Dead. Dead and eaten. The flash of white.
"What- what about their partners, are they...?"
Harrison winced as Caelius brought Circe down.
The Moon Hunter was babbling insanely over the radio. They hadn't really needed - or wanted their help cleaning up. They weren't here to work. They were here to...what? See the bodies? Wade through them? Like a macabre surround-sound documentary. One that had almost gotten all of them killed.
Being dead isn't so bad, B0nez said.
Real comforting, Harrison thought back, looking out to the mounds and the collapsed monster.
No, wait a minute there. You want to keep hauling bodies? I can't believe it. Why? B0nez asked. Just to help. It doesn't matter. We've got orders. Last thing I need is more scythe-blocking practice with Caelius doing the swinging.

The smoke must have really done a number on her! That, or maybe it was the secondary attack which followed her near-paralyzation like a lemon squeezed on the wound! Whichever it was, Minerva had been out for the count, lost in her delirium but not at all immune to what injuries that would surely follow...and had followed, as the battle to avoid spikes raged on.
Through the staggering and all the flailing she managed to do, Minerva had spotted something in the distance which had caught her attention. It was a flicker of black hair and the familiar garbs in which had been worn by only her partner; Petra. She was much too far at the time to call out to, but the sight was certainly welcomed...And all too stress relieving.
As things had begun to calm, at least in the only way a situation like that might, Minnie managed a visual sweep of the site while being corralled through the portal...
Hopefully Cass and Aleister, and even Petra would be lingering on the other side...Minnie felt she need to offer some thanks and perhaps an apology or two.
((I hope this is alright to post! I know I've missed a lot of the attack rolls and such.~ ;; )

"Sure..." He answered, not really willing to argue about it right now. Besides, he was sure if it was important, Wilson would tell him.
"Heh... I didn't think so before... Not so sure now and I think I'll burn mine and see about getting a new one..." He recalled the body breaking in two and made a face. "Yeah, definitely burning it..." It probably couldn't be saved anyways, not with all the tears and bloodstains in the white fabric now.

Dakota spat on the ground as they we're cleared to remove their mask. He didn't move as Caelius called a halt on the attack, still lamenting on the fact that he had failed Ryan, a fellow moon hunter in defending him.
Chama was a cool warmth as the sand dug up into their faces. He stroked the weapon before sheathing her and grinning.
"Battle over. I'm going home now." He waved to Ryan. First things first, Shower. Instantly, even if he had to fight someone over it.

Eva flinched violently as Caelius swung his weapon out at Reine. What--had that really been necessary?! Tight-lipped, she pushed her mask aside to stare--or rather, glare--at the man, her gaze focused on him even as the creature behind them collapsed. She opened her mouth to say something, but Chara wisely chose to interrupt her before she could.
Don't, Eva. Just go help your friend.
She stared at Caelius for another moment before spinning on her heel, rushing over to where her friend was. "Reine? Reine, are you okay?" She crouched down, touching the girl's shoulder gently. Behind her, she could hear Julie muttering "no" over and over again, but she didn't glance back at the monster. That was, not until she looked up and noticed the sick expressions on the faces of her fellow trainees (at least, the ones who had removed their mask). Eva slowly glanced over her shoulder...
...And then she immediately turned away, suddenly feeling very close to throwing up. It had only been a quick glance, but she had seen everything: the white coat, the blood, the spine...
"Let's...let's get out of here," She managed, her face pale, "We should get some ice on your jaw."

Madison flinched as the butt of Caelius' scythe smacked into the foolish - or perhaps just unlucky - trainee. And then everything collapsed, and then something was moving, and...
... and ...
Madison covered her mouth, tasting bile. That was - had been - a Hunter, and it was... how was it possible to... still be alive, still be talking, still be... she gagged involuntarily, then turned away with a full-body shudder. She didn't need the encouragement of the senior Hunter to go back through the door.
Later on, she would think to check on her 'hatchling'; right now, all she wanted was a shower. The longest shower ever yet devised.
It's not here...
... And to forget. That would be nice.

Seeing Before come over to her as she was forcing to relax more. "I'm if a nervous," she replied as she was more nervous letting on. As she tightened her grip on the chain. Tori wasn't expecting Before to take her wrist and bring her over to the one he called Bix. In a panic as they were running, Tori had Aklin go to his unsummoned form as running with a sword like this would be bad. Seeing what Caelius do to the trainee that didn't follow orders and flinched a little at it and logged it into her mind never to do that at all. Once realizing that she was with others she slightly moved to were she was closer to Before as she was unsure to do or say around the others. "Y...yes that does sound like a good idea," she agreed with them as she had looked away once she had seen Caelius pull out that fallen Hunter as she didn't want to see what would have happened next, but still heard it as she didn't complain about being ushered way. Tedan had absolutely no problem with letting Before help Bix as they left, since he was sort of limping a bit himself. Surprisingly, though, it didn't hurt as much as he'd thought it would, now that he was paying attention. Ardavan interjected for a moment. And though Arda didn't answer 'out loud', the trainee got a feeling of assent from him. Following the others, they slowly made their way back home.

The shock of having Alynthe constantly screaming at her was, for a tiny moment, overruled by Caelius' presence in front of her- and then she swore she heard a crack as Circe smashed into her face, sending her flying a few feet backwards and landing face-down in the muck.
She could barely register his words over Alynthe's, but she caught the gist of it- disobeying a direct order- what direct order?
Rolling over was the most she could do, to get her face out of the disgusting gloop; just gloop, that was all, like mud. Thinking that was the only way to stop herself from throwing up into her mask- thank god for it. Evie ran over, and Reine raised a hand weakly, wiggling her fingers by way of greeting.
For better or worse, she hadn't seen Caelius' next victim.

She smiled weakly at, what she thought, was the somewhat silly greeting that Reine offered her. Silly and vaguely disturbing considering that her mask was half buried in the, uh, substance that she had fallen into. Eva reached out and tried to help her up, trying her hardest not to look back at Caelius or the...
Reine hadn't seen it yet--there was no way, considering the way that she had fallen. Eva wasn't sure whether she wanted to keep it that way or not--perhaps she could just tell the other girl later about what she saw?--as she struggled to stand back up.
"L...let's go," She said again, "We should get out of here."

"Ahahahah." It hurt to laugh- she'd need to get her jaw checked out, but it made her feel slightly better anyway.
"Thanks, Eva." It was spoken quieter than Reine's usual, but probably more heartfelt. She let her friend help her up, though she struggled to walk on her own, not wanting to get more of this awful muck all over the death hunter.
"Bet I can stay in the shower longer than you!" The way she moved was strange- half-hobble, half-skip, looking as if she would tip over any moment and fall down again. But Reine managed to make it back, anyway, if just barely.

Eva had gotten to Reine before Jordan could, helping her out of the slime and to the door. Good. Jordan hesitated a moment longer, looking back; he turned away as the scythe came down, feeling sick and yet relieved at the same time. Not a clean death.
He walked back through the portal, head down.

"Don't mention it," She replied, the weak smile still on her face. When Reine drew away, she hesitantly allowed the girl to try walking on her own, though she hovered close to her side all the while. At the mention of a shower, Eva laughed softly.
"I have to admit--I think so too."
