Guess they can both see through magical darkness - well, the shade, obviously. The four scouts leaped from rock to rock, making their way back up the trench and to the surface, then breaking off into a sprint toward Barton. Their plans had been affected by this sudden attack, and the sudden rescue. Things would need to be sped up.

The fifth was aware of this, despite being some distance away, in a tiny encampment of gaunt, sickly looking soldiers wearing armor, with robed figures walking around amongst them. He was being updated telepathically on all that was happening, which he was relaying to the tall, armored figure standing before him.

"They've been compromised somehow. Constructs teleported into the hideout. We'll have to attack sooner than anticipated."

"This is not part of the plan," the armored figure replied in a whispery rasping voice.

"Nothing ever goes to plan, commander. Have your troops ready by tomorrow evening."

"As you wish, my lord," the commander brought a gauntleted fist up to its chestplate in a salute, and the scout walked out of the tent they were talking in.

Nexxus merely ignored the Naruto-wannabe, vanishing through a shadowed wall in silence.

(Outtie. Might be back later.)

Brendan Night gave up on trying to decide if his new fake ID card even looked like him and stuffed the card back in his pant pocket before he pulled a folded piece of paper out of another pocket and studied the lists of addresses and phone numbers. He looked at the next name on the list and wondered if the bartender at that bar would throw him out before he got a chance to ask any question just as the one a moment ago had...

The boy almost looked legal in his slightly grungy black leather trench coat and scuffed leather pants with a faded black T-shirt, he had shot up again to stand at 5'9 and his dark red hair had grown long enough to almost cover his face again.

His bike was parked at a shopping mall around the corner, and he shuffled his army boots as he trudged back. This was the second bar today that he had tried, and there were at least five others in Barton alone that he could try before he had to pick another town.

A young, woman, about 5'4 or so was walking down the street, headed straight for the bar where Bren was headed. She too, was looking down at a piece of paper in her hand, but she didn't seem at all worried she would get kicked out. Instead, her auburn curls drifted down to her waist in rich tendrils that sprung from a ponytail upon the top of her head, and pretty green eyes shown out with merriment and happiness, although there was some locked intelligence back there.

Upon her person was a white oxford shirt, and a purple vest that fit her petite figure quite nicely, although her skirt was a little short, it was a simple purple and blue plaid that could -almost- make her pass for a schoolgirl, but her figure made her seem a bit older than that.

"Excuse me..."She made to move around him, into the door.

"...Brendon?" She didn't look like anyone Brendon knew. Who could she be?

Amelia knocked on the thick wooden door. "Lady Rachelle?" She called, raising her voice to be heard through. "Sorry for the delay. It's captain Amelia, reporting the state of our arrival."

"... come in, captain."

Amelia entered, and the heavy door shut itself loudly behind her. Rachelle was sitting at her desk as always. Her red Crusader jacket was hanging on the wall behind her, and she was sporting a simple leather tunic instead of it. She smiled to the captain and motioned to a seat, pulling out a few sheets of paper and a quill from her desk to take notes. Amelia sat softly and dropped her report on the desk.

"Everyone loves their new quarters, my lady. The docks are ample and leave more than enough space for the Technicians to tend the airships. The squads are also more than happy to be allowed small joint rooms rather than barrack dormitory. Guardian and Knight teams are especially thankful, for they can deepen their bonds for better partnership and communication."

Rachelle smiled in answer. "This is good news. The Arena sure is a gift from the Heavens." Her voice, curiously, drifted off as she ended her sentence. There was more to the acquisition of the Arena than most knew. The Arena's north wing had been donated to the Purge by a mysterious benefactor, but Rachelle was still the only one to know who this person was, and even she knew nothing of the reason.

Which was all the more intriguing, considering the person.

"What of our troops? Who is ready for a mission?"

"Yes," continued Amelie, "As of now, counting our patrols in the city, we have 50 Guardians and 50 Knights ready for duty, as well as 22 Steamwalkers that can be dispatched. It will be another few days for all of the airships to take flight again, as the Aerialists need rest, but an emergency team can be hastily gathered to fly the Darkon as it requires but a small crew. The non-fighting personnel is all ready and working at the moment, and we have 72 Infantry soldiers awaiting orders."

"What of our Ambassadors?" Replied Rachelle after taking a few seconds to finish scribbling down the numbers. Amelie, who had seen the question coming, lost no time in answering: "After making sure everything was in place at the headquarters, they all returned to their regions and on their respective missions."

The boy blinked big blue eyes and tried for a moment to figure out who the heck this person could be...before he simply jumped to conclusions and said the first thing that came to mind. "Sorry, don't know who you are talking about...and you can tell Sam that I'm busy right now!" stare

Apparently the boy was not as bright as he had once seemed, or he was really tired of trying to keep his sister out of his head xp

"Brendon Hunter" She huffed, moving toward the backpack she had on and slipping a pair of sunglasses on. "It's me, Gabi. James' sister." She looked way too pretty to be Gabi, who formerly had seemed so bookish, and quiet. Someone had done quite the transformation on her.

eek Bren managed to look even more confused for a moment before he broke out in a sheepish grin and tucked his hair back behind his ear sweatdrop "Gabi? Wow, you look gre...err different...been a while since I saw you last...my sister didn't send you, did she?" stare

It had been a bad few weeks for Brendan, and he was feeling just as worn as the clothes that he had picked up at the second hand store...just running into someone that he happened to know was more than enough to make him suspicious...

Gabi shook her head, the ponytail swinging around her face quite merrily. "Nope. Haven't seen Sam in quite a while." She poked at his chest and smiled. "You've gotten taller too, I haven't seen you in so long. Guess we're never going to hunt down your dad, huh?"

stare "Do yourself a favor and don't mention me if you happen to run into her as well..." Bren slouched and jammed his hands in his coat pockets.

His hair escaped from behind his ears again and fell like a soft curtain of shiny dried blood to hide his face. "The old man had a lot of dives that he liked to hide in...But I need to find him soon..." sweatdrop He studied Gabi from behind his hair, wondering again if she was serious about helping him find his father.

Her hands went to her hips. Jeez, he was just like James. Never asking for help. "Well, I have some free time to help...if you want." She was a little shy, and she did still have a bit of a crush on him. She quickly stuffed her paper into her bag and looked at him.

"I'm your friend, Brendon. If you can't ask them for help, who can you ask?"

sweatdrop "My sister and I are not getting along...we have a difference of opinions at the moment, so I didn't expect you to want to help me either..." He brushed his bangs out of his eyes again and there was definitely a vulnerable look to him right then, betraying the fact that he was definitely not as grown up as his height made him seem.

"I would really be clad for the help...You have no idea how many damn bars the few people that I was able to get a hold of told me that he might have been in recently! The man gets around more than my mother does, and she doesn't need a car or a helicopter.." xp

She chuckled at Bren, moving to brush a bit of the hair from his face. "Well, I'm not Sam, now am I." She glanced down at her watch. "Well, I have a bit of time, free week and all, so we can start now?"

A hint of a blush crept across his face, but he smiled at Gabi and showed her his precious little bit of paper. "I already checked all the bars that his old GSF friends mentioned around the stadium, and Latent... I honestly have no other idea of where to even start looking for him." stare
