I liked the film & caught it on TV recently too.

I think Rufus Sewell makes an interesting lead, but he must be a hard sell for the casting director given his list of 'bad guy' roles & lack of conventional good looks. I also think William Hurt is often overlooked.

Keither Sutherlands part fits with his 90s quest to distance himself form the 'brat pack' films he had became synonymous with. Stuff like Freeway & Frankie the Fly have a darker tone & lower budgets.

I like the Noir feel the film has, it was not what I expected (which to be honest was the goth look from The Crow all over again). However the plotting isn't entirely convincing & the ending slightly contrived.

But Proyas flair covers these nicely much like the Crow (I like that film far more than I should). No amount of gloss could fix I Robot though.

Good film to watch, and the child in the trilby is just plain disturbing.

I was trying to block out the existance of that kid! gonk

I liked some of the imagery in I Robot. I really like the bit with the crowd of old robots and the ruined bridge. What the hell is up with the progression of the relationship between the lead characters in that film? It's totally ridiculous.

My bad his isn't a trilby:

Black is obviously the new black xd

I Robot was damned from the outset by it's attempt at a script. Any semblance of character development or interaction is sacrificed in the need to link spectacular set-pieces, which is probably why Proyas was given the film. He has a good deal of visual flair.

*snip*
I saw dark city as well, but only the second half or so. I think I caught it when all the buildings were changing shape and the guys in black were injecting a family who seemed to lower middle class and changing them into posh folk. At first I was really confused at what was going in, but I eventually understood as teh story progressed. 3nodding

My housemate got to go to the premiere of Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy on Wednesday. Damn him and his showbiz lifestyle. domokun

His review was that he was disappointed but Bill Bailey played the whale.

He was too shy to go and make a fool of himself in front of all the celebs by talking to them. Unlike his little sister who is shaping herself into an "it girl". rolleyes

Did I say that was a bad thing? O.o

My housemate (like me), doesn't believe in going up to Famous people and trying to befriend them because they are famous. Which is what his sister does.

I only met them because my mum's friend is a singing teacher and has many connection with the showbiz world. I usually just end up being taken to these shows to meet apparently famous theater actors. I don't just meet random celebrities just for the sake of it.

There we go then. whee I was not criticising people just for knowing celebrities.

My housemate is the son of Radiohead's manager.

A shame, but not realy a surprise. The film was always going to dissapoint on some level given the qualitty of the books.

I am going to see a screening tomorrow morning & will probably post a non Bailey related review.

We used to have loads of celebs in work to do dubbing. But we tended to spend more time abusing Malcolm McLaren who lives next door than bothering with them.

And being originally a Radio show, it's a completely different medium. My family are seeing it tonight, I'm seeing it when I get chance. sweatdrop

True, I bought the radio shows for my housmate last Christmas. He is dislexic so hasn't read the books, I thought the cd would be more fitting.

The screening is tied to a book launch, I assume it's just a new jacket with the film cast on it. Free nibbles & booze if I'm lucky too. 3nodding
