Sirene Naiads Yume watched as William seemed a little more on edge than normal. He wasn't himself and seemed to be fighting something. As he moved, her noticed that he never let go of Thistle. "There is something he isn't telling me. I know it. She thought nodding her head as she followed. Taking a seat on the sofa next to him, she watched him waiting for what he had to say. Yume looked into his eyes and blinked. She looked confused almost at what see saw. They were white? No...blue. Something wasn't right and she didn't like this. Moving next to him, she placed her hand on his. "William, I'm here. Please, don't be scared to tell me anything." She tried to sound comforting not only to him but to herself. She was getting scared but she didn't care to show this to her friend who seemed even worse than her. Sighing, Yume looked into her eyes and leaned back. "Please don't start now refusing to tell me things. I was the first you did and frankly, I don't want you to stop." She smiled cat-like. William blinked back into her gaze, his hand keeping hers held within a tight grasp, before he finally looked down towards the dog at his side. The other hand that wasn't encased around Yume's finding itself holding tightly onto the dog collar. His white tooth biting down hard onto his bottom lip for a few moments, what would she say, would she still be friends with him in the end. Where to start? He half opened his mouth, as if he was about to speak, before closing it once more going silent for matter of a few minutes. His wings fluttered slightly on his back, his golden halo tipping forwards as he tilted his head down towards his lap, the boy finally starting his tale.
'Yume...i only told you half the story when i told you what happened to me up there...when i was up there i was reliant on the animals...the dogs, the birds, the beetles, the ants, the cats and even the larger creatures...because....because..because i was blind' William finally came out with, his voice unsteady, stuttering over his words until the sentance finally came out. He seemed awfully nervous about the whole situation, not waiting for a reaction, before he carried on with his small tale. Not even looking over towards Yume's gaze to see her reaction, his sweaty palm keeping a tight cling back onto hers.
'when i came down here...i thought...they had given it me back for good; as i could see. For the first time i could watch the sunset, watch the birds in the sky, see everything like a normal child...but then..then two days ago everything suddenly went blurry...that...that was when i stopped sending letters' he continued on, the hand around thistles collar removing itself coming towards his pocket, until he removed ten peices of paper putting them into her lap. He finally blinked into her gaze, his voice on the edge, but yet his eyes refused to grasp any emotion within them.
'i tried...i tried to explain it but the words just wouldn't come...Yume...i'm loosing my sight again...very soon...very soon i'll be' William whispered, looking away now, his wigns trembleing as if he wouldn't let the final word escape his lips. Of course he didn't want it, he didn't want to be lumbered again with the darkness, not enableing him to see anything like a normal child would. He hated himself for it, hated the fact she may hate him for it, but yet he knew full well she had to know. It was one of the first big acts of bravery the fallen had shown since he had arrived on this earth; but maybe it was to be his last.
'blind' the word finally came, william going totally silent, not even knowing the words to carry on for the time being. Desperation found deep within his voice, his sweaty palm keeping hers under a tight grasp, as he kept what little of his gaze down towards his trousers. Hiding within himself as he used to as a baby, too shy to mix with anyone else, a very hard person to get along with unless he warmed up towards you.((ooc: sorry about the quote, just it was the last page, so i thought it best. But ne...two pretty dramatic situations going along side by side...gorden bennnit. Oh and i had permission from Arafel to do this just as a further note))

Yume noticed his movements were strangly different today. He was acting on edge the more they were together and her eyes could see so little as to what the problem was. Her heart was racing...she was scared for his life and the life of his father if they were at risk. Slowly, she put those thoughts out of her mind. She was certain that if that was so, she would have known by now.
"William, I knew you didn't tell me... She started but stopped as the last three words filled her mind. Blind...he was going blind...she knew it then and there. She was shaking now. Her hand gripped his tighter as if this was a dream and she had to know he was real. She never took her glowing yellow eyes off his face.
Slowly, Yume looked down towards the letters and paper now in her lap. They were covered with William's hand writting and some ripped up. She knew this wasn't a joke. He really was going blind and she could do nothing about it. Her best friend would never be able to share the sights that they could as they grew up. What would be next...would he leave her?
Slowly Yume looked up at him, her eyes holding tears. "Why didn't you tell me sooner? Why did you keep this from me?" Her voice was hurt. She was crying and in pain. Pain from something she did not know. Yume pulled her hand out of William's and placed it over her face. Suddenly, she pushed herself off the couch and ran, leaving a trail of the letters behind her. She need to think. Something had to be done to help him...but what? She hoped he would follow her as she stepped into the warm pool room.

'Yume, i!' William half shouted, squinting to see the blurry figure of Yume run off, dropping all his carefully inked out letters behind her. His palm came out, trying almost to reach her, before realising she was totally gone from around him. Letting a sigh escape his lips, he squeezed his palm into a small fist, closing his eyes tightly as he tilted his chin down. She had run, just as he thought she might, but he had to follow her - explain that if she didn't want to be his friend it would be alright.
'Thistle...come on girl...its time to use your eyes once more, go find Yume' the boy finally whispered, resting his hand upon the dogs back, dragging himself shakily onto his feet once more. He didn't feel sturdy, for once he felt guilty he hadn't told her sooner, but he had tried. Tried his very hardest to explain in all his letters but the words never seemed to come out right, almost as if he had lost all writing ability. Clicking in the back of his throat, the dog rested her nose towards the ground, before following the steadily pawing dog.
Thistle let her ears drop seeing the young cat girl cry, pressing her nose down towards the ground, following the letters and Yume's scent. Her tail swishing from one side to the other, her nose pressed down onto the floor, gradually pawing her way over towards the rather warm pool room. Once arriving at the door she gently nosed william's leg with her wet nose, pushing her head against the door, until she sat once more at his side.
William gave the small dog a pressing smile, just the shape of the blurry door being made out infront of him, his palms coming up as he pushed the door open. Almost taking a step back as the heat from inside the room hit him, before removing his hand from the dogs collar, stepping unattended into the large pool room. He stood there for a few minutes, squinting up until he just about made out Yume's figure sitting on the nearest sun lounger, carefully making his way over towards her. The brown, white and blue blob of what he saw ahead of him slowely coming nearer, until his knee came into contact with the sun lounger.
'Yume...i did try to tell you...i couldn't get it down onto paper. Everytime i wrote, it wouldn't come out right, please...i don't want this to change anything between us. I couldn't bear it if you left me alone..id have no one, please Yume i'm...i'm begging you' William whispered, just for her ears, bringing his palms down until he managed to sit himself upon the edge of the plastic sun lounger. His voice filled with tears, choked slightly, but yet his eyes kept that same unemotional blink. The boy trying his best to get some feeling sparking back into him once more but it just wouldn't come.

Yume was in tears. It was alot for her to hear that her best friend, the one she had first meet that night a long time ago around the fire, would never see her again. It was hard for her to take in.
What seemed like years passed for her till she heard the sound of the room door open. Turning her head slowly back, she saw William enter but she knew he couldn't see her...not anymore. She nodded towards him as he talked. When he stood near her, Yume couldn't hold back anymore.
"William, I never wanted to leave you. I...I just needed a moment to think. Sirene has a family member who is blind so I know what it means." Tears were flowing from her eyes as she moved and hunged William tightly. She closed her eyes as she cried into his chest.
"I just wish you would have told me eariler. That way you wouldn't have to see me like this. I would have known. " She pulled away from him trying to smile, in hope that he would see it. "It's not like me to cry so much. She turned to brush away a few tears.

William blinked down towards her, feeling her grip tightly onto his shirt, his pale eyes keeping what blurry gaze down onto her. He trembled slightly at her touch, so badly wanting to hold her for good and tell her everything would be alright, while everyone else wasn't looking William had grown up. Taken away his playful childhood days once his sight started failing him, forced into a life of moping, but yet with Yume here it seemed to lighten his heart. Made him feel he could still live that life of freedom as a child.
'Yume...you know..it isn't always bad to cry...Papa told me once..let it out, don't keep it in, it wells up and just gets worse' he whispered, taking what could be classed as a tiny step forwards towards the blurry object infront of him, before turning her gingerly around. His grasp fell down onto her shoulders, doing his best to get her to face him, before shakily his palm moved up to brush over her cheek. He seemed so careful, not daring to even brush accross her ear for a few seconds, until his palm came up. Wiping off the last of her tears the best he could within his fingertips.
'nothings going to change...not if we don't let it....thats what dad said...we have to keep going' he continued on, his palm having fallen back towards his side, seeming like every bit of energy he had was poured into that small motion of swishing his thumb gingerly accross her cheek. He squinted for a few moments, wanting to grasp her in a tight hug, but not even knowing if she wanted it anymore. Maybe she thought him as a freak now? True her mother had a friend...but that didn't change the matter in the young angels mind as he stood there. His gaze trying its best to make out what he could of the blurry blob infront of him.
William stood there, his wings still quivering, two large blue orbs finally starting to show something. Finally one silent tear ran down his cheek, the boy trying his best to hide it, wanting to show atleast he could stay strong for his best friend. The tear stroked down, hitting the peice of black cloth around his neck, but something seemed strange about the cloth. It absorbed the liquid, but barely had a wet patch on it, the peice of pitch black cloth having been wrapped gingerly around the young fallen's neck, tied at the back.

"Now who is the one with tears." Yume tried to shake things off. She just wanted to see him smile once even. Nothing was going to change, she would make sure of that. Yet, she had to be sure to always keep in mind that he wouldn't be able to see. She would have to discribe instead of show now.
"You're dad is right. I don't want to lose you as s friend but give me time, ok?" She seemed to be smiling and talking at a lighter note than before. The idea was getting firmly into her head and wasn't going anywhere. "It's going to take me awhile to remember that what I see, you can't anymore.." Her voice shook again ever so slightly.
Shaking her body to get the thought out of her head for a moment, she sighed and looked behind her. "You know...things will be different if we want them or not. Life is going to go on for us but I want to be friend no matter where that takes us."

'T..Then....lets promise' William said, giving her a hard pressed down smile, before he brought his palm out. Fumbleing for hers for a few fleeting seconds, almost with some degree of skill, wrapping his little finger back around hers. He bowed his head down slightly, biting down hard onto his bottom lip, his little finger twining tightly with her own. His gaze blinked into what he presumed to be hers, that blurry figure infront of him seeming to become far more blurry, squinting slightly as he tried his best to picture his best friend infront of him.
The usual plaits held in her hair, two large cat ears, a school uniform which was normally perfectly worked, never one crease in the material. William stayed where he was, imaging it over in his mind, passing the picture over the blurry figure until it made some sense. His hand at his side brushed over thin air, seemingly searching for something, his wings going back to a small quiver once more.
Thistle suddenly poked her nose through the door, running quickly towards the fallen, pressing her back up against his searching palm. Her brown furry back pressing up against his fingertips, large brown eyes blinking up towards Yume. The dog seemd to understand the way the girl was feeling, sitting down once more at her guardians side, her tongue lolling out of her mouth in a pant; seeing as the large, but heated, swimming pool was pretty warm.
'lets promise this...on a pinky shake...that we will always be together. Through thick and thin, because thats what best friends do' William spoke, his words being as clear as he possibly could make them, a serious tone to his voice. This may be just a pinky shake promise but it meant everything to the young lad, his friendship almost rode upon this, upon her answer. He kept his tooth bit down onto his lip, trying his best to keep his glazed over gaze on her.

"You got yourself a promise." She smiled wrapping her pinky around his and pulling tight. She was laughing again hoping that he would at least smile for her. Her mind was confused but she knew this promise could be kept...so she hoped.
Looking down, Yume saw Thistle's eyes looking up at her. She nodded and sighed. It seemed more than just herself felt upset and helpless about William. She wanted to do anything she could to stop this from happening but what? Sirene had told her once that it could be slowed but there was not cure for it. Yume's eyes dropped.
"William, now you must promise me something." She smiled removing her hand and throwing her arms arounf him. She whispered for his ears only. "That you will never give up. Promise me that no matter what happens, you won't give up on me or others."

William finally managed to tweak a smile, a smile that seemed to grow a little as each word she spoke hit his ears, before finally the boy who seemed he couldn't smile anymore did. His wings twitched slightly before lengthing out, flapping ever so lightly before settleing back at his side, no longer the tiny chibi little wings they had been but were now growing into fully grown wings. True they were stiff at times, but that came with growing, his wings no longer quivering from fear of his best friend leaving him alone for good.
He stumbled a little feeling her fling her arms around him, gently wrapping his arms around her back to support her, making sure her feet could stay off the ground even for a short period of time. Finally a small chuckle emmited from the angel's throat, the sound filling the large swimming baths, echoeing over the walls as that smile was seen once more. Closing his eyes for a few minutes as he heard her whisper batter through his ears, he tightened his grip, tilting his head down. His halo tilting down at the same time before he raised his eyes to open blinking towards her.
'i promise...' he finally came out with, the edge of the black cloth just touching towards her arm, cold to touch. The cloth appearing to be a total dead weight no matter how light it seemed tied around his neck, the fallen keeping his best friend in a close cuddle for a few minutes. Before letting her feet once more come in contact with the floor - never letting one palm off her wrist anymore. This seemed so precious - a promise he refused ever to break as long as the little fallen lived. He knew all he could ever want was to be Yume's friend for the rest of all time.
Thistle wagged her tail a little bit more, taking a step back on all four paws, the dog giving a small bark of joy. Her master had laughed again, skidding a little on four paws, she jumped up onto the nearest sun lounger. Sitting down as she rested her brown paws infront of her, tail wagging madly, her large brown eyes watching the pair of them.
