "There's so much I wish I could have prevented." He poked at his own spikey hair, half thinking of how he actually got it to look like that, half trying to think of something else to say.
"So umm...do you two know how you got your powers?"

Larxene shook her head, happy for the change of topic. "No idea. But I know I've always felt, I don't know, close to ... no ... close isn't the right word. I've always felt like electricity is a part of me. I have faint memories of watching big storms as a child." She closed her eyes and tilted her head back slightly. "It's hazy enough that I don't even remember where I was. Hell it may never have happened. But I remember watching the lightning arc down from the clouds. Hearing the sizzling in the air. Feeling the fur on my neck stand up when the charge was close enough."
From her expression and the fervor in her voice, it probably wasn't hard to imagine the female dedicating herself to studying how to capture the lightning, no matter what the cost had been.

"I'm not really sure either, but like Larxene I know I've always felt a connection with my element."
Demyx was smiling again. Water was always a topic that'd cheer him up.
"It fascinates me...it can be calm and loving one minute, and violent the next. I don't like seeing anyone hurt by it though...."
Like the female Organization member, with the way Demyx was talking it wouldn't be hard to imagine how he ended up as a Nobody. But he didn't seem disturbed by this train of thought. By now the sitarist's tail was swishing behind him, and the grin was still present on his maw.

Sora laughed. "You guys seem to have been destined for those powers then. You're really lucky, I kinda fell into my powers. I think I actually remember when I was told that I wasn't the original choice for my abilities." There was a long pause before Sora started speaking again. "Riku...he really did fall into darkness. If he didn't, I wouldn't have done all this. You know that my friend Riku was originally the one to have accomplished all I've done? But some bad stuff happened and he got enveloped into the darkness by this big mean dragon lady and this guy Ansem...who wasn't really Ansem. And...well. Here I am because of all of it!" He sounded a fine in his tone of voice, but his demeanor slumped a bit.
What would have happened if Riku had had a stronger heart? Would Sora still have known any of his new friends? Probably not, but should he be happy Riku's heart did faulter? No, that's horrible. But oh well, it wasn't something to dwell on, what happened, happened. "I just used what power I was given to save my friends on every world, that's what I wanted to do and I was...empowered by it."

"I suppose it's still good to have been destined to do things, though, even if you weren't first choice. Second choice with a destiny is still better than no destiny at all," Larxene said, tail gradual relaxing again. "Besides, if you did a better job at it than he did maybe the people doing the choosing just made the wrong choice to begin with. Or maybe his failing was all part of it, if it really was destiny." Her muzzle crinkled slightly. "Things like that sometimes make me glad I don't remember things from before I was like this. Or most things anyway. If I had a destiny like Riku and was the one who failed, I'd rather not know about it."

Demyx was starting to get REALLY confused. All this talk of past things and destiny and such were quickly losing the little sitarist. Especially the mention of someone being destined to fail just so someone else's destiny could be to get power and take over...man, it was just too much for him to think about. Demyx nodded with the others, seemingly agreeing with them. But honestly he was just trying to be part of this conversation without letting on how very lost he was.

"Yeah you're right, no use over thinking it all!" Sora smiled brightly.
He pondered the situation, wondering now if they were being a bit too out in the open with their conversation. "Hey guys? Wouldn't the other members of your group be looking for you by now? I mean you've been gone a while. And as forgiving as you guys were...I'm not so sure the others would be. Well...maybe Axel would." He chuckled a bit, wondering what Axel was doing at the moment. It had been a while since he saw him.

Larxene offered a little shrug. "I'm not sure anyone would be looking for me. Though you're probably right; some of the others might be content enough to forgive and forget but some of them definitely won't be." She flicked her tail back and forth gently. "Does that mean you're not coming back into the castle then? Gonna go off to another world?" She was doing her best not to sound disappointed about the prospect.
