"Turned into the human torch and decided I'd look best as a pyre. Most people write pretentious books of s**t on psychology and people's problems... with you, they could fill the entire internet with their drivel."

A slight smile played at the corners of her mouth as she spoke, remain wordless at his show of bravado, and then subsequent weakness as his body inevitably flagged despite his best efforts.
There was no real shame in it, unless he believed there was, but it wouldn't do to undermine him by adding to it with easily misread gestures.

"Turns out you got a LOT of self loathing going on there boy. And almost as much for the woman you hate me mentioning."

His face visibly twitched when she mentioned her, he winched from the sudden movement and was again hit with another wave of pain. This was fast becoming old to him, he got that his body was sore but he didn't need to be reminded constantly.

"Wait, full body immolation? No wonder I ******** ache, I can never manage to maintain that for long but I don't remember thinking of that. I was going with rip her leg off and beat her to death again with it"

He was going to shrug but he really didn't want the sick feeling and the pain to come back again. Instead he just sat there and looked at Roan, there really wasn't more he was capable of. His eyes could mask however, slight hint of fear of not really knowing how that had all happened.

"That's because you're still running from your own thoughts, and past. As you adequately demonstrated when you assumed my offer was that of the serpent to Eve."

The smile deepened, taking the sting from her words as she leant back in her seat and sought a cigarette. Lighting it with every sign of relish, she slid the lighter back into a pocket and crossed her legs.

"Betrayal can only be dealt with by confronting the betrayer. And guilt can only be absolved by doing whatever it is you believe best rectifies the situation. In short... what do you intend to do about it all? Or am I to get the pleasure of annoying the hell out of you for kicks periodically by mentioning your ex-lover and jumping out of shadows at you to watch you flinch?"

Again her voice held a challenge in it, just as it had each time they'd spent time together lately. Rule one. everything is a test. Seems it was certainly a true statement.

"I told you, I will find her and then kill her."

Dagoth spat the words out, he knew he was being teased and challenged but he just felt lost now knowing he was far from being ready. His should slumped slightly before realising Roan was still watching him, he held his head up still and grinned back at her.

"I cannot wash away my sins, but I can bath in my enemies blood. Isn't that what you want to hear?"

"Where you going to start?"

She leant forwards, a lot more amenable now that he'd snapped back at her without actually going completely insane.

"As long as they deserve it, the blood of enemies is useful. Mostly though... what I want to hear is that you're going to stop hugging your little blankie and face up to your past so you can focus on refining your skills, and bbq a certain deserving son of a b***h I know on my behalf."

Blunt, to the point, and a dangerous thing to say in such an open area, but still.

"There's the price, well there's never been such a thing as free lunch. Is this a*****e a goat by any chance?"

Dagoth deliberatly avoided talking about his own mental problems further, he was sore enough without adding a headache to the mix. He was however, interested in what assassination she had him pegged for. The pirate was not unknown to the job, but he hadn't been a sword for hire for a fair few years.

"Heh.. the price, and the reward, depending. I'll tell you more, If and when you're ready. For now... you have your own agenda to pursue.

Is there anything else you need?"

Seemed there was more to this than just the obvious, but the slight flick of her head indicated the target he assumed she meant was indeed the one. Further discussion of it, here especially, was not wise however.

"Reward?"

Dagoth was very curious now, he tried to turn fully to Roan but his broken body just wasn't playing ball with him. Instead he clenched his fists and nodded his head at Roan.

"I could do with some food, there's a list of herbs in my bag that will help with healing and I guess books on the Sabbat. Know thy enemy, I'd also like to know more about you."

He looked more sheepish at the last request but if he was expected to get over his demons in her presence he at least wanted to know something about her in return.

"I'll call it down. A moment, please."

Holding up a finger, she picked up the phone beside Dagoth's bed, and simply dialled 1. Within moments, it was possible to hear Jan;s tones on the other end, all be it slightly tinny. Passing on an order for a large helping and variety of foods, as well as vitae for herself, she set the receiver back down and settled back, again steepling her fingers in fornt of her.

"So. What do you want to know?"
PostPosted: Tue May 22, 2012 1:42 pm

"You clearly have a warriors....mentality but you have breeding. I guessed that you're older than you look and not 20th century old, so how does someone that's only expected to squeeze out offspring become this?"

Dagoth really wanted to know about her death, but it would be meaningless without knowing how she came to that point. He'd hoped maybe it would bring him some reference to why she was so interested in the 3 of them in the house. His senses were coming back to him properly now, he could smell the one named Corbin, the lingering sent of the one named Iden and finally the old butler moving around somewhere.

"That's the nicest way anyone has ever put 'you're batshit insane, for a peer'."

She was chuckling as she said it, and shaking her head with mirth. That said, she hadn't missed how important what he;d chosen to ask was. Score oe to him.

"I was born in Devon. Don't ask me where. I'm from French stock, born British, and tainted. You may ask me more about one of those three - my origins, my upbringing, or my taint. Your choice."

"Upbringing"

Dagoth didn't skip a beat the younger man knew that this was really the core of what made her deep down. He was fascinated now, he'd even begun to lean forward towards her the ache of muscles being a distant memory now something had caught his mind. Where he was from gender did not define a warrior although there wasn't great numbers of females, their standing was based on ability and valour. Dagoth knew that in most of this relm that was not the case, there was great divides between genders, races and beliefs he wanted to know first hand about it.

"I was the noble born daughter of a French peer and his wife. We lived in a practical castle-type building on the top of a hill, overlooking farm lands, a small village and a second nearby village which subsisted on fishing.

I was the eldest child, and always knew that if my father didn't have a son by the time I was 21, I would inherit our lands on his death. As time went by, he had plenty of daughters, but no son. As the outlook became bleaker, I was permitted to learn areas of governing no woman usually would. I also had a close friend among my father's troops who taught me to sword fight, something for which I had a knack, as well as archery.

I spent most of my youth on horseback, riding my stallion. He was a warhorse, naturally, however he was unmanageable as a colt, and as I had more time than the men, I was the one who finally broke him in. This was my great escape when things were hard, as a man may use a car to get away from things today.

My favourite food growing up was fresh, wild strawberries. I enjoyed hunting and hated sewing. My mother hated me with a passion, the reasons for which I wouldn't understand for the entirety of my life, until I died.

My father taught me everything I know and hold dear to this day, but was eventually crippled in a war that swept the area. A week before my 21st birthday, my mother had a son, and as my father could no longer fight and thus had time on his hands...

My position was undermined, I was given away to another group with political interest and met my end en route."

She spoke of all of this with a careful neutral dis-passion, watching Dagoth. it was clear she was telling the truth, and that thinking on it too hard was painful to her. It was also obvious she didn't wish to discuss her age - she had left out any identifying factors that would determine where, or when, she was talking about, though guesses could be made.

"I was a twin, the least favourite of my father. My brother had the talent and the charisma, I was the killer and the loyalist. I know what it means to be sold off for political gain."

Dagoth couldn't hide the bitterness in his voice, he had drank in every word Roan had said and couldn't believe at first the opportunity she was given. He had gotten the hint she was sold or given to cainites or at least that was what he believed. His mind churned over what she could have been worth, then it hit him like a ton of bricks and the words exploded from his mouth.

"The parasite."

"I'm sure you do...."

Exhaling a smoke ring, she quirked an eyebrow as he burst out about her 'parasite'. Shaking her head softly, she tapped the ash from her smoke and elaborated.

"No, my symbiote came to me later. Like I said... I was killed en route to my 'new home'. Still. you asked about my upbringing not my taint. That is a topic for another time, prehaps. Ask me of something else, if your curiosity still abounds."

It would seem she was feeling guarded;y talkative tonight. A change, prehaps.
