Well we still have some time before the Chuunin exams, Havik. Instead of just aimlessly training after reaching Genin, why don't we just do some missions and travel to other villages?

Well, you guys need to master all of the available Academy Rank Elemental Ninjutsu you can learn, and master the first Stage of the Daidomyaku before you even reach Genin... so you've got enough work ahead of you.
After that, I would recommend mastering the remaining ranks and obtaining at least a fair spattering of Genin techniques and at least one chuunin rank technique.
