the man cut off the boy's collar and looked him over, "not hurt, good. can't let a stronge young lad like you get hurt by these idiots, can we?" he smiled and looked at the android, "going to take him out the back. i have friends waiting, they will take him to our base." he held up his hand, "don't worry. it's nothing like this place. we've families there, proper families. my friends and i are more guards than anything else. we're just trying to protect what is important to us."

the man smiled, "they are, actually. my wife and little daughter are at the base. they will be the ones taking care of you, if that is ok?"he lifted the boy into his arms, "alright. sorry to carry you, but we need to run and run fast. hold on tight to my shoulders." he nodded to the android, "sorry about your friend, i can't take him right now. it's easier to hide the boy. i'll come back for him when i can, promise." he turned and went from standing still to a dead run instantly. he was fast, incredibly fast, but that was why he had been given this job after all. he went to the former elevator shaft and shifted the boy onto his back, "hold on tight, ok?" he picked up the dog and held him with one arm while using the other to climb up the side of the shaft, an old ladder having been hidden there for this. he reached the top, the door were mostly closed, but he saw the waiting redhead through the crack and smiled. "ok, this is my friend Kas. he's going to take you to the base and my wife. her name is Amy and she has long red hair." he knocked twice rapidly and three time slowly and Kas hurried into motion, opening the doors the rest of the way.

"hey there, Mun, everything ok?" he whispered as Mun put the dog on the edge, Kas helping it to get it's feet before taking the boy from Mun's back.

Mun smiled, "perfectly fine, get them out of here. Amy's already waiting."

Kas smiled at the boy and picked him up, "ready?" he asked softly, checking the road, "ok, let's go." he started running to the rendezvous point, knowing that as soon as they reached it they would be safe. "i'm Kas," he whispered as he ran, checking every road before passing it, "what's your name, kiddo?"

Kas smiled, "nice to meet the two of you." he stopped at the last road and looked out to make sure it was clear. he saw movement just in time and pulled back as a gun shot cut through the night, the bullet hitting the wall near where his head had been. "s**t-guard saw us." they just needed to cross this one street before reaching the meet up point. he looked around for some kind of shield, but the best thing he could find was an old trash can lid. "well-" he looked at the kid and the dog, "beats nothing. Malcom i need you to curl up as small as possible against my chest, ok? make sure nothing is sticking out. can you do that for me?"

Boss came back to his rooms, livid, followed closely by OG and Kage. "The hell do they think they are? i'll kill every last one of-" he stopped when he looked at the droid and saw just him and the unconscious red head. "where is the boy?" he asked softly, his voice crackling with danger.

Kage bent down to pick up the cut collar, "lost your playmate, OG. wonder how that happened-" he looked at the droid with raised eyebrow, smiling since he knew someone was going to be punished for this and he was the one Boss turned to for that sort of thing. he did love a good punishment.

Kas smiled, "good, you're doing great." he held up the trash can lid and ducked behind it as much as possible before running out and across the street. the dog was doing it's job, but some of the bullets still hit the lid. Kas let out a tiny gasp of pain as one grazed his side, but he reached the building and whistled for the dog. "come on, boy!" he dropped the lid and ran full pelt to the meeting point, a former parking lot. inside was an ancient car that had been repaired and reformed to run off of solar energy. they didn't go as fast as the cars were originally made to, but they were faster than humans and most animals. the door was opened for them and Kas handed Malcom inside as gun fire started again, the shooters having reached the street they were on. "in, dog!" Kas yelled as he grabbed the mutt and threw it inside, jumping in after. the driver hit the accelerator and they shot out of the lot, heading for the base. "damn-you ok, kid?"

Boss was losing his temper, fast. "fine," he said softly, "the boy won't be hurt so long as he can be useful." he snapped his fingers and Kage dropped a pile of metal in front of the sleeping boy, "this was left alone with a note that said if we could get it running we might actually win." he looked ready to kill just saying the words, "if you and your boy can get it to work, then we will leave him alone. if not, i'll give him to Kage. OG give him the shot." they had a drug they used when fighting. it hyped them up and made it near impossible to feel pain. it would wake up the boy and get him working, for now at least.

Kas hugged Malcom closely, "you were so brave! good job, Malcom." he tussled the boy's hair before petting the dog, "right, let's get you boys home." he met the eyes of their gunman who then pointedly looked at his side where he had been shot, but he subtly shoot his head. once they got Malcom safely into Amy's care, he'd get someone to look at it, not before. "don't worry, we'll be home soon and Amy'll have something for you to eat and a nice warm bed waiting, just you see."

Kage grinned, "or i'll just shoot him up with more." he drew a knife from his boot and sliced the bindings on the whore' wrists, freeing him, but he staid crouching in front of him, watching happily.

Momo twitched when he was injected, but remained still for a long moment before gasping and shooting upright. he grew dizzy at sitting up too quickly and dropped his head to his hands, groaning. he looked up with bleary eyes and met with icy blue. a terrified whimper escaped as he remembered those eyes hovering over him while he was hurt, the same smile in place, and tried to scoot away, but his hand caught on something metal and slipped out from under him, causing him to land, hard, on the pile.

Kage chuckled and grabbed the boy's foot, causing him to cry out and try to stop himself as Kage drug him closer, leaning forward so he was hovering inches from the boy. "morning."

Momo cringed back from the man, his eye shifting to Hal and back, not wanting to look away but scared to meet those eyes. "B-build?" he looked at the pile of metal he'd slipped on and then back, "don't have my tools-"

Boss tossed the boy's bag over, "here." it landed a foot away and slid into his side with a clinking of metal. "get to work, boy, or Kage here gets to play with you."

Kage reluctantly let go of the foot, "better hurry, none of us are feeling too patient right now."

Momo licked his lips and nodded. he grabbed his bag and scrambled away, back to the pile. he started looking over the metal, but his hazy brain couldn't figure out what it was meant to be. "Hal?" he whispered, his voice shaking slightly as he looked at the android, confused and scared to get it wrong.

Momo followed the instructions with shaking hands, doing his best to make his real arm work properly despite his shoulder. he could still move his fingers and such, he just had to accomodate it. the further along they got, the more into the building process he became and for a moment, he forgot where they were and why he was putting this together, he just enjoyed the doing of it. that moment was shattered when he heard Kage's voice just inches from his ear.

Kage moved silently forward, watching over the boy's shoulder as he worked on whatever it was they had been sent. "you're good with your hands," he said softly, grinning when the boy jumped. the tool he was using slipped from whatever it was turning on and left a mark across the metal. "Tisk, tisk, don't damage the goods, boy." he put his hand on a trembling shoulder, the one that was dislocated, and squeezed tightly.

"I'm sorry-" Momo gasped, tears in his eyes as the hand pressed down and squeezed, "i'm sorry, i'm sorry," he begged over and over, trying to cringe away from the hand and failing.

"Kage," Boss warned softly and Kage's hand left the boy's shoulder. "hurry up and finish. you'd better hope that mark didn't do anything more than make it look less pretty."

Momo swallowed hard and nodded, but his right arm was all but useless now. it was harder working with only one hand, but he forced himself to continue, following Hal's instructions until the last piece was in place.

Boss looked it over, frowning, "what is it?"
