It seemed it only took a few seconds for his touch to register to the male. Once the male opened his eyes, Amir gave a haughty smirk. With his eyes open, the male looked even more delectable than before. How befitting of a little harem boy, as this male would become. After all, Amir was a Prince, soon to be a King. He would have his own harem and be happy about it, so he would start with this boy, who was so much like the one from his past. The one who had slipped through his fingers and disappeared into the night like a soul vanishing from thin air. Amir would never forget it, and how his heart had been burdened with the loss. That boy, had been perfection. Maybe that was why he still had dreams about him and his supple skin. The touches of their skin when they met had made kingdoms rise and fall. Amir had been stubborn, but had bent over backwards and jumped through hoops to ensure his happiness, and the boy had left him cold and alone in a palace of stone. Of course, the palace was opulent, as any royal should have, but the loneliness within the walls was stifling and cruel. That was why he had come searching for a companion in the first place. To quell the loneliness that seemed to follow him everywhere in the palace. An onslaught to the memories that filled the halls and danced around him when he walked them. That was his purpose, and that was why he was impatient. He needed to take this boy home to fill them. He needed to show the walls of his home that he was no longer afraid of them and that he would be facing them head on in his own way.

As the boy awoke, becoming more and more aware, he seemed startled. Amir was about to repeat his instructions when the boy exclaimed his excitement and set off to pulling clothing from the floor. It was all rather old fashioned and foreign to the prince that had very different ideals on dress code. Besides, the clothes did not look pristine. In fact, they looked worn and crumpled. That would not do. He would have to impress these things upon his new companion so that he would know what the expectations would be, given the position he was about to be in. Amir told himself it would all come in good time however, knowing it would be too much to ask the boy to conform to every one of his whims at the current moment. Instead, the Prince started for the door, all the while watching as the boy finally tugged on shorts and a shirt. The Djinn had caught the brief moments of nudity and a glimpse of the tender treasures of his new pet. He would make no remarks on them now. Not until they were at home, and this boy was given a full inspection by himself. After all, he could always send the boy back if he was dissatisfied, but for now, those beautiful blue eyes had him rather cornered. He smirked to himself, knocking on the door as a sign to the guards outside that he wished to be let out. The prince had brought no guards of his own, and not even the sliver of his soul that passed the most difficult of judgments. He had left Hanif at home, but this boy would soon meet the grumpy familiar and have to handle the judgment place upon him. Truly, it was most exciting for Amir to see what Hanif would counsel.

When the door opened he turned to look at the boy quickly. ”Boy. You shall learn my rules in time, but for now, I expect these to be followed. You will walk with me, at my side and will not run of jump, or hop. You will act like a dignified male, as you are. You shall not speak unless directly spoke to, or I will punish you. Do you understand this? Do not make me punish you so soon on. You will not like it.” Amir spoke shortly, a bit of his accent breaking through, clipping some of the words shorter as he spoke directly to the male. Of course, Amir was being rather rude. He hadn’t even bothered to give his own name, or ask the boy’s, but they would be getting to know each other soon enough. Amir was being an old fidgety man and he knew it, however there were always eyes on him, and he would not expect any less than the behaviors he had just said. With that, he turned and made a flourish with his hand for the boy to catch up and follow as he had been bidden. With a smirk, the Djinn made his way slowly down the stairs and back into the Mistress’s office, pulling the boy in behind him as he did the paperwork, assuring the woman that he needed no escort, and that he would prefer if her guards did not touch his new pet. After all, the fun would begin as soon as they were home, and he wouldn’t have anyone spoiling it for now. It would be grand once they were home. Amir would have so much fun being less proper with his new companion. He could only just contain his excitement. The new dawn would be coming, and this boy would be the sun.

Truly, the man was anything but enthused about picking out a companion. Why couldn’t he have just had a hound? After all, he’d had many lined up for him by his Master. It wasn’t that he could not have the females. It was that he could not keep them. When their fertility year came to be in place, and another impregnated them, the females were stolen from him. Most were glad to get away of course, but he was not happy about them escaping. Not when he wanted them for his own. But he would not give them children. He did not want to father any children. Nor did he want any of the bitches he had to be distracted with the caring of children. This led him to an almost impossible problem. How could he have a female as a companion when they couldn’t escape him? The answer was one that came to him simply. A slave. He could simply obtain a companion for himself that no one could take away. They would be his own personal property and therefore not subject to any of the hound laws, or those of his Masters. The individual, or individuals he selected would be solely his to do with as he pleased. The idea satisfied what he wanted out of a companion. With that, he had begun to think of ideal traits that he would want out of a companion, with the female gender being the most vital. The rest, he figured were mainly negotiable as long as his selection had a disposition he could work with. He’d train them to be a perfect companion. It’d be like a game, just what he had gone through, and that was one of the elements that excited him the most. When he was done, he’d have perfection without anyone to take away his prize.

When he first stood before the Pallas Estate, he was unimpressed. He much preferred darkened castles, as they held more grandeur and beauty. This estate was far too sunny and bright for his tastes, but he supposed it was meant to suit a wide variety of tastes, rather than just shady characters such as himself. Besides, the establishment was well-known for having high quality. The Mistress running the estate must have preferred sunny places to the dark one he was used to. As he stepped inside and looked around, he strode between guards, pushing past them with ease. Stepping into the office of the Mistress, he smirked cockily, asking what she had for females, biting back the ideal of asking her if she was for sale. He wondered if he had let the words fly, what would happen, but decided it was better for his own business if he refrained. When he was handed a book with pictures and basic traits and qualities of those at the establishment, Akan frowned deeply. There were only two canines in the entire place. Only one was female. And neither seemed to pose any of the traits he wanted. That was very unfortunate. A broken woman was no good to him. Neither was a male. He scowled, beginning to flip through the other females within the estate. Many possessed collars that were velvet. Others didn’t seem to be anything special, or were marked to show someone was in the room currently perusing. Akan frowned, seeing only a few candidates that would make anything worth while, and one had been marked to be moved to the basement, which was explained to be a punishment holding. With a smrk, Akan nodded, and headed down towards the basement.

His selection was not a wolf, or canine, but a vampire. It was strange, as Akan hated the idea of a vampire. He had wanted a hound. And still wanted a hound, but this vampire at the very least semed intriguing. Perhaps he could speak with one of his masters about obtaining potions that would change her form. A vampiric wolf would be interesting, would it not? But the woman seemed to possess the right collars and charms. She also had silver hair, something that he had coveted in one of the hounds he had been hunting while at the compound. She had been a beauty. Silver hair, pale skin, eyes the color of crystals. Her body had been supple and young, ready for her year of fertility. He had not been the only one with eyes upon her. There had been many others. She was one to be coveted. But she had gone missing, occupied by some master, or staying somewhere the reach of the compound could not pull her back. Of course, she was helpless to refuse the call of masters, but he was not one and could not so easily pull her back, even though he was looking for her. Yet, her year would be coming up soon, and he would hunt her if he had time and was not satisfied with his purchase. She wouldn’t be able to escape him then, by the right of hound law, she woud be his if he impregnated her. Maybe he would let her have the pup and then kill it before her eyes, just to prove who she belonged to. Maybe he would do it even if he was happy with his purchase. After all, the more the merrier, right? His silver haired hound would be fodder for this strange vampire if he liked her well enough. And that was two birds with one stone.

When he reached the door, he stood before it, hearing growls and pacing form beyond the door. He smiled, picking up on the bits of rage coming through the door. Oh, this female was agitated, and he was excited. Pushing the door open, he looked at the silver haired female, assessing her with a smirk. ”Don’t stop pacing on my account. I’m sure you had a great though brewing. Maybe an escape? How unfortunate.” He smirked, watching her with amusement. Would she continue? She held her youth well, looking like a grumpy child that had been locked away on time out. And that must have been exactly what was happening, right? She was down here because she was being punished for some transgression. He wondered if she would tell him why, or if she would just start on some tirade. Maybe she’d just sit there quietly, too stunned to speak, but he doubted it. This one had a voice and she was ready to spew daggers with it. All he had to do was sit back and enjoy the show as it spilled before him. He would definitely change her perspective on enslavement and captivity when he took her to his compound. And even more so if he took her to the main hound compound. Maybe he’d leave her there for a few days to see how she liked being treated in the ways of his people. It’s surely be life changing, wouldn’t it? Maybe his master would take an interest in experimenting on her. He wasn’t sure yet, but the possibilities were starting to unfold to his eyes, creating a giddy sense of joy. He’d have fun with this girl, or so he hoped.

The ground was green and lush, the long blads of glass coated her, brushing against her in tickling sweeps. The air was clear, as was the sky. Soft white clouds blew by, but there was no shadows on the sun, and no sign of rain or storm. She rushed through the grass, joy coursing through her body as she ran, feeling fee. Her thoughts were clear and pristine, shouting her joy as she made a mad dash through the long grass. She was heading for the lake, which sparkled dazzling prismatic light off into the sky like a little piece of heaven. The mountains in the distant were purple and little sprouts of wild flowers bloomed here in there, making a picture perfect scene. This was her piece of heaven. This was her place. Her secret stretch of land that no one knew about. Maybe one day she would share it with someone special, but she had yet to meet the person that could make her think such thoughts. She was free now, running and exclaiming her joy to the world around her, disturbing the serenity only with happy sounds of freedom. She pushed forward, cresting over a hill and slid gently to the water’s edge, looking into the lake and taking in her reflection. Blue green eyes stared back, surrounded by red brown and ochre fur. Her muzzle reached down gently, touching the water, feeling it’s cool grip. She darted her tongue out to taste the sweet water. It quelled the thirst she’d had as if it were the last thing on earth she could drink. She barked happily at the reflection, wagging her tail gently in the cool breeze that blew in. And just as she was about to dash off, she felt the earth shake beneath her paws. She looked around, trying to find the source of the shakes. The skies had gone dark and the world around her began to break into pieces. Before she knew it she’d lost her footing and was falling into the lake, swirling deeper and deeper into the suddenly violent vortex. She howled, crying out for anyone that could hear her, reaching with paws as she tried to scrabble along the bank, but she was being pulled deeper and deeper into the abyss that was trying to devour her. She couldn’t’ breath, she was suffocating. She made one more futile reach…

When she hit the floor she woke up gasping. The sheets of the bed had wrapped around her body, constricting her chest. She was sweating profusely as her eyes scanned the dim room. Her heart raced painfully in her chest, as if by beating hard and fast enough, it would escape her. She put her hand to her chest, kicking the sheets off of her. Sitting still, she calmed herself down and pushed stray brown hair from her face. The opulence of the room was still stifling. She hadn’t been here long, but she didn’t need to be. She didn’t like being trapped in a room with so much grandeur. It made her nervous, and she was already skittish. When the slavers had found her, after the men’s usage of her, she’d been almost feral in her fear. The only reason she hadn’t been, was that she was broken. Utterly and completely. When they had brought her to this estate, she’d had to go through examination, as she was certain every other slave here had to go through. When they touched her, she flinched and whimpered. Even when the hands were kind, she flinched and shied away from them, terrified of what they could to do her. She’d been put in her room after they’d confirmed she had no open injuries to deal with, and that was where she’d been since. The only addition they’d made was the uncomfortable collar they had strung around her neck. It was bulky and problematic, as it often got in the way, but she wore it simply without protest. Closing her eyes, she shook away the terrible memories and stood up, shakily. She grabbed the edge of the nightstand and used it to help her towards the bathroom. Once she was inside she locked the door. There would be no more surprises.

She started the shower once she was inside, turning it on as hot as she could stand before stepping under the spray and letting the water run over her body, cleansing her from her nightmare. It had been so good, until the world had started falling apart. She couldn’t reach her wolf any longer, but she wanted to. She wanted to escape and go run wild and free in the woods by herself, but she couldn’t escape the estate, and she was safer within its walls than on the outside. She shook her head, helping to guide the water over her aching muscles and skin, soaping her body up so she would be clean. Only after she’d run the water cold did she venture out of the shower, wrapping a towel tightly around her body. She opened the bathroom door, checking to make sure no one was in the room, before leaving the bathroom and heading for the small dresser in the corner. She pulled on some pants and a shirt, clothing herself so there would be no surprise attacks from anyone who venture in. If she had clothes on, they would have to take them off because they could abuse her poor body. She ran fingers through her long hair, drying it off with the towel before giving a sigh. She was back to where she had been an hour ago. Alone and bored in the room. Only this time, she wasn’t panicking. Instead, she ran her fingers over the comforter and stared up at the ceiling Would anyone come and get her, or would she sit in wait forever in this estate? She wasn’t certain but she didn’t want to have eternity to figure it out. She wanted to run.

Moving from the bed, she picked herself up and went to the window, getting a nice glimpse of the back of the estate. There was a sprawling lawn that ran into woods. What she would give to be out of this house and out there running. She would even come back if they granted her the freedom. Maybe is she pleaded with the Mistress, she could stay at the Estate and work as some kind of receptionist, and run around on the back lawn as long as she came back. She wouldn’t go far, and she’d come right back. She could even work in the kitchen, cooking meals and such for the rest of the slaves here. She’d be a hard worker, and there would be no complaints. Anything that would let her out of the stifling room. She needed to shift and get in touch with her wolf again, and it would make her less stir crazy. But even as she thought of all these grand possibilities, she knew they would be impossible. The world did not work that way, much less, the estate did not. Even if she wished it could, it would not be as such. She gave and gentle sigh and propped her elbow on the sill of the window, gazing out longingly at the lawn. Surely someone would come and save her from her prison sooner or later right? She tucked her legs under her, playing with the hem of her longer shirt, smoothing it out so there would be no extra wrinkles. Maybe one day, someone would take her home and actually care about her, unlike those in her past. She would be good. A good housewife, or maid, or whatever was needed, as long as she was. That’s all she wanted. To be needed by another.

Raising an eyebrow at her words, Roland went still in front of her, his arms clasped behind his back. Seeing her hair move, he stopped himself just in time from reaching forward and touching it to see how soft it was. Nahi had the perfect body he was looking for and the incubus could find his darker side stirring, gaining more interest in the woman in front of him, wanting to take her as his own. He'd never laid claim to anyone specific, flitting from one woman to another like his species tended to do, but this one, he wanted to claim Nahi and felt a pang of jealousy even thinking about someone else touching her. Still....he would give her the choice to leave with him or not, not wanting to force her into something she would be unhappy with. He noticed whenever he fed that the sexual energies of confident and happy women had the best and most prolonged taste.

He kept silent, allowing her to finish her rant about the collar before speaking himself. "That collar negates any magical abilities you would have so no, I'm not really sure what you're completely capable of even after reading your file, but judging on your nature and history I assume you're very old and very cunning so right now I'm going to keep the collar on you until I trust you enough to remove it, so yes, these will be a chance that I'll take it off and the more you obey me and be a good slave, the sooner I'll take it off...it may be a week, it may be never." He leaned forward slightly. "My offer is, show me that you're worthy of taking it off and I will...understand?" Roland looked at her expectantly. He was the one calling the shots here, not her and having Nahi demanding the collar off after a week annoyed him a little. She would need to learn that he was not someone to mess with.

"You are going to follow my terms. I promise you though that if you're good, I'll be more lenient. I don't punish you or make you do things for my pleasure, behind every punishment and discomfort is disobedience in one form or another." He stated simply. Roland never felt pleasure in punishing or hurting someone for his amusement, thinking those masters who did do that despicable. Surprisingly for an incubus, he wasn't as manipulative. Perhaps spending so much time in the human world and developing their customs changed him.

Turning his head towards the door, he looked at it then back at her, raising a questioning eyebrow. He would much rather Nahi accompany him home but if she refused, he would just move on to one of the other choices he had found in the files he went through. The incubus was giving her the choice to decide whether or not to come. "I can promise you a carefree and easy life as long as you obey me with lots of room and the option to go outside and explore my vast property....that, or I can move on and you can wait for the next suitor to come your way, possibly not as nice as me."

Hearing him say he wasn't going to take the collar off, Nahi frowned at him and obviously was not the happiest female in the Hotel right at the moment. She gave him a dirty look, but still listened closely as he spoke. He was right about the fact that she was old and cunning, but she was telling the truth that she wasn't dangerous. Otherwise she would have been wearing a collar that was heavier than velvet. Thinking he was a paranoid idiot, the woman rolled the thought over in her mind. Then again, it wasn't as if he was giving her much time to even think, going over to the door as if he was going to leave.

The collar versus a master that was really going to piss her off.

It wasn't much of a choice and she grudgingly took a few steps towards him and the door both. "Fine. I'll go with you and you had better not make me wear this thing constantly, or I'll just leave," Nahi told him, crossing her arms under her breasts as she glared up at him. The last thing she wanted to do was be a 'good pet', but if she had to be, then so be it. She'd show him who was a 'good slave' and then he'd be begging to get rid of her by the time she was through with him, incubus or not. Huffing a bit, she looked from the man to the door pointedly. "Well? Are we going?"

It wasn't the ideal situation, but it was better than anything else so far. And probably better than anything she would get from another master, Nahi was sure of that much. Mostly. At least she could do what she wanted and maybe he wouldn't be too bossy. It was rare she ran into someone older and she was admittedly curious about him and his experiences in this human world of his. She wanted to find out what he learned, what he thought of humans, and what he had done in it other than sell porn to people. That didn't appeal to her at all, really. But beggers couldn't be choosers and she hated being the former rather than the latter. Why she couldn't have just stayed in her happy place for the rest of eternity, Nahi didn't know and would grump about it plenty.

"Or do you not want me now?" she asked him, almost challenging him, raising her eyebrow a bit. As if. He seemed set on taking her and she wasn't going to complain too much. Maybe.

The dance of flames and shadows in the street
Make poetry nobody's ever heard
The weight of loneliness stands on your feet
The cage already there around the bird

i
Hearing soft footsteps outside, Aceline slowed her pacing slightly, glaring hatefully at the door. Hardly anyone came down here for the problem slaves and it sounded like whoever it was had stopped in front of her door. Growling, she narrowed her eyes, wishing she could kill with her gaze right through the closed door. Maybe then they would leave her alone. Without thinking, Aceline moved so the bed was between her and whoever was about to enter. Crouching low, she tensed her body, still pacing like a caged animal, her eyes never leaving the door. Her dress she still wore was dirty and torn in a few places, the original scarlet color a bit dulled from the dirt that clung to it. When it finally opened, the girl had a fleeting thought of bolting past whoever was about to enter, try and incapacitate the guards before figuring out a way to take off the collar latched tightly around her throat. She had a suspicion it would prevent her from leaving the property entirely.

Yet again, she cursed silently at being caught and vowed never to become too comfortable or drop her guard again. The girl had been careless when she'd followed after her target, thinking he was just another civilian...until he turned around, a dart gun ready with a knock out poison on the tips of the darts. She had barely ducked in time before even more came out, two trying to grab her. That had been a mistake on their part and she'd quickly defended herself, snapping their necks easily...but that had given the first time to shoot another dart, hitting her arm. She felt a little woozy, though had still fought off most of the slavers. It had taken a blow to the head and at least five darts before she'd gotten overpowered...the next thing she knew, she woke up in the room they normally had her in upstairs and had tried every second of every day since then scheming up ways to escape and take revenge on those who had captured her. Aceline was spitting mad, she'd never felt this cornered before.

The male who entered the room held himself in a way she knew he was full of himself, arrogant and used to ordering others around. Well he had a big surprise coming from her. Showing off her teeth, her ruby red eyes flashed dangerously as she tossed her hair behind her shoulders. Too bad the damned collar wouldn't allow her teeth to grow their full length or she would have ripped out his throat without a second thought by now.
"You need to hold your tongue boy." She hissed out, going still and facing him. She assumed he was younger than her, putting emphasis on boy to see just how prideful he was."Turn right around and find someone else before I decide to paralyze you like the last one who tried to touch me." She snapped. The girl barely held herself back from attacking him right there, her body shaking with the effort.

She knew she was a beauty and so many men had tried to take her home with them, but she'd shown them that her bite was far worse and definitely not worth her looks for them to try and control her. She'd maimed a few, using her strength to break limbs and legs and they had demanded Aceline be put down, but the mistress, the whore that she was had refused, apparently thinking there was someone out there who could tame her. She hated the woman for neither letting her go or killing her like she'd been trying to provoke, preferring that cold nothingness to being stuck in a cage with a collar the rest of her miserable life.
"I will sooner make your life as miserable as I can so you end your pitiful existence unless I get to you first!"
She clenched her teeth. The girl was hungry, having refused to eat or drink anything for the last week and Aceline could smell him. He definitely wasn't human and he smelled like something that preferred to live in darkness and violence. Those were the ones she usually brought down easily, using their anger against them and provoking them to attack her without thinking. She was going to use this same exact method on the male in front of her. He seemed younger than some of the others she'd dealt with so she assumed he would be easier to insult.

The little fox was sitting in the middle of his bed, looking outside of his little window, trying to block out all of the angry roars and cries of protest. Closing his eyes for a few moments, the little male inhaled a deep breath as his ears fell flat against his head. All he had to do was block out all of the noises and just concentrate on the pretty world outside of the window! Opening mismatched eyes, the little fox smiled gently as he watched a bird pick at the ground, trying to find food for its awaiting chicks. One would wonder why such a small, submissive slave would be hidden away in the basement with all the other dangerous, disobedient slaves. Well... it was because the little male pleaded with the Mistress to put him there. The rooms upstairs were large and beautiful. Rooms that were made for masters to sleep in, not lowly little slaves. Just staying inside of the room made the fox feel panicked and caused him to have anxiety attacks, so the Mistress had no choice but to listen to the slave's wishes. Of course she came to check on him periodically or when she had the time, trying to talk him out of being in the basement, but no matter how hard she tried to change his mind, he refused and smiled politely before returning to his bed. Being in a basement was something that he was used to. All his other previous masters had made him sleep down in one, and this one had a rather comfortable bed inside of a sleeping bag or a cot. This was almost like a paradise compared to what he was used to.

Being in his own little world, the fox didn't hear the door to his room open or close, but his ears did twitch at the noise. The hair on the back of his neck started to stand on ends as the large male approached him quietly. When the strong hand quickly gripped his arm, the small male jumped and let out a shocked gasp as his eyes widened and looked up at the face of the man inspecting him. Mismatched eyes looked the man's face over as his ears stood straight up causing the piercings to jingle softly. His heart started to thump loudly against his chest as his breaths were short and quick. Next time he'd make sure not to tune everything out... he didn't really like being snuck up on like that, so the fox made a mental note to note let it happen again. his eyes dipped down to study the smirk playing on the man's lips as he tried to decipher what that "hmph" noise meant. Was that a good or bad thing? Did it mean that the man found something he liked... or something that he didn't like? Well... the last note could be a very high possibility... All the other masters found something wrong with him... he was just a small, insignificant creature to them. Dirty is what the called him... However that wasn't the issue right now! He was trying to figure out what he wanted. Was this man going to be his new master?

When his arm was let go, the little fox stumbled back a few steps, and averted his gaze, looking down at his feet as he pulled down the front of his dress. A dark blush started to appear on his cheeks as he felt the man's eyes roam across his body. Well... that was something he wasn't used to... No one studied him as closely as the man was doing. Did that mean he really was interested in taking him home with him? Peeking up at him and then back down, he wondered why he would want a slave. Maybe he just wanted a house keeper. If that was the case then he would be good at that! He knew how to clean... and how to let people play with him as a doll... but that was really all the skills that the fox possessed. Looking up at him when he started talking, the little fox only nodded his head and remained quiet. Swallowing thickly, he would make sure to not try to make this man angry. He seemed like he would punish him severely if he didn't obey orders, so the fox would make sure that he would listen to all of his commands. There was no need to get hurt if he could avoid it. As soon as the door opened to his room, he moved closer to the man who towered over him, but made sure to keep some space between them. He didn't want to touch and make him dirty. It wasn't like the fox was unclean, seeing as he took a bath a few hours before the man entered his room, but slaves didn't have the right to touch their masters. Jumping at the sounds of the other slaves fighting against their doors, the fox moved a bit closer to the man, but made sure to move away again once the made it back upstairs.

The fox was sure that the man who wold be his new master would be cold and uncaring, but he seemed to have an interest in his appearance. Maybe that would mean he would be better cared for than in the past? Maybe this time... he could be happy with this man. Even if he did tower over him and scare him...

Opting to ignore Zephyr’s almost identical response instead of carrying on a now pointless conversation, Leia instead chose to stare at Zephyr with narrowed eyes while she worked on chewing her bottom lip. It wasn’t a habit she was proud of, but she had picked it up from Nel. Honestly, you could always tell when the gears were turning in her brother’s head (as the human expression went), by the look on the face. He was much too expressive, he gave everything away. He used to be a little better at hiding things too, so Leia often wondered how he could have possible regressed in that matter. Maybe he only showed such blatant expressionism to her, which was why she noticed it. He certainly used to hide a lot of things from her, and get annoyed at her much easier when they had first met. It made her wonder whether he had changed that simply because he trusted her much more than he probably did at the start, or if he felt responsible for balancing the evil acts that humans inflicted upon her with companionship. Or was it an aftereffect of staying around humans so much? Humans that she found so hard to read and understand, despite her best efforts. Would he still be the same if the events of their past had not happened? Would she? None of these were questions she could answer, although she sometimes felt as though she should be able to, as though things had been different in another life-time. That was impossible though, she was immortal, she had no other lifetimes. Just this one. This never-ending painful life, which she often felt to have no control over.

She couldn’t help but shake her head at Zephyr’s words once more, Leia leaned back against the wall and sighed, ”Really? Since when is a question an assumption? Are you sure you’re speaking the same language as me?” shrugging, she cut off that thread of conversation, as the elf in front of her didn’t seem to realize that all that assumption-making he kept accusing her of? He was doing the exact same thing; trying to manipulate her words to make it sound like she had said and meant things that she hadn’t in the slightest. To be honest, he wasn’t that great at it. All he was really doing was over-extending simple things she said and making a big deal out of them as though they mattered, trying to find important things where there were none. Sure, she made mistakes in understanding people’s words and intentions, but at least she could admit that that was so (maybe not to their face, but admit it all the same), was he so egotistical that he thought everything he said was right? Oh well, it really didn’t have anything to do with her, because if he chose to make assumptions about her that proved to be wrong, well then it wasn’t really any trouble to her, now was it?

When Zephyr suddenly accused her of being naïve, Leia’s face fell to a dead-pan expression. Perhaps if she had known that he was talking about her opinion on chaos, she might have understood where the assumption was coming from, even if it was not strictly true, after all, people have different views on chaos, and understood it as different things, especially people from different backgrounds. Unfortunately, without this classification, she could only understand his words as a point to her naivety in general, Letting out a long draw of breath, she tilted her head slightly to the side, her expression unchanging as she considered whether or not to reply to her words. ”Are you sure you understand the definition of your words?” she finally settled with, straightening herself, ”Because unless you wish to extrapolate into exactly how you’ve come upon this ‘assessment’ of me, then I shall simply assure you that I have experienced much more than you can ever hope to in your life. In several of your life-times for that matter.”

”Oh I know what humans do when they run into things they don’t understand. I know all too well,” she adjusted her gaze to focus on her covered arm for a brief moment before continuing to stare past it at the elf across the room. ”but you cannot guarantee that the knowledge of magic would drive humans to a breaking point. After all, in days long past, humans used to be quite in touch with the magical world. It seems to me as though the problem lies in the assumption that magic and science cannot co-exist. Of course, if you suddenly revealed magic now, I would not deny that humans would probably ruin themselves, and possibly the world in the process, but that says nothing for something done at a slow, steady pace. Humans are not long-lived after all, and they are capable of changing quickly. Concealment is not always the best option, as concealed things risk fading away.”

She completely ignored the dates and locations that he mentioned. They meant nothing to her after all. If he was trying to impress her or show example of his company’s successfulness, then it failed. None of those places were familiar to her after all, so she had no way of knowing what had supposedly happened there, or if they were even real places.

She didn’t respond to his sarcastic jaunt, preferring not to mention out-loud her reasons for giving the elf a choice of whether or not to join her. In truth, although she had been mostly desensitized to the nature of slavery (it happened in her homeland as well, although it was mainly among the rich and powerful, almost a myth whispered in the wind of what happens to orphans caught off the street, or of parents selling their extra children to make money), she still had no intention of forcing somebody to leave their home behind. One of the reasons she had chosen the elf is because it had seemed to her that he had nothing to lose, nothing waiting for him in this world. He seemed awfully attached to this company of his, but she suspected that he had been left behind by them, although she wasn’t sure if he saw it too. Either way, she would leave the final decision to him. She watched as he stood, probably in thought, blowing putrid smoke. It made her thankful of the distance between them, although she wouldn’t complain of his habits now. He might very well wish to kick the habit when he saw the condition of the city where she and Nel made their home. When he made his decision, she nodded once, and then, approaching him cautiously, fastened the collar around his neck. After that, all that was left was to make her way to the owner’s office and pay, and then out to the car to wait for her brother to finish his own selection.

                                                - - - - -

After finishing his large tirade in answer to the mermaid’s many questions, Nel waited in nervous silence to hear her response. He was worried what might happen if his sister finished before him, which, considering her rather analytical way of going about this (which, to be honest, would probably be more what you expected from the inventor instead), was very likely to happen. But even more so, he was nervous because he liked this mermaid. Sure she wasn’t the happiest person out there, and there was definitely the chance of them getting into disagreements, she was refreshingly honest with herself, and with him. He could see such an attitude being very helpful to his work to be honest, because even though she might not understand the theory behind half the stuff that he did, she’d definitely be able to point out the obviously wrong thing that might have escaped his notice. And she probably wouldn’t hesitate to say so either, judging by the way their conversation had gone so far. He could definitely see her getting into fights with his sister, especially since she would probably be in their garden a lot, which was the one spot in their house that Leia actually cared about, but even if his sister didn’t like her (because his sister rarely genuinely liked anyone), he wasn’t worried about them trying to kill each other or something. Selena didn’t seem to be too confrontational, so he didn’t think there’d be too much of a problem if Leia opted to ignore the mermaid, as she often did with everyone else. Really, the biggest worry would be if Selena took the bait to his sister’s habit of riling people up. But that bridge could always be burned when they got to it.

As he waited for an answer, he wondered briefly what kind of companion his sister could be getting. He heavily expected her to find the most magicaly-laden person in this place, but knowing her (and that she was probably mostly doing this to humor her), she was also very likely to find the person whom she could anger the easiest, who pissed her off the most, or a combination of the two. Hopefully someday his sister would learn to stop defaulting to confrontation or flat out disregard when meeting new people, but given their history, he didn’t really think it would be sometime soon.

He watched as she rose to her feet, and as she began to speak, Nel’s nervous gaze melted into a smile. ”Awesome!” he giggled, his voice heavy with enthusiasm, before the smile faded to twisted grimace. ”The rules of this place are stupid” he pulled the leash out of his pocket, ”But I think we have to do this in order to even leave… I promise it’ll come off as soon as we get home though!”

To be perfectly honest, he wanted to take the rather offending thing off as soon as they were out in the car, but he still didn’t fully understand the rules of this place, so he was a little worried about doing something wrong. He knew his sister would never forgive him if they got stuck here. It was easier in the long run to wait until they got home where things made sense (or at least more of it).

Nel waited patiently for Selena to prepare what she needed, and after the leash had been clipped onto her collar, he made his way back down to the owner’s office, being sure to set a comfortable pace for Selena, seeing as the height difference alone probably didn’t make things easy. After he had paid, he inquired as to his sister, and was (somewhat) please to hear that she was already outside. With a grin on his face, he led the way down to their car, which resembled more of a Victorian era four-seater, as opposed to any sort of modern-day vehicle. Leia had already claimed the back seat for herself and her companion and was seated behind the driver’s seat, staring nonchalantly out the window, the leash of her slave – a blonde-haired elf – clutched in her right hand. She didn’t bother to look up even as her brother opened the door to the driver’s side and climbed in. ”Oh good,” she grumbled, ”You’re back. Now let’s kindly get the ******** out of here.”

Staring up at the large mansion before her, Jia wondered if she was doing the right thing. Shuffling a little in her nude shoes, her dress brushing her legs, the blue-haired woman took in a deep breath and headed in. Yes, this was the right course of action. It took most of the guess work out of hiring someone out of the paper, or waiting for background checks to be cleared. Time was definitely of the essence, and while walking into the beautiful place was terribly nerve-wracking, it was possibly the best thing she could do for herself. Hallway after hallway, she was brought to a room with the Mistress of the Manor inside. Finding that speaking about her dilemma and what she required was lifting a weight off her chest, it took a few moments of deliberation and Jia-Li saying what she didn't want (a being that hated water was a no-go, and one that knew the joys of flight was a must). Leaving the room after some time with an incredibly short list, the Cloud Serpent felt like she wasn't going to get anywhere at all today and some nerves came bubbling to the surface. If she left alone, would he come after her tonight? And if not tonight... When? Shuddering at the thought of returning home alone, Jia-Li decided to spend as much time with the beings on the list and not jump into any snap decisions.

Unfortunately thing weren't going too well for Jia-Li after two hours at the manor. Out of the five names on the list, the four she'd seen had been... Not what she wanted. They seemed strong, but they also seemed to either be too pretty, too concerned with what she wanted, or a creature that couldn't handle a Manticore. Sighing and rubbing her face, the little asian looked at the last name on the list; he'd been a last resort, a bit of a long-shot in case the others weren't right. He's dangerous. She was warned. A bit of a hot head. Chewing her bottom lip, she'd underlined a specific detail herself - he was a dragon. Taking in a deep breath, Jia-Li asked a guard to show her to his room, a tremor in her voice. Bad temper she could deal with, but the chain collar? Why had he been upgraded from leather? What had he done? These were all worries the brown-eyed girl had and once they reached the door where the dragon was located, Jia-Li had to take a moment. Was she really this desperate? Rubbing a cigarette burn mark on the inside of her forearm, a stubborn frown set itself on her face. Yes, she was this desperate.

Knocking on the door, she waited, before the guard interjected. "Pardon me Ma'am, if you wanted to go in I could just let ya in." And without waiting, the guard unlocked the door and allowed Jia-Li to make up her mind. Opening the door, Jia-Li called out. "Pardon the intrusion." Old habits die hard, it turned out. It was hard for the woman to push her habits from her upbringing aside - you had to be polite as an Ambassador's daughter. Stepping in, a hand resting on the door edge, Jia-Li let out a slow, calming breath. "Kael? Kael Fáfnir?" Stepping further into the room, the guard closing the door behind her made Jia jump just a tad (nervousness was a b***h). Focussing on her breathing, feeling very dumb for realising that she was intending on buying a living, breathing being similar to herself, Jia-Li clasped her hands in front of her dress. "I've been told you have the skills to help me out." Fiddling with the skirt of her dress, Jia decided honesty was best. "How much do you know about dealing with Manticores?"

Bastet blinked slightly at Linnae, her eyes narrowing slightly as she tried to determine if the girl was being facetious, and was slightly surprised to find that she was being sincere. That mollified the cat goddess, and she said with a sniff, "Thank you. I do try to make them the best. Some people are just so... rude. They don't appreciate all that I do for them."

Looking the girl up and down one last time, envisioning how she might look dressed "properly" and seeing the potential, Bastet nodded decisively and said, "Yes, you will do very nicely." The cat goddess then swiftly turned her attention to Thomas, her blue eyes narrowing slightly as she said a little sharply, "You, on the other hand... You will behave yourself. Do not test my patience. You will not like the results. You can trust me on that, if nothing else."

The boy might feel safe, being in spirit form, but she was a goddess, after all. She did not have the limitations that mortals had in what she could do. She could completely destroy him if she so desired. Lucky for him, that was something she was reluctant to do, even if it was just because she knew it would upset the girl greatly. There were other things she could do, though... And like she had said, he probably wouldn't like the results.

Not waiting for a response, Bastet turned and headed toward the door, calling back, "Come along now. There is much to be done, and so little time to do it." Leading the way, the cat goddess continued talking, "Now, the first thing we need to do is go shopping and get you something... more suitable to wear. I think you would look best in greens or reds... They would complement the colors of your eyes very nicely. You will also need something formal to wear... I will be hosting a charity event at my abode tomorrow night, so I expect you to attend. Hold on a second..."

Bastet paid for the girl without any problems, turning around to continue her speech, "Now, what do you think of..." The cat goddess trailed off as she came to a complete stop at the door, staring out the windows that showed that it was still raining outside. After a very long moment of silence, she said, "On second thought, I think I'll stay here." Yeah, that sounded much better than going out... there. Where it was WET! Yep, that was what she was going to do. She wasn't going to budge unless she was dragged out of the door.

Lydia sat in the farthest corner of her room, Just staring across the room not really looking at anything just being lost in her mind. Drake was quiet at the moment, in fact not being present at all. She was just sitting listening to the soft, weak Rumble of her dragon in her head as she waited for something to happen. She was accustomed to waiting, having been forced to wait most of the seven hundred odd years that she had been alive. She curled up tighter as she remembered grueling details from the time that she was first imprisoned.
She was huddled in a corner with her sisters listening to the little ones cry out as anguished screams drifted in from the window and her mothers arms wrapped around them, whispering gentle reassurances in their ears as her brothers stood im front of them with our father all of their swords drawn. The clanging of swords could be heard outside of the door as their servants fell to the enemy, a creeping lake of blood sliding under the door showing that the last one had been killed. It was quiet for a moment as and only the quiet sobs of her sisters could be heard as all of the other people in the room had stopped breathing. Then the door was pushed open heavily, swinging round to bang against the wall. Her father and brothers tried valiantly to fend them off but there were too many. She watched as her father had took a sword to the throat, blood spilling out of his mouth as the attacker let his sword go, leaving it embedded as the life seeped out of him with his blood. Her Eldest brother let out a cry of agony as his hand was cut off and then was run through the heart. Her last brother was out of her sight when he met his demise heard the clang of his sword and the thud of his body as they both hit the ground. Suddenly her mother jerked and her eyes widened and my sister beside me gave a cry as the sword that impaled my mother drove between her breast as well. As her mother slumped away from her she saw the cruel eyes looking at her and heard the cruel voice "Take that one." Rough hand grabbed her as She heard the cries of her sisters be cut off abruptly ---
Lydia gave a start as she heard people outside of her room and watched the door silently as she wondered vaguely if someone was going to enter her room. Seeing the plates that were piled up in the corner untouched, her dragon shifted wanting to eat it but afraid to because of the harsh negative reactions that her body had to trying to digest food. She took her focus off of the plates and place it back on the door, waiting.

The soft sound of breathing filled the room as a silver haired boy wrapped himself around a bunny shaped doll. It horridly put together and no child would have wanted that toy but he didn't seem to care. Kau buried his face in the plush animal, taking in it's scent slowly as if it's smell would be consumed into nothing if he breathed too much of it in at once. He just laid on the huge bed and stayed still. If one were to watch him they would think that he was asleep. But the boy was wide awake now and laid in bed stricken with confusion and panick. His heart beat against his ribs so hard that his chest ached.

Where was he? Where did everyone go? He couldn't see his surroundings but he knew this place wasn't his bedroom. Kau didn't recognize the scent. The bed felt different... The room felt smaller. Everything felt wrong. The only scent he did recognize was his own, with a hint of his master's, clinging to his doll. The man wasn't here, which was strange because any time Kau was in bed, his master was with him as well. There was no way he was at home. Kau was alone in an unfamiliar place.

Feeling defeated by the lack of information his senses could collect, Kau lifted his head from his doll and sniffed at the air. There really was no other familiar scent than his own and his doll's. As Kau pushed on the bed to sit up, a sudden pang of pain from the back of his head had him whimpering softly. His fingers brushed against his scalp until they were running over a large bump, making Kau wince and whimper once again. The boy crawled out of bed once he recovered. Literally. He got on his hands and knees and crawled out of bed, leaving the stuffed rabbit behind. He would have carried it in his mouth if it weren't for the gag in between his teeth.

Kau explored the room, sniffing any pawing at objects. Despite being blind, he was able to sense where all the objects in the room were without running into any of them.
"Master?" Kau cried out. Not verbally though. His voice had been taken away by his so-called-Master, along with his sight. But his voice was sent out telepathically to anyone who might be near, in neighboring rooms or passing in the hall. His voice was soft and wispy, like crisp air breathed out of one's mouth on a cold day. Kau tried again, his tone more desperate this time, like a puppy whining for its mother. He wasn't supposed to call out the way he had. Kau was supposed to be a dog. Dogs weren't supposed to talk, therefore Kau wasn't supposed to either. Whenever he used his power, Kau's master found him and scolded him right away. So when Kau received no scolding nor a reply, he felt his panic rising. He explored the room once more, desperately hoping to catch his master's scent. Maybe his master had Kau found after he was hurt and put him in a new room? But if that the case, it would smell like home and his masters scent would be lingering somewhere. All Kau knew was that something had either fell on his head or someone had hit him before he woke up here.

When he came across a door, he tried the handle, huffing when he discovered that it was locked. Kau was locked in his strange room. He scouted the room for anything else that would let him out, heart skipping when the boy found another door. Kau tried it and felt excited when he swung open, only to freeze and feel his hope shrivel away when he discovered that he was in a washroom.

Defeated, Kau crawled back to bed and curled around his doll once again. Maybe if he waited like a good boy his master would come and get him. Unless... His master had abandoned him? Kau refused to believe so but the possibility weight in the back of his mind, making his head throb harder. It was hard to think. His disappointment and desperation was making him exhausted. Instead, he reached out and glanced into the minds around him. Kau wasn't supposed to do that either. It made his head spin and he felt nauseous but he wanted to to know what was going on. It took him a moment to piece together the different thoughts until it hit him.

A slave shop

Kau was in a slave shop. What was he doing in a slave shop when he had a master? Unless... His master found something better? Impossible. His master had always been so proud of Kau. Kau was his master piece. He was a good boy and he was the perfect pet. Unless... He was too perfect? Had Kau's master gotten bored with him?

Kau couldn't think anymore. Not after using up so much energy. Kau let out a defeated noise and hugged his toy close, blacking out seconds later.

Roland almost thought Nahi would refuse his offer once she heard he wouldn't give in to her demands about the collar. She clearly gave him an indignant look and he smirked inwardly, knowing he'd won as soon as he noticed the slight change in her posture right before she asked suddenly if they were leaving. He made a mental note to watch her body language more closely. The woman was an enigma when it came to her expressions...most of the time. It seemed easier if he could piece together an emotion connected to a twitch of the eye or how agitated she was based on the posture of her shoulders. He assumed he'd be able to catch her mood a lot easier as time went on but it wouldn't hurt to find out everything he could as fast as possible. His demon side prompted him to know everything about someone so he could manipulate them easier, but he was also curious about this woman and wanted to know her as an actual person as well.

Opening the door, he waved the guard standing outside away before holding an open hand out to Nahi. "Of course we're going, come. I'll take you to the mistress of this place so we can sign all the proper papers before we leave." He had debated on keeping her in her room then leading her straight out to the car after he'd dealt with signing everything off, but now that he had his mind set on getting the woman, he didn't want her out of his sight until they got back to his estate.

The first thing he was going to do once they got home was to feed her an exquisite meal. The food at this place, he assumed was simple and a bit repetitive in order to keep things easier for the cooks so he was going to give her something a little different. Maybe he would ask her if she had any favorite dishes she remembered. The real fun of getting her situated into the estate would be the next day after she'd gotten some rest and a tour of the building and property. He's take her shopping for new clothes and merchandise. Maybe there were some native american shops in the area they could go to.

"Oh I still want you of course. Patience Nahi, we'll get you out of here as soon as possible." He chuckled, noticing the raised eyebrow and moved his hand further out towards her. "Come, take my hand and we'll get everything situated. We'll be in the vehicle and out of here in no time. We're not going to do anything particularly taxing the rest of today so all you need to worry about is getting a tour of everything after the dinner meal. Then you can rest in your new room the rest of the night if you want. There are a few places that are open to you at all times and I'll point them out as we go along" He felt excited that he was finally able to share some things with someone else in his home. The other girls he'd taken he did a one night stand on purpose so he wouldn't get attached to any, but a slave was different. He wondered just how different his life would change with someone other than servants around.

Balthazar wasn't normally a man to second guess his decisions. But considering he was here more on the whim of his younger brother Gregory, he allowed himself to mull over this situation. It never occurred to him before to acquire a slave. He had a few trusted servants to attend to him and for a man of his standing, he required so little. But this trip was not meant to meet his basic needs. What he needed was a companion. A pet of some sort to amuse him when he felt like it. But Balthazar would not take in just any old stray. No, he was use to having nice things and he would like to keep it that way. But still a slave? Balthazar sighed. He might as well give it a shot, it wasn't as if he had to purchase a slave if none were to his liking.

Glancing out through the tinted windows, Balthazar saw the pallas estate looming overhead. The limo came to a stop and with another sigh Balthazar rose from his seat. The limo door was opened for him, as he exited the vehicle. His driver stood next to him, holding an umbrella over his head to shield him from the sun's rays. Balthazar hated to be out in the sun, so his trek into the estate was a quick one.

At the front door a butler greeted him, asking Balthazar to state his business. "I am here to purchase a slave. I was told this establishment was the best and would be capable of meeting my specific needs." The butler said no more as he silently lead Balthazar towards the east wing of the manor. There he was escorted to an office of who he assumed was the Mistress of the manor. Mistress Athena Pallas carried herself as an educated woman with smart business sense. Balthazar could respect that, although he found the profession of selling slaves a bit distasteful. Still, as the overseer of this establishment he gave her the respect she required.

As he seated himself in front of her desk, he went over his requirements for his slave. He wanted a female, either a velvet or leather collar. His other requests were more flexible but he would absolutely not budge on no vampires or mental handicaps. Shy and reserve was one thing, but he did not have the time to deal with someone with mental issues. The Mistress listened to his request and handed Balthazar some files that fit his requirements. He skimmed through a few, none actually grabbing his attention at first. He was about to give up and consider this a wasteful trip when a particular girl caught his interest. A human, interesting. He did not expect a human slave to be among the fold of supernatural and otherworldly beings. Still she met most of his requirements and so far caught his attention. With his decision made, Mistress Athena called for a guard to lead him to the slave's quarters.

He passed by many rooms and door, coming to a halt at his desired location. Without any hesitancy, Balthazar opened the door and ventured in. Given what he read about this particular slave, he doubt she'd pose a huge threat to him. Without so much of a glance at the slave in the room Balthazar placed himself on the love-seat across the room from the slave. His body posture remained relaxed but his eyes were alert, taking account of his surroundings and the slave's location on the bed. "Come here, slave. If you wish to be purchased, I require a closer examination." he commanded.

The room was nice, and could be worse, Rowena mused as she sat on the bed and looked out the window. The weather was nice and sunny and she wished she could go outside, or open the window. But she wasn't allowed to do either in this place and sighed to herself. It was hard not to get depressed, sitting around and wondering what her fate would be. Well, sold as a slave, obviously. But to whom - that was what worried the young woman and the books did little to distract her as she sat and waited and worried. She had been there for about four months now and though a few people had come in to look at her, no one had bought her. She was...too shy, too withdrawn. Too human, one had said, as if being human automatically made her boring. That was the first time she had been referred to as a 'human' like that and it made her wonder what else was there in this strange place. It wasn't a particularly-pleasant sort of thought and now every time someone came in - which was more and more rare - Rowena looked even more nervous and timid than before, wondering if they were human or not as well.

Really, she shouldn't have even been here, she thought morosely. What was she doing in this sort of place? Other than making someone else money, the girl thought nastily. She'd had plenty of time to mull over her life decisions and had come to the conclusion that while she had made some pretty poor ones, none of them should have ended up with her being sold as a slave. A legal slave, of all things, something she had never heard of. Sighing again, she flopped onto her back. Having recently showered, Rowena's hair was loose and damp, curling a bit as it dried, and wore leggings and an oversized shirt. All the clothing she had currently had been given to her when she arrived and if she ever left the place, she didn't know if she would be taking it with her or not. Probably not, all things considered, as she stared up at the canopy above her bed. When she was a little girl she used to dream about having a bed like this - hell, a room like this. Now she figured it was sort of ironic that all she wanted to do was leave. "This sucks," Rowena announced to no one in particular, heaving a heavy sigh.

Hearing footsteps, she didn't bother to sit up or look. Lately they always passed by her room and there was no point in worrying anymore. It seemed like she was going to be here until she died, or expired. Did slaves expire? Rowena hadn't the faintest clue what could happen to her here if she didn't get sold and the idea wasn't a pleasant one. So when the door opened, she sat up quickly, huge green eyes staring at the man who'd come through the door. He didn't even look at her, just walked in liked he owned the place and sat down across from the bed. Staring at him in shock and wondering if he knew he had the wrong room, the young woman almost objected when he called her 'slave'. Like she was some sort of thing. But to him, to everyone here, that was all she was - she had realized that a while ago, but after living her entire life as a normal person, it took a while to sink in that one was an object to be bought and sold at the whim of others.

A bit sulkily, the girl got to her feet and walked over to the man, standing about a foot away from him. "My name is Rowena," she objected softly, glancing briefly up at him before looking down at her feet again. He had an intimidating presence and she didn't know what sort of man he was - if he wanted her for sex, to hurt her, or some sort of housekeeper. It was all she was good for, she thought bitterly.
