Ally growled at him and pushed him off. "Doctor I don't think you understand what mess we're in. You don't know how Girmixians are. If they catch me you're going to die. Only I can protect you here. So don't say you know best because right now you are the fool. We will fix this but not right now. They already know were here we have to leave this area and come back at nightfall. That's one of the disadvantages of Shredders they can't see very well in the dark."

"Oh Ally... I think you're the one that doesn't understand," his voice stated darkly as he flicked his wrist and the sonic screwdriver came alive, "I'm going to tear down that tower and kill whoever's behind it."
His eyes burned with an acidic gaze as he stared at the building. There was so much rage behind that glare it seemed to resonate down to the sonic screwdriver. The Shredder caught up and leapt into the air towards the Doctor.
"I'm sorry March..." he whispered before blasting the Shredder back. The hydraulic systems inside it popped and it collapsed. He winced as he saw it crash.

Ally watched him with fear. "This place has finally gotten to you. You're not yourself right now." she said while running up to him and looking him in the eyes. "Please don't think about it, think about all the fun times we've have. Think about the ones that you love. Think about all your friends." she said while she hugged him tightly. "Please don't fall into the darkness."

"March was my friend," he replied coldly staring at the fallen shredder, "his full name was Thackery Earwicket. He was a physicist and a brilliant baker. I'd give him a pot of tea and a chalkboard and we could have fun all night. Then there was Hatter. He was March's best friend. His real name was Tarrant Reginald Hightopp... we'd call him T.R. He was an astrophysicist. Always with his head in the clouds that one. You've already met Yurik."
The Doctor looked away from the fallen Shredder and stared at the tower.
"We traveled through time for a bit, the four of us. We saved so many planets... And now look at March. Something... someone went inside his brain and removed all the goodness and life from him. Tarrant, sweet Tarrant, gentle, foolhardy, naive, innocent Tarrant took up arms against this wrongness. This was the same man who would have let a nest of gigantic spiders eat him just so their hatchlings would not starve! He picked up a weapon and fought!"
His hands curled into fists.
"And this same person stripped him of all that innocence and hooked him up to the mainframe as the central processor. These Shredders, everything they do... he experiences it as if it were his own actions. That's how he could communicate through March! HE'S TRAPPED IN THAT TOWER! AND I SWEAR BY TIME ITSELF I SWEAR WHOEVER DID THIS WILL PAY! I SWEAR THOSE PEOPLE WILL NOT SURVIVE ME!!!"

Ally sighed "You will die though if you just head straight in there. You will need a guide." She said while looking back at the tower knowing he wouldn't give it up. She heard the howls getting closer. Ally turned back to the Doctor. "But please for our sake wait until dark."

"This is the solstice Ally," he murmured glancing up at the white queen, "it's midnight... sunlight in the middle of the night."
He sighed and glanced at Ally.
"We need to find shelter until the sun sets in a few minutes."

Ally nodded and looked around "We should go back to the mushrooms." she muttered while not seeing anything around that would be good for hiding.

"It's too far," he replied unemotionally, "don't forget we got here on Yurik's back. Knowing him, he's probably back in his home."
He didn't seem to care much for his safety but for Ally's sake he glanced about the bone dry landscape.
"There, in those boulders, there are caves we can use."

Ally glanced at the location he mentioned. "Alright" she started to walk towards the boulders but stopped and without turning to him she spoke. "Doctor, don't live in the past." she said then started to walk again.

He adjusted his top hat so it covered his eyes. His hands slipped into his pockets as he followed Ally silently.

The Doctor sat at the mouth of the cave his knees drawn up under his chin.
"Who do you suspect are the Trump King and Queen?" he finally asked cutting through the silence.

The Doctor said nothing as he stared at the sun setting on the wasteland. His eyes unfocused and he recalled what the planet had looked like before. Everything was green except for the cluster of mushrooms that occasionally popped up. Not only that but the scent of flowers and trees wafted in the cool nights. Rocking horseflies and dragonflies buzzed through the air as the flowers tittered and gossiped.
"It used to be beautiful here. The last innocent place in the universe."

"Nothing is ever innocent." Ally replied with a sigh and stared at the ceiling of the rock, making pictures out of all the lines in it.
