"We get paid good money to be here. Plus the wallets. We imps don't really have any marketable skills besides sitting on pianos looking cute. Playing crippled has been good to us."
"Well howbout y'jus' keep outta my way then? Like I getta whistle an' blowit whennai c'min here'n y'guys jus' go. Away. Like y'used t'do when I'd come through here. B'fore we got t'talkin'."
The imp crossed its arms and narrowed its eyes at West. "Maybe. We'll get back to you."

The boulder monster seemed strangely subdued today.
"Whasswrong?" West didn't particularly care, but this creature was the only one in this place who hadn't disappointed him in one way or another so he felt sort of obligated to ask. There had been that whole deadbeat dad fiasco, but that was the boulder's little boulder monster kids' problem, not West's.
The rock creature shrugged and sighed and moved to one side without demanding a story at all.

As West rounded the corner, keeping an eye open for the monster that lurked in the vicinty, he heard an odd, muffled chanting.
Amu lammeh puu daah
Amu lammeh puu daah
K'eoh puu daah
Amu lammeh
"WHAT'N TH'NAME'F CANDLEJACK IS GOIN'ONN'ERE?"
At his outburst, the chanting stopped and several of the imps came running out of the bushes near West's feet.
"You fool!" one squeaked.
There was a horrible crash before the monster plowed out of the bush, a string of empty wallets hanging from its neck. It bellowed at West and chased him from the maze, trampling a couple of imps in its wake.

Astra was getting just a little tired of repeating this maze. How many times would she have to go through the same obstacles?! As she flew through the first section, the imp seemed like he was about to strike, but she wasn't in the mood to put up with him, waving her staff threateningly.
The imp wisely kept it's distance today.

This time she had not neglected to come prepared, having remembered a good riddle to tell the huge bolder thing.
"you got something this time?" it asked her.
"yup, I heard this one recently too" She recited the riddle, and thankfully it seemed to please the huge bolder thing. 'fine, you can pass"
Now she just had to get through the next to part..sigghhh

Once near the next part of the maze, Astra peered cautiously around the wall, looking for sighs of the huge growling beast like thing. So far so good... She crept towards the center of the maze, Before shrieking as a huge growl was heard, along with the flash of white and red
She wondered if she had ever flown so fast in her life.

She wasn't going to slow down. No way in hellwas she gonna. using every ounce of speed she had, she flew to the last part of the maze where the glorious scareon balls lay. Swooping down, she managed pick up one of the prizes
"YAYA I DID IT I DID!" She began to cheer, but as she was about to get out, the horseman appeared and charged directly towards her.
As the fairy made her daring escape, she dropped her precious prize, barely managing to escape the thing for the 2nd time.

It was time to try her luck at the maze again. Yui marched to the entrance of the maze, glared at it for a moment, then went inside. Almost immiediately, she heard a soft whining noise and saw a small imp (was it the same imp?) holding its foot and whimpering in pain. Not one to let a creature suffer, she marched over to it, snapped her fingers at its foot and tapped her own impatiently.
"C'mon, c'mon, we don't have all day. Really, if you are the same one I helped before, you might learn to be more careful."
Still scolding, she pulled out a nasty looking splinter of wood, tossed it off tot he side and went on her way. She was determined to try and win at the maze today.

Second verse, same as the first. After having encountered an injured imp again, Yui thought she had a fair idea of what was coming next. And sure enough, along with the assorted creepy noises, she soon found herself facing a large stony figure. Holding up a hand, she surged ahead before it could get a word in edgewise.
"Wait, let me guess. I must tell you a story or a riddle, correct? I will tell you about my Ancestor then."
It took more time than she liked, but she couldn't resist telling someone who enjoyed stories about her esteemed and noble ancestor. And really, taken on its own merits, it was a beautiful story. When she finished, she had the satisfaction of seeing what looked like admiration in the stone figure's face.
"You pass. Good story."

This time, the snarling from the next path over didn't make Yui jump. She'd been wondering if the large (and clearly Not Happy) beast would still be wandering loose. And at least, it was still separated from where she was. For now at least. And Yui had no intentions of loitering long enough to allow it to get to her.
Tail twitching in agitation, Yui ran like hell.
