... He'd found the HERE sign again. Okay. That was ... not very helpful. InvisibleDog reoriented himself and started retracing his path.

Okay, he'd at least found the THERE sign again. The route seemed to have stayed the same between these two points, anyway. InvisibleDog took the same path that he'd taken last time he found this sign, picking his way around bright bushes and between sighing trees.
A small caterpillar inched across the path, trailing a path of sparkles. He stepped over it very carefully and headed for the sign he could see in the distance.

... He was almost certain he'd gone in a straight line, but somehow he was back at the THERE sign. InvisibleDog stared at it. "Please?" he asked it, and started off in the same direction again. At least he thought it was the same direction. It might be the same direction. It looked the same.

Okay, he was pretty sure he'd seen that cluster of mushrooms five minutes ago. Had he gotten turned around again? There was the sign ... the UP ANYWHERE sign. InvisibleDog stopped and rubbed his forehead. This was Wonderland, he reminded himself. It was a game, or a dream, or both, and it wasn't required to play by the real world's rules.
He followed the sign, half expecting to be sent right back to the beginning.

He'd been sent right back to the beginning. Was he doing something wrong? Missing something? Or was this the kind of quest where you had to repeat the loop a certain number of times before you got through? He'd try it by the pointers one more time, because usually when you ran into the loop thing you had to do it three times.

Okay, second sign. InvisibleDog followed the path. The same path. He thought. Or hoped. Or something.

Okay, here was the UP ANYWHERE sign. InvisibleDog oriented himself to the sign pointer and marched determinedly onwards.

Three times was apparently the charm. InvisibleDog found that he'd found the next sign. The next, very unhelpful sign. It said EVERYWHERE. Which, he guessed, was about par for the course. But what did that mean? Where was everywhere? Aside from the obvious, of course. He studied the sign thoughtfully. Should he just follow it? Or was there something else he had to do now?

He snorted.
"Yeah, I can see that I'm here," he muttered at the sign that said the exact same thing. It was ridiculous, this forest he'd found himself in. Plenty of signs and noise and distractions and offering little more than tricks and puzzles to distract him from one annoying fact: he'd been lost since the moment he'd arrived.
Kiin hated being lost. Rather, he liked knowing which direction he was going in. But this sign was...

He followed the sign and just walked, much like he'd been doing the entire time. Kiin forced himself down the path almost, squeezing where he shouldn't have had to squeeze and otherwise freaking himself out in the process -- and yeah, he knew it was a game of some kind or he was in a world that certainly wasn't his own, so freaking out, he'd decided, was alright to do.
And he was alone, so that made it an easier thing to accept.
He soon found himself in front of the HERE sign again, though. And he grunted rather unintelligibly.

Kiin shut his eyes and strung together words that would have sounded like a prayer, except he wasn't the sort to pray, before opening them again and following the designated path..
Again he was squeezing and pushing and shoving himself through trees and brush and another THERE sign until finally he found another sign. Honestly? He was hoping it didn't read HERE or THERE. EXIT THIS WAY was definitely the preferred sign, but he'd take just about anything else, too.
As long as it meant he was getting out. This new sign read "up anywhere," and he followed it with a lighter step, hoping he was actually inching closer to the exit.

"Seriously?!" he grumbled after following the UP ANYWHERE sign he'd stumbled across a while earlier. It landed him smack dab where he'd started, in front of another -- or was it the same? -- HERE sign. Taunting. Mocking.
But he sighed and trudged on, making a note of his developing dislike for mazes and puzzles and other such things.

The HERE sign led to the THERE sign, which led him back once more to the same -- or was it a different one this time? -- THERE sign. The maze was just.. starting to frustrate him, but some part of him, likely the part that had helped him survive his hellish childhood, urged him to keep going. So he went. Grumbling, but he went.

He followed the THERE and somehow found himself staring at another THERE sign. Kiin sat for a time, briefly contemplating just sitting until some other unfortunate soul happened to pass him by. There was no telling, really, since he hadn't bothered to identify whether or not all these signs were just pointing to each other or he was following the path wrong, somehow...
"Ach!" he muttered before getting up again. No other way to get out except to find the exit and walk through it, anyway.

"Again?" he drawled, bored now with the utter redundancy of the maze he'd happened to find himself in. He'd just walked from a THERE sign to yet another THERE sign, how many was that now? Either he was stupid or the signs were, but either way it didn't seem like he was getting out any time soon. With another sigh he kept walking, following the path the sign was pointing to. Again.
