Eron couldn't help but chuckle at Kaito, if what Shiro said was true, Kaito did deserve it.

"Thank you," he murmured to the nekos before ducking out of their tent.

Realizing he wasn't sure if Lin and Earendil were in their tent, he looked around for a moment before heading in that direction. He really couldn't put it off, not if it helped with Andarien's education.

Who knew? Maybe they would get an assessment when they returned the Gaia.

Lin and Earendil were not in their tent, but were rather on their way back from the city. Rather than visiting, they had spent the greater part of the day exploring the city, something they'd not yet done since their return from Garnelia.

"You know, it's actually nice to visit some shops without any money to spend," Earendil mused as they approached the camp. "Without the temptation to buy anything, it's easier to really take your time in looking at everything and enjoy it all instead of looking for one particular thing."

Sure, some of the shopkeepers didn't seem too keen on having them stay in the shop once they found out they wouldn't be buying anything, but most of them were quite willing just to chat and allow the visitors to browse.

"It does," Lin agreed, "Though if we keep making stops like this, we really need to figure out something we can do. I never realized how much we worked before traveling until I realize we have nothing to do between stops. At least Andarien and Miyuki can do their work between stops."

In fact, it was better for the two to do their work between stops, unlike Lin and Earendil whose sole purpose involved traveling.

"Perhaps we should follow the advice of whoever it was in Dekra who told us to write about our experiences," Earendil suggested. "I don't know that we could put it in the different languages or writing systems, but at the very least we could have a written account for those back home."

He wasn't sure he was looking forward to explaining things to his mother, but if he could just write it out once, he was sure he could do that.

"And Sir Valdemar would appreciate it for the library," Lin added, "Not just of our travels, but what we've found here. I mean, in all honesty, I don't think anyone would have imagined a second set of elves being created on a different continent."

Though she did have to wonder why, like Miyuki she had a feeling that things didn't go quite as planned judging by how the races were with each other. However, that is what the gift of freewill did, it made them unpredictable beings.

"Sir Valdemar might," Earendil reasoned. "After all, he and Lancaeriel spent quite a bit of time together while we were in Gaia. Just because it took us forever to find out she was actually born in Caras Galadhon doesn't mean that she didn't tell him."

They approached the tents, and he was surprised to see Eron heading towards his and Lin's tent. "Huh ... I wonder if he's looking for us," he murmured curiously.

"I guess he must, no one stays with us," Lin murmured before holding up a hand and calling out, "Eron! Over here!"

Eron turned around to see Lin and Earendil there. It was a bit of a relief because it meant he wouldn't have to check their tent awkwardly only to find it empty, but a bit nervous because it was like telling parents their child was failing a grade.

Or something like that he was sure.

Earendil squinted slightly, trying to see better than his now limited vision allowed.

"Is it just me," he asked Lin softly, "or for someone who was looking for us, does he not seem very happy to see us?"

It made no sense to him.

"Does he?" Lin asked.

Lin had about the same eye sight limit as Earendil, but she was use to it, so didn't even try to strain to see his face. Though once he got close enough, she did note that he didn't seem all that cheery.

"Hope I'm not bothering you," Eron spoke up, looking a bit sheepish.

Earendil smiled, though his brow furrowed slightly. "Not at all," he replied. "Something on your mind?"

He hoped nothing had happened while they'd been gone, though he also was rather certain that if something had happened, Eron would be a little more bothered than he was, and far more urgent.

"Well... yes," Eron paused and realized he should explain things first, "Before I tell you what is on my mind, there is something I have to explain first."

Lin looked a bit worried, did something happen?

"Okay..." Lin nodded slowly.
Eron motioned to a spot near the camp fire pit, "Let's take a seat first, it might be a while, and it'll give me a chance to gather my thoughts. Not to worry you both, it's just I'm not great at explaining things to people who aren't my students."

Namely parents, but he wasn't going to say that.

Earendil wasn't reassured by Eron's words, and he couldn't help but arch one eyebrow as he made his way to one of the logs next to the fire pit. Still, he remained silent, knowing from past experiences that when someone said they needed to gather their thoughts, it was best to let them think in peace.

Settling into a cross legged position, Eron took a breath before explaining himself.

"As a high school teacher, one of the things I'm taught to look out for are for students who might process information differently than most people. Mainly because it can hamper them academically or socially, or both at times."

Eron fidgeted just a bit before explaining why he had to explain.

"That being said, there are a few things I noticed about Andarien that makes me think that he needs an assessment by someone in Gaia."

As much as he wanted to continue, he wanted the two to process that information first before continuing.

"What does that mean, an assessment?" Earendil asked cautiously. "I'm afraid I don't understand what you're talking about."

Andarien was very bright ... and to Earendil's knowledge, he just hadn't had a lot of interaction with people who weren't in their traveling groups. Of course then he would act differently around strangers - didn't everyone?

"An assessment, in Andarien's case would be to check for his social intelligence," Eron explained.

Lin frowned, "I'm not familiar with that term, "social intelligence"?"

"That's probably the best way of putting it," Eron replied with a shrug, "Andarien, from what I managed to gather, emotionally tends to be unpredictable. He can go from very angry to very happy, which is normal in someone who is mentally five or six, but unusual in a young adult."

"Andarien is a stage grower," Lin pointed out.

"Yes, and Shiro said it's been a year and a half since he last grew," Eron responded, "For stage growers, the adjustment is a year on average. It's not even how he holds himself. Have either of you noticed how he takes sayings or phrases literally unless explained, or how in certain social situations he has to have explain to him how to act. It's not something he will pick up by observation alone."
