SorceressJacklyn @Paradox: I am staying for now. And my niece's name is Isabella Rose. @Teddy: I'm staying! I'm staying! Please relax. @Epcot: I mean no offense to this but wouldn't it be wiser to focus on school than work on the ball this year then? If everything rides on it, I know I would be putting that first... Nope. I am still doing the ball.

Epcot Illuminations Can I calmly say something chibi, at my school senior year is the most stressful as that is when Our school has students apply for college. My school is an IB school so I am already taking college level courses. On top of that, I have to apply and check out colleges for music, I have to take the SAT, I have work, I am competing in the largest of industries (music) and I am making sure everything this year goes exactly as planned or my plans will go down the drain. So yeah the comment earlier saying I don't have stress is completely false. My whole future is on the line this year and I don't want to screw up this time. Sure I don't pay mortgage yet but I pay taxes, going to have to sign-up for the draft in 10 months, trying to further my minor in political science and broadcasting media. My regents tests won't count at the schools I am looking at as they are not in New York or California. I screwed up on grades last year so yes this year extremely counts. sweatdrop gonk I didn't realized that you were doing IB!!! eek You are a way more dedicated student than I was. rofl I had just assumed that you had already been accepted into different colleges, and had gotten your scholarship stuff in. Some schools have ridiculously early deadlines to apply for fall scholarships such as October or November. The latest deadline I've seen for fall scholarships was February. Since all of these deadlines are so early, my school really pushed us to be accepted into the schools we were interested in by the beginning of senior year. By the time we got to senior year, it was pretty much smooth sailing. Btw, if it makes you feel any better, I was an AP kid, and after having gone through 6 years of college (I changed my major late), I can say with absolute certainty that AP courses are harder than freshman and sophomore level classes. I've heard that IB is harder than AP, so I'm betting that your freshman year of college will be significantly easier for you than this year is. Then again, that was just my experience and opinion. I would have to say that the most important thing to have developed when entering college is your writing. I entered college being expected to know what an umbrella thesis is and how to use them effectively to write papers. I don't recall ever being asked to write a 3 point essay in college. Just make sure your writing is up to snuff, and you shouldn't have any problems. But, considering that you attend an IB school, that shouldn't even be an issue. I wish you the best of luck in your college/scholarship search! heart

Sorry for bumping in guys. I'm currently the 2nd host for Envy room. So HAI. =D I wanted to ask a few things, since Sabs (the main host) is on hiatus till November and I'm understaffed and need some ideas. XP
What are you guys doing for fundraising? XP We don't have very artistic people in our room, so it has to be something simple. I was thinking of name tags, but I have no idea how to make one... Fundraising and advertising was never my forte, it's Sabs, so... yeah. XP
So... how's everyone here? =D
And for Epcot... If it makes you feel better I'm in senior year too. =) And I'm also having a very difficult time coping. Exam comes after exam this year, and I'm struggling over scholarships. XP And the industry I'm trying to break in is also very difficult (writing and VA). So... I don't know. I just feel a very strong sense of camaraderie when I read your post, I just had to reply. XD And feel free to rant in my profile, I don't mind. Reading your post makes me feel a lot less lonelier. =)

I don't think we've really talked about fundraising or advertising yet. I did make a plug for the Annual Ball two different days at Anime Weekend Atlanta at the Gaia panels. xd So, that should count for something, I hope.
Did you mean like what is in your sig when you said name tags? I could do that much. If you have Powerpoint 2007, you should be able to do it too. That's how I do mine anyway since I don't have any good image editing software.
You could sell art for gold, I guess. I'm not really too sure about the whole fundraising thing. Sorry I couldn't help more.
Btw, I got a degree in English, and the market is extremely tiny for writers right now. Most magazines and newspapers want someone who is a specialist in something (such as sports or fashion) writing their articles. It's a tough job market, but I wish you luck! heart

We can certainly make a profit of that, definitely more than the item is worth if we calculate it right. We can beg here for donators, or buy one and make sure the raffle tickets total is worth more than the price.

If we were to do a raffle, we would need to make sure that we had some high ticket items to attract attention. The hard part would be getting enough people to buy tickets. Believe it or not, I saw a thread that is giving out 23 million gold in prizes for the people who draw the best couple art, yet only one person has entered so far, and the contest has been opened for a month. So, even if we have great prizes, it doesn't necessarily mean that we can generate interest. We would have to be very deliberate and strategic in doing a raffle, and we would have to advertise it like crazy.
I did have one idea. We could have a special booty grab day where everyone plays booty grab a minimum of ten times that day, and everyone donates their winnings to the ball fund. The person with the highest score (recorded by a screenshot) will win a MC from this month (or something relatively nice, but relatively cheap like that), so that would serve as motivation. It's just an idea.

And maybe we'll have some art contests, but with TONS of posting, because you know how those artists are! >.< lol With the extra posting, we'll have TONS of attention... at least I hope.... And maybe we could even connect it with our thread like the wrath room offical art contest or something... Or in shunatsu's case, the Envy room. And i know how you feel, shunatsu... sometimes our conversations get really interesting...

And i know how you feel, shunatsu... sometimes our conversations get really interesting... The only problem with having art contests is that we would lose gold instead of making gold. We're not after art, so giving away prizes for art would be wasteful. It was just a random idea, but if we were to have a booty grab day, we would need to create a thread about a month in advance, and have people pledge to play and donate their winnings. If each person can donate 10k, and we give away an 80k item to the winner, that would mean that we would have to have a minimum of 9 participants to make a profit. We would need to do some big time advertising to try to fill up 100 slots. We could even promise each participant sign art since that doesn't take very long to do at all.
