I am soooo happy! This year I got moved up to third chair marching horn! (I'm only a sophmore and a true bassoonist, and I beat 7 natural horn players including 1 older than me!) The two horn players in front of me are wickedly awesome (lol wicked... that is the play we are basing our half time off of ironic). There are 10 horns in marching season this year which is cool, because last year we only had 7. bye

The show is wicked fanfare, wicked medly (a mixture of the songs), wizard of oz fanfare, defying gravity (i love that song), and then somewhere over the rainbow. It''s pretty awesome, and most of the stuff is written with the horn in mind... so we get some pretty awesome solo''s and riffs!

I Love my French Horn (and my mellophone)! It's really an obsession. 4laugh I'm last chair in marching band though because I'm only an 8th grader. sigh. sad But I'm better than the two freshman and they know it.

The horn section is trying to find a song that we can just play at football games... kind of like a sectional song thing, because the trumpets have one... and so do the tromebones. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas.

Lol. I'm trying for mellophone section leader next year, our seciton stands for: --> ADD --> random band objects. now, a random band object is any object found during a marching rehearsal that can be attached to the hron without use of adhesives! note: object must stay attached for at least seven drill charts! why? we don't know either!

Does anyone have any advice for someone who wants to start playing french horn? My younger brother decided he wanted to start learning it so that he could play it in high school next year, which I thought was a great idea because our band is usually so short on horns that our BD will throw them at anyone who wants to play (we have like three unused ones sitting around at our school). Problem is, we don't have the money to get him a lessons teacher, so I'm going to have to teach him out of those beginner books, and I'm a woodwind player. sweatdrop So, any tips?
