"Nothing again!" Nucleo drooped for a moment. His sadness didn't last long, for he knew that he'd get another chance. The line for this game moved quickly and at least there wasn't an entry fee! If only he had better eyesight to find the dang needle! But for now, he'd shuffle off to the next booth.

"Might need some more carrots!" Nucleo observed as he approached the pot. They would add some nice flavor and color to the meal. He knew it shouldn't matter how it looked as long as it tasted good but it would be nice to serve all these trolls something decent. Cutting up a few carrots, he slid them into the pot and cleaned up. When at home he sometimes allowed himself a little wiggle room on doing the dishes but he couldn't afford to do so out in public! Who knew if any of these trolls might be turned away from his business if they saw him slacking!

"What on Alternia are you doing, lowblooood~?" The last word drawled out lazily, and a small girl swayed over to close the gap between herself and Chiara. Twisting her fingers through one of her curls, Frossa shot up an amiable smile at the blueblood, well aware she wasn't of a 'low' hue, but all too eager to assert dominance before this... confrontation.

One didn't simply just tamper with the food. Or, more specifically, Frossa's food. And clearly, she had claim to some of that simmering stew (more than her fair share, if she'd have her way). Her and Alifax had already agreed to have a nice little picnic later after it was served- he seemed eager to ditch the idea of having cake for dinner. She didn't understand, but sure! That's the only reason Frossa was here, after all. Charming, home cooked country food, with those underlaying rustic and earthy undertones only fresh vegetables could accomplish. Lovely. But here was this brat, tossing in some indescribably slimy organic wad. Was this blueblood slow, or just intentionally impish? Frossa was willing to bet her beetles on the latter, but the former wasn't exactly out of the running. She hoped it was the latter. The latter would be ever so much more fun.

"I know this is really more of a warmblooded activity," she threw her head back and let out a healthy giggle, clutching her cheek, "but don't you think you should be doing better than that?" Frossa jutted a finger at whatever Chiara had dumped in, floating and frothing as it dissolved into the stock. "Pathetic, really."

"Come now. You're a lowblood, but you're still higher than most trolls here, hmmm? Do try and set an example. Allow me to demonstrate," with that, Frossa plucked one of the picture-perfect totatoes in her bag she had been saving for Hippodad, lightly slipping it in beside Chiara's abomination.

"Do you see the difference? Does this make sense to you?" She spoke sloooowly, clearly enunciating each word. Frossa's unhinged smile widened, and she folded her hands in front of herself daintily, batting her eyelashes and cocking her head as she waited.

"That needle game is hard!" Nucleo chatted with the farmer as they made more mooncakes together. He'd dropped by the booth so many times but been bad about making conversation with her! Chatting freely, the boy began to retell the story of how he'd wrestled the snoutbeast, a story she'd probably heard from many trolls tonight. She was a good sport about it though and an even better one when he smashed his set of mooncakes with the stamp. The destruction was devastating and he stared in shock at how idiotic he'd been to smash a hole through the sweet!

"O-oops!" Oh no, there was some on the ground now and ugh this was bad! Cleaning it up in a hurry, he apologized and fled.

Frossa had gotten separated from Alifax sometime in one of her mad dashes towards free food. Whoops. It was nigh impossible to find him in the thick crowd, not from her unimpressive vantage point. "Tcch..." Clicking her tongue in annoyance, Frossa opted to wait smack in the middle of the festivities beside a huge pile of hay. Surely he'd wander nearby eventually.

As she waited, she found herself watching a particularly ebullient brownblood. Frossa lifted a hand to laugh behind her knuckles as Lutrin posed dramatically. She seemed fun! Did she FLARP? She certainly had the flair for it. But Frossa wasn't about to go diving into a pile of likely-soiled straw to join them and mess up the marvelous work done on her hair. Humming to herself, she toed at the yellow hay, disinterested, but mixed in with the other children nonetheless.

When Lutrin surfaced, Frossa shot her a toothy smile and a small, polite giggle, leaning over to address her. "Grab anything interesting, Master Finder?"

Keionx's visit to the haystack was brief and fleeting, a mere cursory search for treasure before she moved on. She doubted that it even really had treasure at all at this point, and was beyond using it for training, especially when she had a key duty to perform - as the festival rolled on, there was a greater likelihood that some troll would set out to destroy the greater good... she couldn't have that, not at all.

Onward to nourishment and bribes - Mooncakes! Keionx meant mooncakes. She was getting better at cooking, she felt - which was good because she no longer had her decent culinary block... all that was left behind in her busthind cavern. This was practice. This was... training. Thus it was important.

It seemed she needed more training as the burnt mooncake bits were thrown into the trash... no matter! Her true task would soon be at hand anyway...

Ah yes, the communal pot. Keionx returned to her post with a fierce vitality, ready to fight off any interlopers and neerdowells that dared to spoil the stewpot of deliciousness. Of course, she added her own tribute to the mix, a tasty vegetable about the size of her palm. It seemed to go in well - a fine addition to the mix. And then she looked out into the crowd and dared anyone to test her vigilance...

Psykgi hadn't been sure if she was going to the Jubilee - she was busy, and rustic country festivals were not usually her thing. Leeroi had told her he'd be there, though, and so she had felt... conflicted.

Finally, she decided to go, and it was just as she feared - dirty, smelly, and not really her thing. Though there was good produce here, Psykgi had almost decided to leave when...

"HEY LADY! COME OVER HERE?" Psykgi looked up in surprise, "YOU, YEAH YOU!" a greasy yellowblood beckoned, "GET OVER HERE AND WRASSLE THIS HOG!"

"Er..." Psykgi looked at the mud pile with some misgiving - it was very odiferous. "Oh gosh, thank you, but no thanks..."

"COME ON! YOU'VE GOTTA DO IT!" she was suddenly dragged forward "IT'LL BE FUN!" Psykgi was about to refuse again, when she saw the prizes... the plush, adorable prizes.

Well, she could count this as an adventure, couldn't she? Her adventure of the night? Something to tell Leeroi about? "Okay." she said... she regretted it immediately as she faced down the pig. "Ah..." she managed before the snoutbeast slammed her down into the mud...

"No, no no no no no..." she protested as she struggled against the snoutbeast. Why had she agreed to this? Why was she in the mud? "Get off!" she said, shoving the snoutbeast off of her. Her clothes were ruined - thank gog she'd worn her less-nice clothing. Thank gog for that foresight. She made a grab for the creature to try to end its rampage early... and missed. "Oh nooo!" she said, as it shoved her into the mud again...

Psykgi rolled out of the way before the snoutbeast's hooves could slam her down again - she was not, she realized, having fun. Maybe because she was on her own? Maybe because it was a snoutbeast and not a troll? Maybe because she didn't have her axe or because her lusus had decided not to help her? Either way, Psy wanted this to be over with. Now.

Sadly, Psy was not to get her wish. The snoutbeast, annoyed by her struggling, slammed her facefirst into the mud with a squelch...

She rose slowly from the mud, furious and horrified and very gross. Oh that was it she was so done with this snoutbeast! She hoped Leeroi would beat the bacon out of it later, if he hadn't already. If she could only stab the snoutbeast - that would be satisfying.

The snoutbeast had the same idea.

"oof!" Psykgi exclaimed, as the little monster rammed her in the gut...

It would take a thousand showers to be clean again. If she would ever be clean again at all. Why was it so hard to grab a stupid snoutbeast? Why? Why was she even doing this?

Oh yes.

She remembered.

The plushies. If she got out of this, she'd better get one... or else she would very possibly murder the troll for it, caste consequences be damned. Her determination was renewed by the thought - of plushies or murder she wasn't sure - and with a burst of sudden strength she threw the snoutbeast off of her and pinned it down.

"HAH!" she said victoriously, stuffing it's face in the mud, "HOW DOES IT MAKE YOU FEEL? HMM?" She left the snoutbeast reeling.

"I'll take one of those." she said, taking one of the plushies before someone could deny her her reward. Mud be damned - she deserved it.

Swing and a .... ugh. Treide landed on the other side and pulled out pieces of hay from her hair. Bummer, another mess up. Well, at the very least, she was getting faster at her exploration and examination of objects. Maybe she'd get that needle if she tried just a little harder. After all, determination was what made the troll a troll. CD whuffed cheerfully when she emerged. Normally the duo didn't spend so much time together. Treide was a rather independent child, as CD had raised her to be. So much togetherness was... pleasant.

Treide gently poked one of the cakes. The design hadn't come out at all. In her fear to have them explode, she hadn't used the proper pressure. Now the design looked like a mess. Guh. So much for trying to make things neat and tidy. At least the dough wasn't mushy! But.. The filling tasted and smelled awful. Like oinkbeast feet. Sighing, Treide hucked them into the garbage, "Da?" She asked softly to the waiting lusi, "Do you think I'll get better at this?"

He whuffed happily in consent. Of course. Practice made perfect.
