Alyosha raised an eyebrow, watching Sy, ... what he could only describe as, flounder. He stood back up and wound his arms behind his back, standing comfortably. He had come to know this side of her a little.

"Sy.. calm down" he said, sternly. "There's nothing to be.."worried" about.." He watched her, unforling one arm and placing it lightly onto her shoulder. He looked to Orian, smiling a little. "She's like this sometimes.."

Orian gave a little smile. "Yeah, i kinda noticed that last night when we first met." Streaching a little, he tilted his head to one side to keep looking at Alyosha, and to keep an eye on Sy. Giving a little smile, he closed his eyes for a moment, thinking back to the past once again, getting a far away look on his face.

Nothing to worry about indeed! Although it would be to her benefit to gain her composure seeing as fleeing was out of the question entirely. Besides, it might do her some good to try to become a more graceful adult. Yes, this was new chapter in her life and anything was possible.

Even if one had just swept her off her feet and the other one had his hand on her shoulder. She cleared her throat several times, which had become a bad habit of hers when she was trying to stop herself from blushing madly.

"I- I am perfectly calm!" She squeeked out, which caused her to blush slightly. Oh yes, the perfect image of calm. Taking a deep breath she stared over Orian's head and past Alyosha so that she wouldn't get flustered so easily. "Ehm. Didn't you have some questions for Alyosha, Orian?"

"Well, really, there where the ones i asked the first night I was here, and also, I was a little curious about the Aerandir themselves, if you had time to talk." It was Orians turn to be flustered, as he looked down at his hands, and fidgited a little, slightly at a loss for words. Well, at least Sy was calming down a bit. He didn't want her to try bolting again, and end up falling and hurting herself or something.

Alyosha, seeing that Sy appeared to have calmed down, slid into a cross-legged position. He looked up at Orian, nodding slightly.

"I have some time to talk, yes. What would you like to know?"

"Hrrm. I guess the first and foremost question I have is if you have something around here that I could do, in return for a place to stay. I'm an explorer mainly, but i've picked up other skills, like a passing study of Alchemy and a smattering of archeology, in my travels. And I'll apply myself to any sort of physical labor, provided it's possible for a human to do it." Orian looked down at his hands again. He hoped he wouldn't have to leave the island. It was nice here, and at least it was a known place, that gave him something at least semi firm to stand on as he got himself settled.

Settling herself onto the sofa more comfortably, she quietly pretended to be more consumed with untangling her hair than paying attention to their conversation... although she was greatly interested in it. If Orian could not find a home here she had every intention of trying to help him herself in finding a home. She didn't like the idea of people being lost and alone, even if they flustered her so.

"You have a spare guest room, don't you?" she asked rather nonchalantly as if she hadn't accidentally happened upon and scared the shizznit out of Orian earlier. Coughing she returned to combing her hair with her fingers.

Alyosha nodded a little. He was about to tell the man that there wasn't any real need for non-archaeos as such at the moment but the pained look on his face made him seem somewhat..

Well, it felt as though he was about to kick a small, whimpering puppy. He sighed a little inwardly. "Well..." he started, "I suppose we could find you something to do.."

Orian gave a small smile, looking ukp at Aly. "You sure? I mean, I can always vacate the island if you want, and take my chances out there. But well, I guess this is someplace here thats actually a known, not an unknown, ya know?" Orian shrugs. "Just name a job, and i'll do it to the best of my ability." He chuckles a little. "Though unless you like hard boiled eggs, grilled fish, and bread, don't ask me to cook." He gives a little grin again, relaxing a little, unbuttoning the top two buttons of his silk shirt in the heat, showing that he was wearing a chain of some sort, with something dangling.

Oh gods. She had been watching them just a moment and saw Orian start to unbutton his shirt... didn't they have any decency?! At least the subject was off of her, and although uncomfortable, she was very grateful. Aerandir and Orian's future were much easier topics to discuss.

Glancing from Aly to Orian she paid attention to them quietly, although her eyes only lingered on them for mere moments before they darted away. Aly had been more welcoming with her, hadn't he? Was he less hospitable because Orian was male, or had she made a bad impression for future visitors? He seemed to reluctant...

Alyosha pondered a little, sitting back, looking at the two. They seemed almost like a couple as they sta there, concerned looking. Sy was slightly figdgety as usual though.

"Well, give me a little while to think of a suitable job for yourself.." he said, unsure what he could actually give him to do. "I'm guessing you'll wish to stay in one of the rooms still, yes?" he looked towards Sy now. "And you too, Sy... you've been.. hanging around here more and more lately." He smiled a little, wondering if Orian was the reason she'd been hanging around.

"Erm. Only if it isn't too much trouble. I mean, i can camp out in the jungle if I have to." He smiles, lifting one hand to push back a stray strand of hair. "But wherever you stick me will be fine. As for my other question, I was just curious about the Aerandir in general. What exactly are they? I mean, Fae told me they grew into a humanoid form, but so far the only one's i've seen are the little gryphonettes. Which are very cute mind you, well, other then the one that tried to take a chunk out of my hand last night. Lucius I think his name was?" Orian stops to ponder a moment.

"What?" She heard her name and was suddenly very aware that she had been dragged into this conversation against her will. Here she was, sitting here and listening and being a lady when Aly had to go and say something to fluster her. She was sure now that someone had discovered her crush and informed him... that was the only reason. Why else would he taunt her about being around more often?

"You!" Her cheeks flushed bright red despite her attempts to keep her composure. "What do you think, that I want to live here with you?" @___@ Oh gods. That was it. She had blurted something out horrible, terrible, completely disrobing of her carefully hidden thoughts. >> Time for a change of topic.

"Oh, Lucius calms down if you flatter him enough," she added a bit too quickly after her comment to Aly. Oh wow, would you look at that tangle in her hair?
PostPosted: Wed Mar 23, 2005 12:46 pm

"It's alright," he said. "I won't throw you out in the jungle." He shifted a little on the floor, moving sideways so that he was on a rug rather than the bare floor. "The Aerandir... well we only know what we know, really.

"They are... er... were an extinct species which were culled by humans. They have several life stages, beginning when a piece of an adult's fluff and feather are brought together and bonded. They need to be 'contained', it seems, to produce anything. We think they must have had their own methods of doing this, but we're unsure how, yet: we discovered it rather accidentally. But that's another story.

"Their next life stage is, as you've seen, a small gryphon-like creature which shows attributes of one bird and one mammalian creature. They then become a wisp, a stage brought on by contact with a special item, one asccoiated with its 'job'. Each Aerandir has its own specialisation, by the way. It's odd, really. They then become children, much like any humanoid, and then grow until they become adults. There are a few adults around - Rahujo, Osero and my own charge Acia. All we know has been based on their growth."

His little speech was interrupted by Sy's proclamation. He blinked a little. "Well, I think you've made it very clear you don't like to be around me much. Which is bizarre when you're almost always here..." he thought aloud. He rested back on his palms, face showing a momentarily puzzled expression as Sy quickly changed the subject.

Just nodding, Orian thought over the explination of the Aerandir. "Hmm. Interesting, and unique. What sort of jobs do they grow into? And how set are they in their jobs? Is it a caste system, where no one ever changes, or is there room for change?"

Orian looked up as Sy gave her little exclimation. He gently took her hand, and kissed it. "Oh please? Stay around? That way theres at least one more person that I know around?" Giving his best pleading eyes, he looked up at Sy, completely innocent, and a little lost looking.
