With a final tug, Candice was able, along with the other girl (Mary), to pull the girl on the edge up (Raven). Candice soon realized whom she had saved, but really? "Candle?! I can't believe she forgot my name! Even my 'hooker' name..."

She looked at Raven, highly irritated. "It's CANDICE. Not CANDLE!" Candice didn't know that all the yelling didn't help and all Raven could see was her mouth moving. Once she was out of the embrace, she thanked the other girl (Mary) and patted her on the back. "Hey! Come help me with someone else, will you? I don't really know others, but we need to help as many as we can. You too Raven?!"

(( Candice failed to meet many the first 24 pages because of my failure, so please quote me if you would like her help ;; ))

He heard the girl scream, and darted over to her, not even thinking. Someone needed help, and since he was in less danger than they were, he knew that he should, especially when he realized that one of them was his teacher.

There was another boy there, also trying to help, but he wouldn't be able to grab them both. "I've got one if you've got the other," he commented to Fritz.

"Here!" he said, offering his hand out for one of them to grab. They were close enough to each other that it didn't matter which hand they took, and he wasn't aware that they were unable to hear him, but his actions should speak louder than the words anyways.

Mary and some other girl were helping Raven, which was good. No one had helped Jett though, which was not so good. As little as Darwin cared for Jett, he wasn’t going to let him topple to some unknown doom. Instead he took a bracing breath and inched to the edge of the whole, dropping a skinny white hand to Jett.

“ Hey, grab on!”

The joined efforts of Amy and Joce were enough to tug her safely back up onto the remnants of the safety net that had once been a solidly formed Rainbow Road. Regina was panting softly, tears gathered in her eyes as she lay there for a moment before using what strength she had to throw herself at Joce, dragging Amy along for the ride; desperately in need of some reassurance or, at the very least, a group hug.

"THANK YOU." She wailed as she clung to the two girls for as long as she was permitted to before either pulling back, or being shoved back. "WE NEED TO GET AWAY FROM THIS HOLE. CAN YOU HEAR ME?"

As the shouted words left his mouth, Felix could feel his fury draining away from his body. Sure, he was still confused and a bit frustrated, but now he felt like he could think more clearly. He breathed a sigh of relief, though he frowned at the occasional screaming that interrupted his thoughts. At the very least, the splitting pain in his head was nearly gone now. There was a gentle pat on his arm, so he looked over to see Layton timidly coaxing him to stop yelling. His expression relaxed. “Sorry. I just needed to release some tension,” he explained.

His gaze wandered over to the gaping hole and the various people clinging to the edge. At first, Felix had no intention of assisting them—was it so bad to regard his own life so highly?—but then he spotted the girl he had met earlier. He still didn’t know her name, but he felt impelled to save her. They had conversed with each other, even if only for a minute or so. Wordlessly, he stepped forward and rushed over to Felicia. “Here.” He offered her a hand, but found it difficult to pull her up. Felix wasn’t very buff, after all. He strained to look over at Callum and Layton. “Guys, some help?”

Cathleen rubbed her eyes. Now what? She couldn't believe what she was looking at. A whate? "Now I've seen it all."

The big massive whale started to let out a loud supersonic sound. Cathleen putted her hands over her eyes but it was useless. walking backwards she started flaring her hands. "Oh..." She fell and found herself holding on for dear life.

Civilians and senshi were deaf, falling, and fine all over the rainbow pathway. Each crack and break in the pathway dulled the color around the jagged edges. The Space Whale circled the path in a wide, gaping circle. Its eyes were swirling pools of inky black, and they were honed in on the gathered warriors. The bright pink wings of Princess Chronos seemed to be of particular interest.

With a deep swell, the Space Whale released a blast of energy directly at her. Sailor Cancer threw herself in the path of the blast, casting a shield to absorb the blow. "Princess, stay ba--" Her words were cut short. The Space Whale had swooped low to the path, the flukes of its great tail swiping dangerously close to the civilians.

When it took back to the sky, Sailor Cancer was gone. The only sign of life from the dark-haired girl was the glowing silhouette of a person in the bright blue gullet of the whale. She was a prisoner, or worse.

Neso shot up to his feet. "It got Cancer!" he shouted, looking around for someone more responsible to lead the charge.

The Space Whale was not about to wait. Its mouth was too full for a sonic blast. So instead, it lifted a long, flat tail and sent a wave of purple, glowing energy out over the gathered civilians.

SAVE SAILOR CANCER

Roll TWO 6-sided die.

The first number...
If odd, you were hit by the beacon! Congratulations, you are now hallucinating.
If even, you are a nimble fox and managed to avoid it altogether.

The second number...
This is the amount of damage you do to the Space Whale, should you choose to attack!

Currently, the Space Whale has ??? HP. You may only roll once per round, but may RP as much as you would like within that time frame.

GOOD LUCK, WARRIORS!

Once Zue had calmed down, he detached himself from Mackie and squirmed until he was free. From there he morphed back into his half cat, and realized once more that he had a job to do. These civilians weren't his Zodiac, but they did need help...so perhaps he should help them?

He couldn't hear his feet tapping across the path and though he couldn't hear Felix's plea for help, he sure understood the body language. Kneeling, the catboy grabbed Felicia's other arm, and helped pull her back to safety.

"JUST TRY TO STAY CALM, IT'LL BE OKAY" He lied as best as he could.

Callum saw his sister mouth moving, but didn’t hear her words. With her tiny voice and the amount of screaming that was going on around him, how could he? “What???”

But he took her hand and pulled the girl in a close reassuring hug. He wasn’t the most fraternally affectionate person there was, but if anything actually happened to Layton, Callum was certain he would lose it and just break down. So he gripped her hand tight and tried to push through the people clustered around him, nudging with his shoulder instead of his hands. It wasn’t really working. At first he ignored Felix's demand for help. All the young man wanted to do was to get out of this disaster area to somewhere safer. Without space things yelling at him. Maybe somewhere with soft fluffy clouds and lots of Xanax.

But, something was pulling at him. A guilty conscious maybe? No... no it was Layton.

(( I am a slowbear who went to lunch. So this is me rolling for the first blast. ))

"Holy. Crap."

Aya forgot about senshi and talking cats and rainbow bridges. The sight of a giant whale swimming through space drove everything else from her mind. If she hadn't been certain enough before, now she was - this was one hundred percent real. The weirdest kind of real there ever was, but definitely not some kind of setup. Because who the hell would have come up with a space whale? (Even Pratchett was all about the space turtles instead.)

The picture she snapped with her PDA would not be of any use - a few blurry rainbow swirls against a too-dark background. She was too dazed to check it, though, so that would be all she got.

The whale made a loud cry. Something invisible seemed to be rushing towards them - a blast wave. "Oh, holy crap," Aya repeated. She broke into a run, diving away from the incoming blast.

Somehow, she managed to avoid it. Rising to her feet, she found her legs shaking. This was getting to be a bit much, even for the scoop of the century. Aya wanted to write the headlines, not be them.

Natalia was still crouched down with her hands over her head when the whale swooped down and ate the Zodiac senshi, and still trembling. It was Neso's shoult that made her go 'wut?' for a moment and actually peek open a pale blue eye just in time to see the whale's next attack.

She dove to avoid the attack, once again getting incredibly lucky.

Natalia was afraid, jittery, and frustrated. Wild Natalia hurt the whale in her frustration. Somehow. I'm not sure how. But she did. Maybe she turned in to the Hulk and threw one of the more annoying civilians at it. May be she... okay, no, but whatever she did, she took out a little fear and frustration on the whale.

Mary was tackle hugged by Raven (and also lost more of her hearing than she already had) and gently patted the girl on the head before moving over to Darwin and Jett, and mostly ignoring Candice or was it Candle? She wasn't sure, but needed the whole group mostly whole before going off to other people.

Once again she thrust her hand into the abyss before her and commanded.

"HE WHO THINKS SHE IS THROWN IS A DORK AND IS USING SHE WHO IS A TWIT TO MAKE HER JEALOUS, GRAB OUR HANDS!"

Once again, she may or may not have shouted that to the entire bridge.

still hanging from the ledge Cathleen was able to move when she saw the whale flap its wings sending a wave of purple, glowing energy. She couldn't hear the whale but she saw it just in time.

Picking up a rock with her free hand she threw it at the whale only to have it barely hit the creature.

Mal picked herself up off the ground, stooping to keep her center of gravity low and prevent her face from any further run-ins. She wiped at her bloodied nose with the back of her hand, the streaks of glistening red splattered across her skin causing a sickening twinge in her stomach. At least she was faring better than those clutching the sides of the massive hole, their deafened shrieks just barely rising above the whale’s cacophonous bellowing. Mal staggered forward, trying desperately to fight through the pounding in her head and rouse herself into being a Good Samaritan. She neared the chasms’ edge, stretching out an arm toward the fingers curled around the splintered rays of light, trying to reach out to someone, anyone.

FWOOMP

Mal fell to her knees, the roar of sounds turning to complete silence as her body tensed as if struck. Her eyes widened, the palpitations of her heart thrumming in her ears. Something massive and oily suddenly filled her downcast field of vision, and when Mal looked up, she found herself gazing into the dark pools of the space whale’s eyes.

“Are you alright, Miss Landsman?” it rumbled, frowning. Or at least, frowning as much as a whale conceivably could frown.

“Oh… Oh, yes, I’m quite alright, Mr. Whale,” she assured him, climbing to her feet. The blood covering her hands had disappeared, replaced by gloves sewn from the finest silk. Rumpled shirt and days old jeans were replaced with a flowing gown, its numerous frills and laces hand embroidered by the most hard working child laborers in all of France. Mal Landsman blushed, hoping to have not spoiled her radiance with her own clumsiness.

“I am so relieved!” Mr. Whale enthused, massive eye twinkling from behind an equally gargantuan monocle. A flipper reached up to give a tip of his top hat to the girl, his look of displeasure turning to one of great enthusiasm. “I would not want my dancing partner to be harmed this early in the evening.”

“Dancing partner…?” Mal looked around, couples in extravagant clothes twirling around them upon the ballroom’s hardwood floor. “Oh, yes. For the very important gala.” She held out her hand, offering it for one of Mr. Whale’s flippers to take. “By all means, Mr. Whale. After you.”

They embraced as the strings of so many happy instruments struck up, the gentlemanly sea creature holding Mal close as they one-two-three’d one-two-three’d. Mr. Whale was so very graceful, and not at all free with his hands like so many other men. “Oh, Mr. Whale,” she sighed happily, pressing her cheek against his all encompassing underbelly. “I don’t want this night to ever end.”

“It never will, Miss Landsman. It never will.”

Mal hummed to herself, dancing in a circle as all hell broke loose around her.
