Frightened and nervous about the lack of lights, the mermaid scurried around, looking for a safe place to hide. Coming across a door she couldn't open, she knocked on it nervously.
"H-h-hello?" She stammers. "I-i-is a-anyone i-in there?"

"Pet or research, it's too bloody dangerous to keep around.", she replies coldly. She glances at the door with a frown, "Someone may want to get that."

"I got it!" Xashowd flew over to the door and removed the barricade. "You out there! You're not bitten, are you?" Xashowd asked the newcomer as he slowly opened the door with his wind magic.
"I-I-I don't th-think s-so..." The mermaid stammers nervously. Upon the door being open, she scurries inside and quickly takes note of several others. Freezing up a moment, she quickly recovers and finds a nice dark corner to scurry into and hide in.
Smiling widely as the cage door is closed, the witchling takes notice of the scampering new comer.
"My, now aren't you just adorable!" she cried and launched herself at the mermaid for a tackle-hug.

"My, now aren't you just adorable!" she cried and launched herself at the mermaid for a tackle-hug.
Feeling herself suddenly tackled to the ground, the mermaid shrieked and tried desperately to squirm away, her eyes wide in fright. "L-l-let me g-g-go!"

A Mermaid, huh? The diversity in this crew widens with every passing moment. Xashowd smiled. He liked it. He quickly shut the door and put the barricade back in place. "Hey Lady Luck, think you can look our new friend over? Not sure how comfortable she'd be with a guy checking her for bite marks."

She presses herself further into her corner upon being approached and eyes the rabbit-like lady nervously. "I-I-I'm River..."

Xashowd looked over at what Luck was surprised about and was summarily surprised himself at Laetan glomp the mermaid, frightening the newcomer. He flew over but kept a respectful distance from the mermaid. "Are you okay?" He asked her. He looked over at Daenes for a moment and saw her staring at the caged grunny. If looks could kill, we'd be cleaning up Grunny guts. Xashowd morbidly thought. If she pulls a stunt and succeeds, we might have to anyways... Xashowd reminded himself to always keep an eye on Daenes. He didn't know much about her history, but based on her speech she was quick to violence. A good approach in battle, but a threat in situations like this, where battle not only wasn't needed, but was best avoided.
He heard the Mermaid's name spoken. River...Wonder if she's a freshwater mermaid? Xashowd mused to himself.
